Thank you for the kind words everyone! These more weathered damaged Necron Warriors are certainly a lot more fun to paint than the old ones, which I've got down pat now.

Time to do the Tyranid scheme on a slightly larger bug! A unit of Barbgaunts, with a 3d printed blast effect on one of the weapons.

Another great looking unit of warriors Gwyn! Must be quite a sizeable force now?

Good start on the nids, the white orange and brown is a classic now

Thanks PaddyMick! I can't take credit, this coconut crab theme was originally devised by Catgut (catbarf on these forums) years ago. I'm not even the only one doing this scheme in my city!

It is a satisfying and surprisingly easy scheme once you get the hang of the dots, though.

Small update: working on the rest of the body:

The Angaran Chronicles: Hamar Noir. After coming back from a dangerous mission which left his friend and partner, the werewolf: Emilia in a coma. Anargrin is sent on another mission: to hunt down a rogue vampire. A rogue vampire with no consistent modus operandi and who is exceedingly good at hiding its tracks. So much so even the veteran Anargrin is forced into desperate speculation. But worst of all: drive him into desperate measures. Measures which drives Anargrin to wonder; does the ends, justify the means?

Thanks all!

It's such a fun scheme I'm having a blast.

Got the claws and hooves done. I also turned the brains to a darker purple tinge. Distinguishes them a bit from the other inners/tentacles/exposed muscles. Just need to do the basing and the blast effect I think?

I really like your take on the catbarf coconut crab scheme and, yes, the purple/ pink contrast is excellent.

Thanks Warboss. These are Barbgaunts, which are basically a unit of mortars which slows down the enemy. Don't know if they're competitive but I like the thought of them!

Thanks Olthannon! Any other faves?

We're moving back to Necron territory now. Got myself one of those fancy new Translocation Lords. Because moving a block of immortals up to 16" is pretty nice (with a chronomancer).

Loving the look of your Barbgaunts! I've used the very same set of effects as well; really brings the unit to life.

And honestly I think they are one of my favourite models right now - a decent middle-weight killer and their slowdown effect is neat. Plus they are just fun with how their weapon attacks happen. It's one of those units that's just an excuse to get to throw loads of dice at once.

Thanks Josh! It's definitely not a fast technique for a horde-style Nids army... Maybe I need more big monsters!

gobert wrote:The new Lord is really cool, the funky shapes look really great. The Christmas box is tempting because of him…

For me it's the Void Dragon and the Lychguard/Praetorians that make it tempting. The Overlord and Warriors I would likely sell off (though I think the warriors would take me to 100 warriors or just over which is a fun joke list to bring)

That’s coming along nicely! I managed to resist the battleforces so far, though I might see if I can find the Dark Angels one in my local GW, though it seems the most popular so that’s unlikely. Did you plump for it? A 100 warrior list sounds awesome and would certainly warrant a full Army pic
