Hello,

At some point in the future I plan to collect a small force that uses the Elysian drop troop models. They're pretty great, except for the helmets. Looking around online, I'm not the first to want to head swap them, but I notice that a lot of the choices used are things scaled more in line with regular 40k guys - thus look rather big on the scale the Elysians are in.

Does anyone have a recommendable source of properly scaled head, preferably in a modern or near future looking style? I'm somewhat modeling them on the modern French army, but it wouldn't need to exactly one of those. Current lead I have right now are Warlord Game modern soldiers, but the details aren't quite as "sharp" on those.

Thanks!

Pig Iron does a great range of heads that are a touch smaller than GW standard.

These could do for GIGN style dudes

I forgot to mention Pig Iron was an earlier candidate

Aye, I use the Kolony heads for my regular Guardsmen currently. The Kolony heads are a touch smaller than the standard IG ones but not very much so. I'm told Elysians are true-scale or close to it, which makes it seem like it would be too large. Indeed, some of the PIP headswaps I've seen for these do look large, though so far it's only the System trooper heads I see used.

Those are GW-scaled, however - to what I've been told, anyways.

The system trooper heads are the largest they do. Here is a comparison of the heavy infantry head next o
To standard cadian. It's a bit smaller.

Almost forgot Hasslefree. Their stuff is definately truescale, so if anythi g may even be a touch small. But the .ore heavily armoured heads might fit ok.

I used FW's Cadian heads for my Lamb's World guard. Smaller than the plastics, they scale well with Elysian bodies:

I've also used other heads, from a variety of places, including the plastic Catachan command squad and (sadly OOP) Fanatic Van Saar:

Most of the modern GW human miniatures will scale well. There are some nice bare heads on the old Empire sprues, for example, and if you don't mind a bit of filing or greenstuffing hair, a lot of the genestealer hybrids would work beautifully.

Their Afterlife Range is an excellent match. The rest, I agree, are not.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Thanks for the suggestions! This project is months and months in the future so I've plenty of hunting time.

I did not know Hasslefree did heads; some look good.

I like the look of those Elysians, Apologist - and it makes me remember that my painting skills are awfully trash for such find models

I'm planning on ordering from FW for some unrelated stuff in the near future; might be a good idea to pick up a small group of these guys so I can start experimenting with headswap options...
