Who has the best quality yellow paints?

I have had nothing but bad experiences with yellows in the past, and rarely use them (related!) so don't have many (just one). Coverage is the main issue - seems like 3 or more coats to even start getting somewhere.

Someone suggested Yariel Yellow from the Citadel line - FLGS has that, and it seems pretty bold and not watery, but those pot designs are less than good.

Experiences?

I use a Vallejo Med Yellow and GWs Averland Sunset (base) - both work well

I used and loved Averland Sunset for a while, but it goes bad too quickly thanks to the crappy pot design and once it starts getting chunks of dried paint, urgh.

I have since been using "Yellow Ocre" from the Vallejo Model Color line and it seems to be working well, but I haven't tried coating any big panels yet, just been using it for markings and whatnot on smaller models.

Definitely Averland Sunset. No major issues with the pot.

I am fortunate to have a full pot of Iyanden Darksun witch is an exceptional paint for all my yellows as a base. I actually still own most of the foundation paints , they've served me well.

I have on good authority from all my testers that our INSTAR yellows provided unmatched coverage and outperform Citadel, Army Painter and Vallejo Yellows.

We are launching within the week

Are you under painting the area first, or are you trying to build your yellow over black primer? Reds, yellows, and whites definitely require under painting with a lighter, neutral color first. Trying to build these colors over black is an exercise in futility.

I've found Averland Sunset and Mephiston Red works fine over black. It takes a few coats, but then painting an intermediate colour would also require a few coats so you might as well just go straight for the yellow and red.

Well... there are exceptions, lol. Overall, in my experience, most reds and yellows, even some greens and blues, don't cover black easily. The old foundation paints worked quite well, it's a shame they're gone. I also find, to my eyes anyway, that I don't care for the final color over black. Too dark. I've moved away from black primer and gone back to the grey of my youth. Colors are more vibrant, and the only time I have to under paint is if I slop a dark color where I'm putting a red or yellow. But you are correct, there are some reds and yellows out there that cover better than others. As long as it's a red or yellow you want to use, all is well.
