Do you mean a green wash? There is a wash on the blade, but its more to subdue some of the green effects.
@ Solar and Git - Thanks!
@Chemical - I look forward to checking out your guy in person. I'll post a pick once he gets his ice base.

So a few weeks ago a super cool marine landed on my front porch. Brother Tek'ar was sent to me from Chemical Cutthroat. The paint job is superb and very unique. I think he looks great with my collection of marine swaps. Here is a picture of him after I've based him to fit in with everyone else.
I need to get a picture of him on my board with everybody else.
From my own WIP desk I bring you a Baal Predator that I've had laying around for a long long time. It had been primed and ready to be painted for longer then I would have liked, but I finally decided to get it started. Here is a WIP pic. What do you think? Sorry the lighting isn't the greatest in that shot.

Thanks guys. I have pondered how to paint my tanks for a long time and I think this recent rendition will finally be the one I'm happy with. I still need to clean it up a bit, but irregular swatches of ice blue seem to work.

While I was working on the Baal I figured I mine as well get started on the Raven too. So far I've got a lot of the various bits put together and primed. These pieces are the only painted ones I've done so far. Outside of those particular bits I'll have only a handful of blue sections on the raven itself. It will still be primarily black. Jury is still out on what irregular stripe or section will be blue'd. Any thoughts?

Does your chapter have a specific symbol? (I glanced through your blg again but didn't see anyting specif, unless you use the BA symbol.). You might paint the symbol in blue, blue wings or such....

That is such a nice blue. Make sure you don’t paint the areas that need to glue together. I had to scrape clean a lot of my ravens after I painted the sections separately. Learning the hard way.. yea!
The only suggestion is the one I get all the time.. dirty the blue up a little, maybe a edge hightlight too.
Look forward to see it go together.

Here are some more WIP pictures of the raven. The base is nearly completed along with the cockpit. I've got it sitting together in the top two pictures to give you an idea what its going to look like. The engines on the end of the wings will be blue and there will be a bit more blue on the tail. I will then add my random irregularly directed stripe. Other then that, lots of little details still need to be done.
Thoughts so far?

Yeah, that is indeed my attempt at OSL. As you can see, still working on that technique a bit.
I haven't been able to do any more work on the raven, but it did get into its first battle yesterday. It delivered my death co dread and a unit of jump pack marines into the fray quickly. Its shooting was rather dismal before it was torn out of the sky by a rather large number of ork weapons.

Hmmm, no. I took one picture of the deployment and then we got into it and I never took any more. I will tell you generally what happened. My death company dreadnought killed three times his points worth of ork boys and storm boys. My Baal predator died before it fired. My storm raven blew off a LOT of weapons from kans and the deff dread before being destroyed by a kustom mega blasta. We had a total grind in the center of the board except his 6 killa kans and 4 close combat armed deff dread destroyed everything because I couldn't roll ANYTHING. I also charged with multiple assault squads into a unit of nobs that was somehow immune to my damage. In two rounds of combat I lost both of my units.
At the end of turn four he still had six kans on the battlefield (4 of which had no gun), his deff dread(minus two close combat weapons), and a unit of knobs with his warboss. I only had a sanguinary priest and a typhoon land speeder. Ouch......

Here is a completed assault marine sergeant. I was working on in between Raven and other things. I haven't completed the raven, or even made any progress. Instead I got side tracked by 6th edition. BUT! I did finally break out some old GW terrain bits and after staring at them in there crisp unused glory, I decided they needed to be orkified.
SO here are some major WIP's.
On the left you have the ruined Imperial Aquila, now with a ork barricade on it. In the back you have the Space Marine Statue with a nest on top. In the third picture you can see some of the different pieces. I still have a lot of work to do on that guy but you get a good idea where I'm going with it. The final plan will be to have an ork glyph face on the front along with a plethora of supports holding the nest up. Oh, and ork graffiti of course. The second picture is a mobile gun turret you can have if you'd like to pay the points for it.
Thoughts?

I think the nest is much to clean looking for ork construction... I mean the box itself is too clean a form. Needs to be more ramshackle looking with bits and pieces missing.

I agree completely. I think I'll apply some liberal battle damage to the statue then add a ramshackle support structure to help hold up the nest. The nest itself will have a ork glyph on the front amongst a collection of dangly bits.
Yellowbeard wrote:I really like the assault marine, Ice. The leather wrapped handle is excellent.
Thanks Yellowbeard! I hope to use this particular marine in the near future. He, unfortunantly, didn't make it into my battle yesterday. Speaking of which. Enjoy some battle pictures! Here are the four armies invovled. We did two teams of two. 1500 points each. In essence a 3000 point game. We played using 6th edition rules. We used Vanguard Strike deployment with The Relic as our mission.
Here are the four armies involved. I have army lists, let me know if you need them.

Here is deployment
Now this game took WAY longer then usual because of us trying to learn the new rules as we went along. So we only got through three turns.
Here is a picture of the beginning of turn two.
General battle recap for the three turns we played.
Turn 1 - Tyranids ran forwards, crossing the river and attempting to flank with his winged tyrant. (the unpainted model will have wings) BTW we rolled for the river and it turned out to be an Iceblood river. Neat, except nearly all tyranids have move through cover so they ignore dangerous terrain, boo! Orks surge forwards as well. The grots move up to take the aegis defense line and the quad-gun. Ice Angels and Space Wolves respond by shooting a lot at the flying Hive Tyrant, taking it down to one wound. The Ice Angels assault the Warriors to get their butts kicked and the death company launch forward to take out over a dozen hormagaunts in the assault.
Turn 2 - Orks continue their push, the unit of nobs disembark from the trukk and along with a large unit of stormboyz kill an entire blood claw unit plus its wolf guard down to a single man in the shooting and assault phase. The winged hive Tyrant flew over the long fangs to try a vector strike but does no damage because of blessed power armor. The genestealers avenge the hormagaunts by killing all of the death company and the Ice Angel assault squad gets killed by the warriors and the charging tervigon.
In response the Ice Angel reinforcements arrive. The storm raven flies onto the battlefield guns blazing, BUT it nearly gets taken out by the anti-aircraft quad-gun. The little grot manning the quad gun, NEVER MISSED, the entire game. Fortunately for me, he only took one hull point after hitting with every shot. My Baal Predator outflanks into enemy territory and moves as fast as possible towards the lootas and grots behind the wall. My vindicator moved forward onto the river into a better firing position. Our shooting phase killed a lot of genestealers via the raven, all other shooting was dismal. During our assault phase the last blood claw died and that was it.
Turn 3 - Orks charge across the river, loosing one nob to the river. Remaining stormboys get killed by overwatch fire, which was cool. Genestealers charge forward into the other gray hunter unit with the Rune Priest. Hive Tyrant flies over the vindicator and attempted another vector strike. It lost one hull point from the attack. The tyrant was then standing over top of the relic objective. The Trygon also appeared this turn right behind In the shooting phase nearly everything on the board fired at the raven and nothing did any damage. The grot manned quad-gun couldn't fire because it shot at me when my reserves arrived. Close combat phase turned out to be very bad for the space wolves. The high initiative genesteales ate up a lot of the gray hunters. The rune priest nearly died as well but three, "look out sir" rolls were made to keep him alive. Meanwhile the nobs assaulted the long fangs, but the long fangs held their own thanks to the wolf guard wielding a powerfist in terminator armor.
In response the Ice Angels deployed from the raven the tactical unit, preist, captain, and death company dreadnought. The Baal Predator moved up behind the lootas and subsequently killed them all. However the rest of the shooting wasn't very good this turn. The vindicator scatted onto the nothing. The zoanthropes saved from all of the ravens fire. In the assault phase the death company dread charge the genestealers and his blood talons went crazy killing 7 of them. The genestealers however killed the remaining gray hunters and the rune priest. The tactical unit ran over to the relic to hold it. The long fangs held out versus the nobs leaving only the warboss. A small three man unit of wolf guard charged the tervigon killing it in one turn.
Currently the Imperial forces were up, however we were being flanked, our forces were engaged on all fronts and most of the ork kan wall was closing in on us. It was looking grim but who knows how the dice gods would have treated either one of us.
Overall the game was great. I need to study the flyer / monstrous flyer rules some more. It will take awhile to iron out all of the new special rules like vector strike and the hammer ability. I think the new edition will be cool though once we get used to it. Fliers are going to be a big part of it until all of the armies have a response for them. In the meantime the quad gun is a great way to deal with them, assuming you can hold the position and use it. I did enjoy how both players were staying engaged during all turns. Orks shootiing at my reserves and overwatch, etc. The wound allocation stuff will be cumbersome until we all have that down but I think adds another layer of strategy to how you place your models and move your forces.
Sorry I don't have more pictures to share but once the heat of battle took over there was no time for pictures, bathroom breaks, or anything other then dice rolling, or getting more refreshments!

Thanks Gits. Something I forgot to mention before. There was a lot of combat with tyranid things and a lot of them are fearless because of the synapse stuff. In close combat if a fearless unit gets defeated, they used to take wounds equal to the amount they lost by. I don't see that any where in 6th edition. Now fearless simple stats that you pass all morale checks but don't mention any additional steps such as taking additional wounds in close combat if you've lost. Is that correct?

That is correct, we're back to 4th ed. Fearless rules. HOWEVER. Fearless units cannot go to ground.
