As the question goes: I'm considering getting my hands on some Sector Mechanicus terrain to give a bit of a verticality to my table, and create a fun environment for Kill Team/Shadow War, etc etc.
I was wondering how far one Promethium Refinery would go to making a dynamic, multi-levelled series of walkways, or if multiple Promethium Refineries, or just other kits would be best.

Feel free to post pictures please, so I can get an idea of what it might cover? Thanks!

I looked, but it didn't really seem clear as to what it all looks like together - it looked like it only showed different parts, and not the whole thing.

If there's any pictures of just the refinery on a tabletop, or really anything, that would be really appreciated!

Sadly, it is not that lot really... For games like SW:A you need A LOT of Sector Mechanicus sets to actually have true walkways and go multi-level. And mixed sets work best, as you really need all that different platform shapes. There are only a couple of sprues of Sector Mechanicus pieces and GW just packs some subset of those, give it a fancy name and sells it as a "yet another SM release". I have two SW:A box contents, two additional medium sized sets and still need more to be able to actually go more than one level up on a 4'x4' board.

Ah - thank you! Did the SW:A box come with the Promethium Refinery equivalent then? Do you happen to have any pictures?

Those are from two SW:A boxes. Each box had a bit more (a single sprue of straight walkways and supports) than Promethium Refinery. Since then I bought some more, to enable me to go higher. Promethium Refinery plus Ferratonic Incinerator gives you a bit more than SW:A (second large tank with octagon platform on it).

You don't get terribly much, especially for that price.

Yep, the quality is nice, the detail is good, the modularity is excellent...but you don't get much terrain at all. Particularly if you want to use them for genuine games of Necromunda or Shadow War.

As stand-in bits for a 40K board they're excellent. For a jam packed 4' table (or even a 3' table) you'd need...loads, perhaps 8-10 separate kits to get it covered well.

I would heartily recommend filling in space with much more cost efficient MDF terrain - then add the plastic stuff for variety.

That's a shame - I'd rather hoped they provided around the same kind of coverage as the Imperial Sector gives. Ah well - I'll probably try and get it to cover a 2'x2' size, and see what I can get with that, and make a "industrial sector" I could add in my city-themed table.

Just remember to space-check with actual models!
