I apologize if this has been asked previously, but I haven’t found anything searching the forum.
For those IG/Astra Militarum players, I was curious what sort of of replacements you have used for vox caster antennas on your infantry. I have a few vox casters with broken or bent plastic antennas and want to replace them with something like wire to give them a more realistic feel. If any of you have done this, could you please provide some pics or details as to how you went about it?
Thank you!

Get a cheap plastic bristle paintbrush from the hardware store, cut to size. Put a dot of paint on the end to keep it from splitting. It's about the right scale, it's nice and flexible, and if it gets damaged you can always just put another one on.
It's not infantry, but here's an example:

Thanks Peregrine! One question though - how do you fix something in place like a brush bristle? Just a touch of superglue?

Probably Superglue (pin it in and superglue) Alternatively iv seen people use Fishing line or guitar wire. (though the lather would suck to get poked by)

For my Guard i went the other way and beefed up the end of the aerial to make it look more high tech transmitter rather than the pretty Lego like one in the base kit.
For this I chopped up a Tau battlesuit flamer.

Aerials on Tamiya rally cars are heated and stretched bits of sprue
Alternatively use a length of wire folded back on itself like the old whip antenna

Drill a very narrow hole into the model, drop the antenna in with a bit of glue on the end.

Thanks everyone for all the replies!
With regards to using any wire, whether it be piano, guitar, or just conventional wire, what’s a good size to use for guys of this scale? I kind of like the idea of whip aerials!

You could always get a small length of brass rod. Just drill a small hole at the connection point, insert rod, glue, done

Brass rod is a very thing gauge would be best, you usually can get a packet with 4 for not a lot of cash. Brass rod can be bent and straightened out. Just make sure you use 5 minute epoxy to secure it into your drilled hole. Plastic glue will not hold and superglue will get brittle over time if they get a lot of use.
On my own large guard army I just shortened the antenna down and they ceased to be an issue for transport or gaming.
My two cents, hope that helps.
Cheers,
CB
