I was going to start copying down army deals, but the site seems to be running fine.

Premium army deals look good, £20 for a custom KR case with room for expansion

Anyone ordering anything? I'm tempted to at least get a few models & the rulebook

Desolator's only £17.50!

Give me something! hahaha

In the £15 rulebook on the "Misc" page, perhaps?

Price wise its more than what I would pay. If they gave the rules with the deals it may have been worth it. But with no rules info its too much to sink into the unknown. Good luck to em though

Check that, they do have some info on rules here: http://www.hawkwargames.com/pages/rules-faq

@Charax
Thanks, but I meant about the rules, actually. Not just a rule book.

You think so? I think the price is quite reasonable.

An entire army for under $200? That blows GW out of the water, and is about on par with Warmachine.

It does seem a bit pricey for what you get but then, maybe I'm... wrong and/or confused?

Preview of terrain, no details yet other than that they are a modular, tile based resin scenery system (tiles as in City of Death tiles). They say that N scale terrain will also fit (1:183 vs. 1:160).

I was expecting the models to be slightly cheaper myself, considering the scale. Still though, really interested in the game. I love the scenery too, hopefully the buildings will be affordable when they're released.

God, those pictures are amazing, can you imagine how awesome a table would look with buildings like that?

Premium product, therefore slightly higher price point.

I think it's fair enough, this resin is amazing stuff (makes Finecast inexcusable) and cant be cheap. The force i used in the game i played would be consistent with the large army deal and i dont think £155 'all in' (including the rules) is such a bad price to pay for such beautiful models.

PHR for me, time to crack out the airbrush.

At the very least it would have been nice to get some army composition rules, there are some models I just don't want in my army

oh and the tiles for the buildings are WAY smaller than COD. bout 2 inch square if memory serves, very customizable.

Why Why?!?

I am trying to have a good enough reason to get out from underneath GW's and your making my decision too hard.

Price is too much for a 10mm game with no rules preview.

Definitely going to have to pre-order the rulebook from my FLGS before I drop that kind of dough on this one.

Going to drop my expectations down a couple of notches on DzC and keep the Dust Warfare migration plans moving forward.

50% more expensive than Sisters of Battle for similarly sized models.

I might still buy a single pack of Enyos, but that's pretty much it.

I seriously don't see why people are scoffing at the price?

An entire army, everything you need to play, with brilliant models to boot, for around $200.

That to me seems like a totally reasonable investment to start a Wargame. You get years of enjoyment out of that $200, so in my eyes that is totally justified. gak, I blow that much dough in a few nights at the bar! hahaha

But to each their own, of course. I need to see rules before I take the plunge, but I want to like it.

And, for anyone looking for an awesome SciFi game on this scale who doesn't want to buy into this, check out Heavy Gear. The rules, setting and models are awesome. DZC actually seems to have some similar rules from reading the FAQ.

First impressions on my end:

1. The prices are... hmm... acceptable. I suppose that's the word. They didn't end up being a pleasant surprise, but neither are they outlandishly steep. I guess I've grown accustomed to paying $15 to $20 for a single 20mm infantry model, so paying roughly the same price for an even larger 10mm vehicle doesn't strike me as highway robbery.

2. The rules FAQ imparts almost nothing that we hadn't heard already through the rumour drip. Unfortunate, but at least it looks like they'll be releasing much more via download sooner or later.

3. The fluff is sort of poorly written. Like, I have no problem with the concepts, but the actual mechanics and style reminds me of GW's horrible, adjective-laden schlock. Why say something once when you can say the exact same thing twice with different words? Yaaaay

It's not offensively bad or anything, but I don't think I'd call it reasonable. Why are they all women? Nobody knows, it just works that way! Space magic!

@Reece - I definitely hear what you are saying and probably will eventually buy into it. It will just have to wait until it makes it over here to the States and is sitting on my FLGS shelves instead of buying anything today off of their website.

Holy... #$%.... I want the PHR so.... ridiculously... bad...

The Large army (about $217) is absolutely amazing. I mean I would like to see the rulebook first, but with what he said in the FAQ, it seems like a game that mixes a little of Infinity with Warhammer 40,000.

And with what they said about the PHR army (the fact that you field less of them since they are higher points but better than the average - think grey knights)... the Large army feels like something that you wouldn't even be able to field in a full game

I just want it nowwwwwwwww

Gotta love gamers. We can wait for a game for months, and then when it finally hits shelves/preorders, everyone goes into doom-and-gloom mode.

The prices seem fine to me, I just wanna see the rules.

it's basically the same as why all Marines are male - "The special stuff works best for women" versus "the special stuff doesn't work for women"

Nothing about the background is especially good - in fact some bits are a bit weird. If the Scourge absorb conquered races' technology, then why arent there any PHR or Shaltari or UCM elements in any of their designs (I would have LOVED scourge walkers)

If they're running human industry 24 hours a day (which in itself makes no sense as a phrase, because 24 hours is only a day on Earth), what's happening to all the stuff those industries put out?

So yeah, the background has issues, and comes across as cliched in places (lots of places), but I still think it's a worthwhile buy-in, especially at the cheapest level

Size isn't the only comparison vector, otherwise you may as well say "An equivalent amount of resin is way cheaper than any of these models"

Dropzone models carry far more than 50% more detail than SoB models (and I say this as someone who had quite a large sisters army)

I'll agree that they should have an army deal that includes the rules as opposed to a case to hold stuff. Price-wise I also don't find it that onerous, but maybe I just have too much money in my 40k armies. Models all look excellent. I'll be picking up the PHR and UCM. I just need to decide on the size.

Premium upgrade is £20-30

Rulebook & army deck is £20

if you want an army deal that doesn't have the case but has the rules, is there any difference if you buy the non-premium deal and the rules?

I feel you! I just want to read the dang rules. I won't play any game, no matter how beautiful the models, if the rules suck (Looking at you, Confrontation!).

We'll just have to wait and see. Our store is preordering the rules, we'll have it as soon as possible and will do a review.
