Aside from 'rule of cool' on the tabletop, is there any reason there couldn't be female Chaos Marines? I mean, we know it's possible for the heretics to recruit directly to their ranks without having to 'convert' loyalist marines, right?

Oh God please no, this is quickly becoming the equivalent of US politics in the off topic sub forum. This subject has already derailed and locked several threads, so I doubt this thread will last for long.

As for your question, theoretically speaking, via the warp practically anything is possible, but at that point I wouldn't consider it an Astartes anymore, just like Fabius Biles New Men.

In 'current canon' there are, technically, female space marines but they are not 'true marines by any stretch of imagination. Basically freakish creations that give birth to a new breed of Chaos Space Marine, but these offspring are, as I recall, all male.

There is plenty of wiggle room then for Female Chaos Space Marines, through either mutation or being altered by anything from dark science to Daemon Lords or other powers.

In the pre-Primarch days of the earlier editions, and more fluff from a broader range of sources, there were Several Chapters of Loyal Female Space Marines. This was before the concept of Primarchs and Legions was introduced in a big retcon.

Answer 1: "Your models, do what you want."

Answer 2: "It goes against established fluff and you're bad for having this idea".

All answers will be one form of those two responses, with the occasional "Peacemaker" trying to broker a 3rd option.

In before the lock!

Do we even want to get in on this? I mean really, Chaos Space Marine women... Like really OP, did you even think about what that entails? All the stuff that happens to regular loyal Marines would happen to them, plus all the awful gak CSMs have to put up with?

No, just no.

Not to mention all the tasteless jokes about sprouting horns when they get a Boon roll...

I think you are a bit uninformed on a few things, let me se if I can clear it up.

Yes, chaos can make new marines. This involves taking the geneseed and start the grafting prosses a potensial recruit.

There is currently one reason why there are no female chaos marines. The 'turn a human into the 8 foot tall beefcake that is no longer human by any standar' does not function on females. There are no good resons for this except it established in the cannon from old.

If you want to know more about this, please chime in on this thread : https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/751551.page

But just do it on the table toop. The girls from necromunda have some cool heads with punk hair if you want them.

I would also like to point out that I am 100% behind having SM based on females and I hope GW gets on this train ASAP.

So before this gets too far derailed then, short answer is: model-wise, go for it.

Fabius Bile would look at deviant biology as an imperfection and terminate the unworthy candidates before melting them into drugs. Since he's recognized in the lore as the sire of many Chaos Space Marines, that's probably where this practice stops.

The Dark Mechanicus, OTOH, probably have loads of uses for human subjects of any sex. Servitors, slaves, experiments with possession, etc. They would not be Space Marines, but they would still become diabolic killing machines.

The Chaos force where I would expect to see the most females would be Renegades and Heretics.

I guess you mean this because Fabius Bile is an emperor children.

There's an old Iron Warriors novel (Storm of Iron) where a high-ranking Warrior's (Warsmith Kroeger) armour gets possessed and chooses a female slave as it's new occupant.

Chaos and the warp makes all things possible.

In 'storm of iron' a female IG officer becomes a CSM champion of khorne after selling her soul to khorne for revenge. But that was a chaos god....

Speaking of space marines did you know that there are no catachan space marines? Yes, it's official. Due to evolutionary pressures on catachan the human population has become so adapted to strength and aggressiveness that about half the population now has testosterone levels so incredibly high that gene seed literally cannot survive in their bodies.

And the men have even higher testosterone levels.

What's the source for that?

All depends on the situation.

Are we talking a (largely) uncorrupted Astartes who was once a loyal Space Marine - aka a Legionnaire from the Heresy or a recently turned renegade. If so, probably not.

Are we talking a super-tainted daemonically altered Astartes (mostly likely Emperor's Children) - probably not female, as such, but could easily look feminine or female.

If we're talking a Chaos Marine created via abnormal methods such as Warp influence, incredibly deviant surgery, etc etc - absolutely yes.

The main difference between Imperial Space Marines and Chaos is that Imperial ones are largely confined to the doctrine of the Imperium, and that they can't experiment with overcoming the "no female" limit. Chaos has a wider (albeit less successful) range of methods they can use, which could involve female subjects.

Hell, Fabius managed to create a female supersoldier in one of the more recent books - she wasn't Astartes, but she was probably as strong as one.

We have been very good at remaking this...

And we shall so again.

Maybe there's wiggle room. And maybe there is ablility too but again.

Again.

A female space Marine is not human, a male is not. They have very little of original "gender or humanity" left.

There a 7+ foot, goliqth, with multiple redundant organs, bullet proof rib cages, ceramic bones and more!

They do not think human.
They do not look human
For all intents they are somthing apart.

So have your female marines...

They gonna look like a marine. In marine armour.
There not going to be pretty or have boob plate.

I suppose exposure to Slaanesh might cause more or less involuntary sex change in some people, including Space Marines.

Just FYI, the New Men are not replacement Astartes. They're replacement humans. As described in both the Bile novels.

There is one known, though she is not an Astartes. There is a mutated/blessed by Slaanesh/enhanced human called Savona who is one of the captains of the Twelfth Millenial. She absolutely wears power armour though.

Storm of iron!

One woman does don marine armour and become a avatar/champion of Khrone but she still human, just has marine armour that mutated to fit her, and strenghens her to marine + leathality.

However!

technically she is still a mortal woman who happens to have marine chaos armour.
she not a "marine" in biologey

Until such time as GW actually says 'yes' the answer is 'no'.
