Thanks youwashock! I'm going for generally higher-contrast on these guys as I settle on a scheme for the Flesh Tearers. We'll see if the high contrast takes a way a bit of the menace of the dark red-and-black scheme. As you can see in the images below, I also went higher contrast on the black, tried bringing a tiny bit of blue hint into the highlights. Not sure if it came through at all, and a lot of it on the backpack is going to be re-tinted red from OSL anyways. We'll see. We're always experimenting, always iterating. Always improving.

Don't worry Viterbi, I have plans... Those curved flight stands are absolutely awful aren't they! I want to avoid using them whenever I can.
As I hinted above, the black is done. I might have gone too light with the highlights, a lot of it really looks more grey than black. But we'll see how it looks once it's all together, I'm not panicking yet.

Thanks Not Online and gobert. Luckily we're at the phase now where we do the exciting details that I love doing, so I expect the pace of updates to increase the next few days (plus I have a few days off work!)
To start off the details, I decided the Sergeant's skull markers are going to be gold. There's no gold elsewhere on the minis, unlike the Tacticals who had some imperial eagle iconography, so he'll stand out.

Thanks all! Yes, I figure if he's gonna wear a helmet, he should at least have a helmet with a nice "laser sight here" marker on the forehead. My Tacticals I put a big red blood drop on the Sgt's head! So there'll always be something.
Next is bullet casings. I actually love painting bullets, something about this particular brass recipe is just so satisfying!
What do you guys think, do you think the black panels on the side of the gun need some freehand?
Hm, stripes are an interesting thought. I'll think it over while I do more details. Like these purity seals! I went with a green wax (not quite finished), but I'm quite happy with the scroll itself!
