Any leaks as to the new system?
If it is basically old Epic 40K with 28mm figs I'd love it!!
(although playing 40K with Epic figs feels right to me as well!)
(no need to change distance or anything... )

It's only just been announced, not even a release date has been given. I don't expect full leaks until preorders are up.

When they did this 10 years ago, we got the bane blade. I think it was the first super heavy kit that you didn't have to get from FW. I could be wrong though.
I be wonder if we're going to get more super heavies.

A couple of predictions:
1) Probably a new super heavy for someone...maybe two?
2) People will flip their gak because it'll probably be based around power level.
3) Super-deadly stratagem (silly stuff like 3D6 mortal wound orbital bombardments, etc.)
4) Underwhelming box contents - probably pricey (Urban Conquest was a serious flop)
At 40K's current scale I no longer really see the need for an Apoc game...but I know a lot of people still enjoy them.

It says it should play faster. The EPIC that was re launched around 2000 was their best rules set. I would love to see them use that as a base instead of 40k.
These rules are not good as a game.

This is the other extreme of Kill Team where it provides a better rule system to the players already established. Neither actually requires a large product range( the models and terrain are already in the hands of players ) but just additional books and game accessories.
Not sure if I would use it myself, but then again I seem to have an ever growing collection of Tyranid genestealers and gaunts. This could be popular with swarm-based armies...

Curious, as I would disagree immensely, if we're talking about the same Epic relaunch (not the later conversion). The initial late-90's Epic was a massive let-down after the original game.

Looks like fun, I'm dying to get all my models on one board. We can't play current apoc right now because nobody has time.

I don't want the best army, just one that isn't an exercise in picking up my models by turn 3.

there, fixed it for ya.
I hope that they use unit shooting profiles not individual models. itll be interesting to see how they implement "time saving" features into the already good 8th ed base rules+ CA& UC up to date.

40k is already Apocalypse scale.
What's the point of this product?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

One of my favorite games ever was a whole store pushing all the tables together and 10-14 of us playing apocalypse. It was fun. You brought all of your models and had a good time. It was silly, there were shenanigans.

So, a standard 2000 point game.

That would make me happy. It would be extremely cool if they re-boxed with an upgrade sprue to give us good kustom stompa rules, but that's probably just me being greedy since we're lucky enough to have a (relatively) cheap plastic titan kit. (My super-duper greedy wish is a Kustom Battle Fortress kit with tons of options.)

Any speculation on who's gonna get what?

Orks already have the Stompa, IG already have the Baneblade, CSM have the Lord of Skulls and Necrons have the Obelisk/Tesseract Vault. Those were released for Apocalypse back in the day, right? Am I missing anything from that release?
There are Knights and Knight-equivalents, which the Imperium, Eldar and Tau have (and Orks sort-of).
So that leaves Tyranids and Dark Eldar in the cold as far as major factions without anything in plastic, right? Am I forgetting anyone?
I'm guessing that the will be a Primaris flyer in plastic just close enough to a Thunderhawk to make all the classic SM players mad.

I wonder if they'll be including rules for Forge World units as well?
I'm also curious if they might have rules for playing the game at Titanicus scale? (Not that we shouldn't be able to figure it out ourselves pretty easily.

I get the feeling this is going to be a different game entirely from just 40k at a high points level. Much like Kill Team isn't just 40k with ten models.

GW has plenty of games, both ancient and recent, that use D12s, D20s, D10s and other dice: Burning of Prospero, Kill Team, Blackstone Fortress, Blood Bowl through all the editions, etc...
