I was looking to convert up a small squad and possibly a tank of the brave humans in the grimdark future where there is only war. I was looking to do something a bit more unsual rather than the usual use Empire/Freeguild parts and I was wondering if anyone had any inspired pictures, ideas or conversions of their own to share?

I haven't touched Guard in 15+ years, but I recently saw this on Reddit which shows where the parts came from for the different featured conscripts:

I did a converted Guard regiment a few years back now. These were the heavy conversions, with various head and weapon swaps on everything.

I was in the process of building an ork Zeppelin, but perhaps Zeppelins could be used by the guard as well? After all IG technology varies across the galaxy.

One of the Gaunt books (guns of tanith i think) has the regiment staging off a giant zeppelin, so there is definate prior.

Here are a couple conversions I did a while back. A "Ragnarok" tank that counts as a Leman Russ. Also I dumped out my bits box to make a Taurox counts-as. And If you are looking for SuperHeavy reinforcements, a kit bashed Warhound.

Have any of you guys done any cool conversions on the infantry itself? I've been thinking of doing my own Guard army, mostly mechanized with heavy armour support but I want them to be different, so no Cadians, no Catachans. Ideally I want a Soviet look to them, but Valhallans are monopose and expensive and Bolt Actions Soviets can't be used in Armies on Parade.

When it comes to making an army drastically different you should just forget getting them to armies on parade.

I've been having fun thinking of how to get the most mileage out of the old metal sculpts. Here's my first attempt at a conversion- a standard bearer. Metal is a pain to chop up though!

I have a crazy idea to try in the future to convert old metal Cadians into Tallarns. A head swap with a puppetswar desert head or somesuch plus plenty of green stuff and filing would be required. A lot of work but I'd get some cool poses. If I get a Tallarn flamer that looks like an original Perry sculpt I'll be chuffed!
