With stories by famous novelist Graham McNeill, and games design by award-winning designer Alessio Cavatore and Jack Caesar, Highlander the Board game is a quick-playing game for up to 5 players in which you duel throughout the ages in order to be the last immortal standing and claim the prize.

You will choose an immortal from the timeless movie (and who knows, maybe even all new characters!). You will collect allies and live entire lives to give you the greatest chance at winning your duels - but you do not get to decide when exactly you will meet your foes on the battlefield – all you can do is prepare in the hope that you are the more powerful!

looks a bit ropey sadly, but if you want to be 'the one' and claim 'the prize' it might be of interest

Saw a BoW video about it. Calling it a “board game” is a bit of a stretch, it’s more like a card game, and I saw no real reason for the minis to be there but I suppose you could say that about a lot of games.

No, I'm with you: when you're even not using your model to represent your position (which seems to be the case), it seems pretty superfluous.

But then again, licensed Highlander minis for £24, and some of the stretch ones (Conner and Krueger Kurgan) look good as well...

Great franchise with a lot of potential.

Not sure the minis are needed for this non-board game.

Thinking about it I would actually really like to play as my own immortal, if I had one. I like the established characters but being able to build my own story would be just as cool.

License currently only covers the first movie, and not Sean Connery because he's always been a sour faced git and won't release his image rights.

It's a shame. Duncan has no rival.

So, not even Mario Van Peebles? We won't finally, finally get a Michael Ironside mini?

I don't think I can restate "only the first movie" any more clearly...

I guess, as there's hints towards non-movie Immortals in the stretch goals, we might see a not-Mario Van Peebles, Adrian Paul etc. Plus there's some girls apparently.

I am only venting disappointment. Besides Connery, aren't there only four immortals?

Conner
Russel Nash
Kurgan
Victor Krueger

Fasil
Ramirez.

If they don’t have Connery’s image rights, how do they have Ramirez?
Or is that why his face is overshadowed by his hat?

Precisely, they have rights to the character, but not the rights to Connery, so Ramirez will look a little different but will still fundamentally have a similar vibe.

Alessio mentions in the FAQ how this does in fact give them a little extra creative freedom (presumably to do other personas like they have with Connor, The Kurgan and Kastigir.) I'd like a Connery Ramirez, but I can live without.

They're giving the character a new face. His face is overshadowed, I assume, so that he doesn't look out of place in the line up of the classic characters

Yeah, only having the first movie is another thing; I’d love to see them do Ramirez Reborn but I also think the plot of the second film is all kinds of silly.

Personally I’d rather back a Kickstarter to remake both Highlander movies… and maybe continue the story the way they so sadly never got to do previously.

Nope!
Actually rebooting or trying to shove yet another hidden/unsuspected/reborn Immortal into a timeline that already looks like a slow-mo capture of a bullet going through plate glass?

Full on reboot if stories are to be believed. Back to the story of Connor vs The Kurgan. It's been kicking around for years, but it's beginning to gather steam with writers and potentially a director (the guy from John Wick) attached.

Highlander two could have made a bunch more sense if they’d foreshadowed any of it in the first movie. Any at all. Still, it’s good that they gave up there and never made any more films nor a TV series.

Yeah, good thing they didn't try to make a kid friendly cartoon version of it as well.

Yeah, imagine the insanity of a kid/family friendly version of a story where the hero/protagonist has to regularly engage in personal combat to-the-beheading just to have anything resembling a normal life on the side.

(Semi-related; it’s like those people that thought a show whose opening titles involve the primary hero being machine-gunned in a dark alley then calmly pulling his pistol and shooting the gunner dead, from the first-person perspective of the machine gunner, was suitable to be remade for children in cgi)

Haha that one is a cracker..

Anyone thought of dropping a note to Sean and asking if he would mind his likeness being used? Of course you never know how people are with stuff like that - some are very relaxed, others less so.

A "do you really want yourself to be immortalised like the above" might work well as an argument of course!
