How do?
So at long last, for the first time in many peoples memories, we’re finally getting back to Ork Kultur. Goffs, Snakesbites and Deffskulls, oh my!
Not only are they nice little perks for your army, but they also offer a rewarding konvershun and paint scheme opportunity. And that’s what I’m looking to pick your brains for in this thread. Could be paint schemes (easily replicated or intricate), could be scratch builds, kitbashes and that. Anything goes.
Here’s one for starters, and it might prove useful to those with existing armies from the age of No Kulturs. Particularly if you’re tempted by multiple themed detachments (or even going multi detachment to get the rules you want). It’s really very simple.
The scenario is you’ve not previously put too much thought into Kultur Appropirate Paint Schemes. And with the sheer number of Boyz in your average army, repainting might seem like just too much bother.
My answer? Banna Boyz. Glyph Plates and Bannas are a long time feature of Orky Armies. At least, they were. But we can adopt them once again for simple, irrefutable visual keys for both you and your opponent, showing exactly which unit is which Kultur.
All you really need to do is pick up some of the Warhammer Orc Banner Arms and tops. Maybe an extra box of Boyz as well, if you don’t fancy hacking up an already painted model.
From there, you’ve got a literal canvas to scrawl your chosen Kultur Icon on. It stands out. It’s unmistakeable. It’s a doddle. And if you’re really handy with magnets, you could even magnetise the top of the pole, allowing you to swap out the Icon from game to game. Useful for casual games, where your list is possibly more variable game to game. Also useful for fine tuning tournament lists during practice.
The bits shouldn’t be too expensive, as every box of Orcs comes with one, and most units only really want the one banner, but will be comprised of multiple boxes of Orcs. If you’re particularly converty, it’s also not terribly hard to make your own from scratch. Either in the Warhammer style, or closer to the original Back Banners Of Rogue Trader.
Minimum effort. Maximum impact, and flexibility if you magnetised.
Right, anyone else?
