Thanks Solar. Only a few more things to add to my terrain collection and I should be all good to go, well as good as any hobbyist can be. I have a feeling once I have a large enough terrain collection I'll make another board so I can play some apocalypse games.

One down side to the way I built / store my board is that it has warped a little over time. I'm not sure I could make another board and have them lay flush next to one another.

OH, while I'm posting, check out some more brainstorming shots of my ork emplacement.

That entire structure is free standing, nothing is glued down yet. I'm still tossing around some ideas but this gives you a good idea of where I'm going. I want to have waist high barriers all the way around on both the third and second floor. I have a bulk head to fill the hole in the back and also serve as the entry point. I'd add some guns, orkify the base, and count it as a bastion. Thoughts?

Rough attempt at adding some orky like barricades at the top of the wall. I like how it looks but I'd like to see what you guys think. Next step would be to do that all around the top level and mix in some other bits such as tank doors and such. Thoughts?

Also, any one know where I can get that thin paper/plastic that has the metal diamond pattern in it? I'd like to use that for the floor on the top level.

Just for example. Google "plastic diamond plate, modeling".

looking great Ice!

As to the diamond plate, online is prolly your best option. It took me looooots of searching to find mine. Got it at a Hobbytown USA, but it was (at least for me) a hard to find item.
Looks great on ork stuff though

Thanks guys! Diamond plating will definitely be in my future. Despite my busy weekend I did manage to get some things accomplished on this.

As you can see the orkificatons are coming along. I did finally glue down the general structure. The statue has been based along with some more orks. I need to figure out what chapter it should be painted as. Any requests? Mantis Warriors, Tiger Claws, or Emperor's Fools perhaps?

Much More Orky! Necromunda Door?

As for SM chapters.... How about SoM.. the green would appeal to the ork in order to keep it as a part of their structure..

Heck yeah Necromunda Door. I took the bulk head with the door in it, I then made a door from some board added a handle and an ork glyph. DONE!

Sons of Medusa? I do love their color scheme. I'll think about that one. After my previous post I thought about trying a generic stone looking statue. I've never tried that before. It may be time to search for a tutorial.

It still need a ork like head plate on the upper platform. Ork head plate on a marine body.

Some more ork bastion updates. Here is a better picture of the rear entrance I created.

Here are pictures of the four guns that are attached or are about to be attached.

Here is an updated picture of the front.

Rules question: In the 6th edition rules it states that an Imperial Bastion costs 75 points, its access points and fire points are determined by the model itself and it comes with four emplaced heavy bolters (typically one facing each side). My question is how accurate do you think I have to be when creating my own version of a bastion. Should I change the points of mine because it doesn't have bolters, it has two assault cannons, a plasma cannon, and a missile launcher? Or should I play them as "a counts as" heavy bolters?

Next question: Do you think I should add more wooden barriers, perhaps some facing down on the top most platform? My wife suggested I do so beacuse, "orks wouldn't be that precise"? Thoughts?

london (all of it)

I agree with your wife on the barriers front, also i would play test and see what you think works better fairness wise, if they are "two assault cannons, a plasma cannon, and a missile launcher" you could just even it out with ork balistic skill so its still fair for the points

Good lord it has been to long since I have posted any WIP. I have been modeling and painting just very sporadically. Having a kid will do that!

Lets forget about my several month hiatus and talk about the real thing here. Adepticon planning is in full force and its now the fall SO what does that mean. Very little actually but it sounded good in my head. What have I been doing you may ask? I started working on my tech marine Philosir, seen below.

I also put some hurt on some orks here recently among many other things. To give you an idea of what I've got on my table, I took a picture of it!

From left to right, orks, assault marines, Huron, raven and talon, thats a stompa in the box and a lifta droppa arm in pieces on the right. All sorts of random crap that needs to be done. As of right now the plan is to complete Philosir and paint a few more Ice Angels. After that I want to complete the raven and by that point I should be mentally prepared to paint Lufgt Huron. Oh yes people. Huron will be attending Adepticon 2013, as a Tiger Claw, like he was meant to be!

Lot on your plate Ice. No idea how you do it. This summer proved that I really can't do more than one or two projects at once.

sweet... will go well with the rest of the Executioners.

Do folks dislike painting flyer interiors? I paint mine but I see from this example that it works as well!
Is it a time save or a prefrence?

Thanks guys. I'll make sure to let Steve know you approve of his Talon.

@ Solar - I think people don't paint the interiors just to save time. So much of it is very detailed yet lost or hard to see once you put the cockpit on.

MORE UPDATES!
Techmarine Philosir is completed. Thoughts?

The second image turned out a bit foggy but you get a good overall feel for him. Yes I know he isn't legal but that is irrelevant in this case. That is how is currently equipped in my fluff. Speaking of which, if you haven't read it you should!

The enigma takes shape! I really like him Ice! Though.... I am not wearing my glasses and am on my phone so all I can see is a tiny, blurry red figure... but what I can make out looks fantastic, top notch!

Thanks guys. 1-i I'll try to get a back shot up this weekend. I think this mostly painted raven will see its completion this weekend. I need to clear up some of this space for some Tiger Claws!

I completed the raven. I like the way it turned out but I have to say, I think it may look cooler if I added some damage onto it. I know I've said this before but its a daunting task when you haven't had much success with it in the past. For now I'm going to leave it be and work on some other things. I may try some test damage on some orks first then return to the Raven.

Some edge chipping might help define those large black areas.

I love how solid this looks! I do agree that some chipping would definately help.

I think a dry brushing of edges would help break up the black. It they are it needs to be more pronounced!

I like the symmetry.

Have you guys seen a good tutorial for chipping, where the chipping is on a black surface?

Ive never really tried chipping, but I figure Adeptus Battlegrey then Boltgun over that would work well.
