Subject: GW Pricing to be based on USD for "The Rest of the World" (Limited Areas Only!)
Now, I'm not really sure what this means, other than prices are going to go up in the U.K. If it works how I think it does (for example the Kharadron Overlords Ironclad is £70 here, but over £88 in USD).

From what I've seen, this only applies to customers in the 'rest of Europe' and 'rest of world' categories, so not Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or the UK.
From what's being said on facebook this email is going out to retailers in Europe (I've seen people from Turkey, Portugal & Spain reporting it) but NOT the UK
Why on Terra would a UK company sell to U.K. people in USD? Where did you see this? Cos that isn't what it will mean.

This is correct, I live on the Aland Islands which is part of Finland but not part of the EU taxation union. This means everything posted here has to be sent VAT free which almost no one does due to the extra paperwork.
So from tomorrow I will have to pay the higher US prices when buying from GWs webstore.... Another reason not to buy from their webstore....
Buying from the UK is so much cheaper than anywhere else as you can get 20% off discount + 13-15% exchange rate discount since GWs exchange rates are so bad.
So everyone calm down, this only affects a few islands making it harder for our struggling hobby to survive....
Edit: check out the flag next to my name, we have our own flag here where I live yet Dakka lists it as undefined as this place is so small.

For me, new pricing in USD would mean a 25% price increase overnight. So yeah, I´m really hoping this is something that only effect the "rest of world/EU"-sections for now. But I have no doubt that we will all be feeling it further down the line.
I tried to find GWs facebook to ask them to clarify but it seems they have like a million different ones?
How bizarre. I kinda worry that they might be changing where they produce and ship kits from. I hope it means that Australia and New Zealand might see a price decrease.
If nothing else, it will make Forgeworld a little easier to navigate.

I'm a GW stockist and got this info at the beginning of April. I asked GW about it and they told me it only affects the places that are part of EU but not part of the EU taxation rules.
Here is a list of all these places:
Exclusions: There are some areas of the EU that are treated, for the purpose of the EU VAT, as if they were outside the EU:
Heligoland and Büsingen am Hochrhein in Germany
Ceuta, Melilla and The Canary Islands in Spain
Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique and Réunion in France
Mount Athos in Greece
Livigno, Campione d'Italia and Lake Lugano in Italy
Aland Islands / Ahvenanmaa in Finland
the northern third of the island (the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus", recognised only by Turkey) and the Green Line, in Cyprus
Faroe Islands in Denmark
Gibraltar on Spain, Akrotiri and Dhekelia on Cyprus in the United Kingdom
the Saimaa Canal and the island of Malyj Vysotskij, Finland leases from Russia
Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin and the Clipperton Island in France; etc.
IF YOU ARE NOT IN ONE OF THESE PLACES THIS CHANGE DOES NOT AFFECT YOU

Thanks for letting us know! Sorry to hear it's affecting you and your friends though :( Is it just the webstore or is it the retailer prices too?
I'm guessing GW think the GBP is more likely to tank further, so selling in USD gets them more GBP which is where their company and financial reports are based.
I'm going to make a prediction - it's only going to be in places where swapping to the USD will cause a rise in prices.
Prove me wrong GW, prove me wrong!

From what I understand it's the webstore only. If it affects my retail prices as well I might as well buy from Element Games instead of from GW as that'd be cheaper.
For some parts of the EU that uses the pound: Possible price hike.
For everywhere else: YES! FINALLY FAIR PRICING.
(The latter includes Canada, New Zealand and Australia).

I will be shocked and amazed if GW lowers Australian/NZ prices to US prices.
I'm still putting my money on this only applying to places where it'll result in a price hike.
I also don't really see how this is going to work with physical stores. It might fly online to list US prices, but in stores where people pay with cash it's not really going to work. Honestly I would have guessed that it would have been a legal requirement to list prices in the local currency on store shelves in most countries.
So maybe this is only going to apply to the online stores of countries that don't have physical GW stores?

Thanks! This new give me a mini-heart attack! But I know some friends on Canary Islands that are gonna be very pissed
Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.
