Would like to use them as truescale basic marines, and equip them with heavy bolters, lascannons, ect. Anyone know how to go about it or aeen any good conversions?

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

Well, the Primaris bodies are bit wider than old marines, and their arms are longer so the Devastator kit won't directly fit the new models. I suppose that with a bit of playing around you can convert the Hellblaster squad to las cannons as they already have a power pack and you can cut off the plasma bits of the weapon and replace it with a las cannon. Heavy bolters would be harder to do, and quite fiddly.

My advice is not to do this though; it's almost certain that old scale marines are going to be phased out over the next few years, with new primaris kits to replace them. I would not risk spending all the time/money on a conversion for a unit which may be phased out. If you're starting a Primaris army, go with what's released and sometime next year you very well may have Primaris devastators.

My brother is building his true scale Ultramarine army from primaris marines with regular marine equipment etc. I don't think he has needed much work to make the heavy weapon arms to fit the Primaris-we're only talking about something like ~1mm difference in the length of arms. Here's pics from his first finished Tac squad.

Those are some impressive conversions, and the heavy bolter looks much less like a comically huge anime weapon and more like a genuine, man-portable heavy weapon on the primaris bodies.

Yeah, the Primaris bodies are perfect fit for true scale marines-we're using Primaris stats and normal marine equipment rules for them in our games (well, the bolters are -1AP like they should be ). Here's some pics from my brothers WIP Devastator squad. Hope they help to answer OP's question-should be quite easy conversions

Amazing how much better they look than standard devastators even with a simple arm swap.

I also like the fact that, unlike what GW hinted at, the arms look perfectly normal on primaris bodies (they said that the only cross-compatible parts are the helmets and shoulder pads).

Man, GW should just ditch Tacticals and Devastators and make them Primaris version... I want my primaris with heavy bolters, lasscanons, Missile Launchers, etc... :(

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Although dumping my current marine collection for scaled up big boys is among the last things I want to do... I must admit Primaris Marines look sharp with MK. 7 helmets. I might have to do a few headswaps if I ever get a Dark Imperium set.

How does that play out? Does it seem reasonably balanced? I would love it if intercessors could be taken with some special or heavy weapomns instead of their current form.

Well, we have played only small Ultras vs. Death Guard skirmishes (building up our forces for bigger ones) so I don't really have much info to offer. Haven't had as much fun with 40k since 2nd ed though-we hadn't played 40k after 5th ed.
Mind you, we have changed Primaris stats to be the basic statline for all Marines, Imperial & Chaos alike-no Primaris fluff for us but just true scale marines. Any stat upgrades, special rules etc. for elite units and so on are added on those basic stats and their cost amended accordingly. Characters are unchanged. So my Plague Marines are pretty tough bunch now but their cost went up also from power level 7 to 10.

We also play in quite relaxed manner (power levels, narrative missions with house rules etc.) so I really can't say if it would work for more competitive gaming. But I can say that the Marines now feel and play out in our games a lot more like they are presented in the fluff and that's what we were after for.

Here's the basic Tactical Squad datasheet we came up with:

I am in the process of doing this same type of conversion right now. I’ll be using all primaris as regular tactical marines.

Where do you find bases like those? The green plastic ones. All I can find are ones made out of wood or ones that have a bunch of scenery already on them

Basically what 8E should have started with. No Primaris at all, just 2W MEQs with AP-1 Bolters
The Primaris kits could have just been a new Mark of armour and that's it.

Wow, I'm actually really okay with this.

All kinds of please-don't-replace-them feelings mixed up with, wow-these-look-so-good ones.

But you just have to appreciate how well old SM gear meshes with new Primaris bodies...

Even the backpacks look legit.

OK, this has seriously given me some great ideas on how to personalise my new Primaris army (seriously tho, MkVII helmets look legit on Primaris!)

Also, since MkVII arms look great on Primaris bodies also, converting the 6 boxes of easy to build Intercessors I got will be MUCH easier to get more poses...

So you plan to field no true primaris then? Or how you plan to make your primaris head taller to regular marines as they should be? Being about equal to custodes in size who are to marines what marines are to human. Ie head taller.

I think I may want to steal this idea and run them as regular Marines.

Could this be that mysterious mk9 Power Armour we skipped?

As for Primaris Marines not scaling with truescale marines, well... I think GW should drop the head taller gimmick. If they did that, then they could just upscale the old SM line to Primaris size and that way there would be no need to drop SM for PM.

Who wouldn't want properly scaled Corvus armour?

The only issue I have with Primaris with Heavy weapons is that you have to be looking for the details to even know they are Primaris
Unless you put regular Marines next to Primaris ones, they kinda all lot the same at table-top distance.
I mean, there is only what, 4 easily spotted difference? The Helmet, longer legs with extra plates, neck guard and lip on the knee pad? All other differences don't immediately stand out.

So while they look great up close, I would never do it personally as the pay-off is a bit low for the extra cost of the bits.

But to that point, I see nothing wrong with going for it for yourself, as they do indeed look great.
