Their initial launch was a little too IP-Unfriendly, so they're back, with a better version.

Spoiler:

Note: You'll need to pledge for a higher level/purchase add-ons to get actual miniatures!
Spoiler:

No idea on how it plays, but I'm hoping it is good/fun.

Because...Super Robots (plus!) and Kaiju?

Yes!

Sorry about that - now fixed!

The aesthetic reminds me of Transformers versus Power Rangers villains. Not a fan of the artwork or names. Dominador and Charles Lazar are particularly painful.

I see *some* Transformers and Power Ranger 'homages', but I'm not getting a 100% feel for them in this.

I'm going to have to watch the play throughs and read the reviews.

Gooftastic names don't bother me all that much - but a boring game certainly would.

I liked the previous model designs:

Sure, they're all ripped from better IP, but still... who doesn't want Optimus Prime vs Gundam vs Gojira vs Eva vs Cthulhu?

The first post was edited and fixed as soon as it was pointed out?

Definitely by the time you posted...

Anyway, as much as I want this one to really, really succeed, I wonder if it is pretty niche in a pretty small niche.

It's funded, so it's got a chance to deliver the core game. I wouldn't buy ant expansions, though

I'll admit, the Garada K-7 homage is pretty damn nice looking. Shame there's no Doublas M-2 to hang out with him.

Stretch goals and add-ons:

Supports as miniatures 'bulk' pack:

New Titan unlocked:

MARSHAL JAGUARION, DEFENDER OF THE EARTH

When the Invaders swarmed over the Earth, all human beings were scattered in terror. When the Unites States Army created Marshal Jaguarion, the invaders got back a taste of their own medicine. Jaguarion is one of the largest and most powerful Titans formed by a union of five combat modules. This Titan is equipped with a cyclopic Energy Blade, the most advanced technological weapon ever possessed by humankind, with which it could slaughter thousands of enemies. Marshal Jaguarion was capable of killing more Invaders than any other Titan in the initial phases of the war, and this earned him the title of Defender of the Earth.

Those Myrmidons are still a little too on-the-nose. They're clearly the Sutherland Knightmare Frames from Code Geass.

It's too bad they didn't to a pack of 15x Gunmen - that would be pretty funny

Cool Monsters! Not sure I'd play the game though.

More updates:

Update #8

New social stretch goal unlocked!

Thanks to the community the bright version of Traitor Zacharius is been unlocked...

BLAZING STAR will fight with the Earth Federation!

Please continue to click the hearths on boardgame geek, the next goal is the solo campaign execution!

Update #9

New Stretch Goal unlocked!

A new overlord enters the battle!

FATHER ZAUVAR, THE FIRST
Father Zauvar is the patriarch of the Megas, an ancient and malevolent population from planet Mars, and a grotesque giant creature, as well: his abnormal skull, shattered eons ago during the last battle fought with the Shik'har, has been replaced by a transparent enclosure that exposes his horrendous pulsating brain. Being unable to speak due to the endured injuries, he uses Sorak, one of his most trusted followers, to interact with the Megas troops. His incredible mental attacks are a deadly weapon, that can reduce to impotence even the most tenacious of Pilots.

Thanks to you our kickstarter is growing, so very soon we will update the kicsktarter page to better recap all the unlcoked items!

Now let's head to the next goal!

Another optional buy:

Update #12

New optional buy: Melody of war pack!

Hello backers, with this new update we are glad to introduce the OAV cards set.

The "OAVs" are themed Episode Cards decks, which tell a specific story and allow the Players to live it as if it was an OAV (Original Anime Video) of the War Titans "main series". Each "OAV" comes with a dedicated Final Episode, which the Players are required to play, instead of drawing a random one.

OAV - Melody of War: Dorras has assembled an army of Zering, those genetic warriors are built with a single purpose: the extinction of mankind!

I might skip this one, as the titan doesn't really appeal to me - but I'm also a bit of a completionist, and realistically speaking, when will the next Super Robot vs. Kaiju game be coming along?

(I'll probably get it for the Overlord, if nothing else!)

The homages are nice, but this is just one of those kickstarters that reeks it’s going to have problems.

If they can get it to retail, I’ll probably pick it up. I think the trick will be for them to get it that far.

It never ends well

Agree. Especially as the KS failed to fund 2 or 3 times before this time. Obviously, the original vision was pure homages, and that's not what they're doing now. Just how hard are they going to push to deliver something that isn't what they really wanted?

I think this goes the way of Heroquest 25th

Made in us
Willing Inquisitorial Excruciator

Ha!

It won't be that bad - the only thing that bad was Palladium's trainwreck - and at least that partially delivered.

Heroquest will most likely never deliver, at least not to the majority of its backers.

Why the Nighthawk? Why not an F-22 or A-10? Or go retro and make a guardian mode Sabre?

Haha, nope. Robotech got $1.4M. HQ25 got 680kE. WTIMD has raised less than $50k from barely 400-odd backers with less than 1/10 the funding as HQ25, there is zero chance they actually deliver anything.

Less than $1M for a miniatures-heavy boardgame is a HUGE red flag.

Not always?

I suppose we'll see?

That's the nature of Kickstarter though, ultimately.

I'm willing to gamble a bit here in the hopes that they'll deliver this product.

Which stretch goal unlocks the older, better designs?

Made in us
Willing Inquisitorial Excruciator

Unlikely, as the 'older designs' were considered 'not different enough' to keep them out of trouble as well as 'better' being a subjective term.

In fact, if these designs keep them out of trouble, they're actually...better.

But actually, who knows?

Shoot them a PM!

That's fair.

I just think they're not going to have enough total revenue to do all of the things that they promise.

But then it looks like maybe you backed HQ25, so it's not your first rodeo with that sort of gamble. You're a braver man than I, so I wish you luck if you back

I *wanted* to back HQ25, but once they had their initial 'legal trouble' and then left KS and wandered over to "Lanzanos", I tapped out.

I was also initially in on Robotech w/ Palladium, but dropped out as I was never really a big fan of Robotech, being more of a Super Robot/Kaiju kind of guy, so bullet dodged there too.

I will be unable to resist this one, but I'm certainly aware of the risks here - just hoping for the best!

I think 'barely funding' carries as much risk as 'super-over funding' for companies like this, but...fingers crossed!

Emphases on "partially", there. Huge emphases.

I guess due to Macross Frontier. The VF-171 is a refinement of the VF-17:

VF-17 Nightmare

VF-171 Nightmare

Power of music and all that is kind of Macross' thing.

This one got canceled a few days before it funded, and it would have *barely* funded.

Probably for the best, as it might have become another KS that failed to deliver, or didn't deliver fully.

The dream of a Super Robot vs. Kaiju game is not dead - but it has certainly been delayed...

...again!
