Loads of really good entries and I'm gutted I couldn't enter. I limited myself to five votes, even though I could have voted for way more! QAR, Modock, Zobo, Chris56 & DanceofSlaanesh got my votes on this one.

Ah crap, I missed that I could have placed more than one vote!

Voted Ezki, but if I had realised I'd have also voted for Feltmonkey and Mordock.

Couple of votes in from me, might just be me but spiralingcadaver's doesn't load although I can see it on the challenge page.

Lots of great entries this month but my favorite is from Chris56. The cloak on the librarian is just great.

My votes this month go to Maharg and DanceOfSlaanesh. Two simple, understated, and clean miniatures that are full of character and nostalgia.

On Maharg's, I especially like the clean yellow and uniformity of the paint work. Reminiscent of the youtuber Jawaballs' stuff. I like it!

For DanceOfSlaanesh, the contrast on the sword is excellent, and the pose is cool as well. Way better than the overdone and classic pointy sword in the air "chaaarge!" pose (not like my entry has that or anything ). Subtle blends on the armour panels do wonders for the overall finish too.

P.S. For what it's worth, my entry is labelled slightly incorrectly too, not that it particularly matters (he's a captain instead of a lieutenant, but it's not a crisis!).

Well done this month everyone, there were several great entries to gawk at - I voted the way I did because I observed a clean and nostalgic continuity on two miniatures that were simple but well executed.

Pretty good group of entries this time around! Sadly not enough time to comment on everyone's entries, but I will say that it was tough to narrow it down to 5 votes. They were:
queen_annes_revenge: That guy really captures the feel of World Eaters to me. He's so bent on killing things that he doesn't even need a chestplate!
Maharg: I love the crisp paint job on that Blood Angel! The edge highlighting in particular is well done.
ZoBo: Mad props to you for getting that massive thing done in a month! It looks great too!
lipsdapips: Whether he's a Captain or a Lieutenant, he looks great! You do know how to make Marines look very clean and crisp.
DanceOfSlaanesh: The blends and highlights on that Blood Angel are exceptionally well done. Truly a wonderful model!

As for my own entry, I could have done much better had I focused on it over the course of the month instead of rushing most of it at the end. I just didn't have much motivation for some reason, but at least I got something done, right? That's what everyone should be saying regardless of how many votes they get. Shout out as always to Paradigm for taking the time out of his busy college schedule to organize these things. We all appreciate it, buddy! See you all in the next challenge!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I voted for Queen_Anne's_Revenge because it's a cool idea for a bat-gak crazy World Eater.

I voted for Paradigm's nice punchy-feller.

I voted for Maharg's simple and classic Space Marine.

The vast majority of others either had poor photos or were just over-the-top enough to put me off. I'm a big fan of less-is-more with Space Marines so I quickly "nah" anything with too much going on.

I kept quiet for a while, but it's been 2 days since it was pointed out: my image link is broken, and that's really irritating. It's not like this contest was for anything, but that also means that the only reason to participate is, well, participating. I've got very little time, and it was a bit of a push to enter anything at all. Again I recognize that this isn't anything with stakes or whatever, but I'm pretty disappointed at the lack of professionalism. I thought this would be a fun way to work on little projects and join a community in some small fashion, but this experience soured me to the process.

FWIW - I think your Huron was impressive.

Para does a pretty outstanding job running the contests and this sort of thing doesn't usually happen. He probably hasn't been on since he posted the poll (I think he is wrapping up a semester in Uni) which is why it wasn't fixed.

Apologies for the error, for some reason the link was working at the time I added your entry to the original OP, but has since stopped functioning. I'll update it. As mentioned in the post that originally flagged the issue, it was visible in the original thread from which I copied over the entries, so I assumed it was some form of browser issue as the link itself had not changed.

Adding in the replacement link, it seems a tag or two in the URL may have changed, that could be what caused it although usually links to the Dakka gallery can survive those changing (otherwise images would disappear the moment someone added or removed a tag), so I'm not sure.

As mentioned, I am a little pressed for time at the minute, so the odd mistake does slip through the net as I try and get the polls up and running in a timely manner. I'm sorry it's soured your experience of the challenge, but I hope you'll appreciate that there was no malice or intent behind the nonfunctioning link, simply a rare oversight.

take it easy dude, it was just a mistake. Computers and all that. don't let it ruin this for you. for what its worth, the freehand on your Hurons cloak is sweet. The picture is a little dark though, and the contrast is super high. maybe work on that for your future entries so they can be seen a little better.

Speeeeeerrrrrccce Muuuuhreeeene! (copyright all the orks from the old Space Marine game by Relic.)

Nevelon - This month is right up your alley, or course. Three more Ultramarines for the huge army. Clean painting and good snow bases as usual.

queen_annes_revenge - I think I mentioned in the thread, but I really like this. It's excellent. Great work on the armour particularly.

Rybrook - Clean, neat painting. Nice details, and good use of transfers. I do find the enormous plinth kind of funny though.

ZergSmasher - Nice work. I like the faces, and the bases. The freehand symbols are good too.

Captain Brown - Nice painting. I like his determined face. The proportions on the kitbash bother me though. He seems to have really short legs and one very long arm.

Modock - Amazing as ever, one of your finest Infinity models to my eyes, in fact. I think it's a bit unfair that some people said in one of the other threads that they might not vote for something like this because it's almost routine how good your paintjobs are. I think that level of skill and particularly the time it takes to produce a paintjob like this deserves the reward of a vote. I can't remember the last time I didn't vote for you. I think you've got a vote from me every month you've entered, actually.

Midget Gems - The red tone of the armour is very nice, and all the details are nicely painted, particularly the feathers on the aquillas.

DrGiggles - Quite a characterful little model. Good work on the base, and I like his skull kebab.

Maharg - Good, neat painting. Are the symbols freehand? They look really good. One thing that you could do is paint the undersuit bits between the armour panels - particularly behind the knees and at the top of the thighs could be a different colour to the armour, probably black or dark grey. This really helps define the armour panels and make them stand out.

Jadenim - Nice neat painting. The face of the guy with his helmet off is good.

ZoBo - Super, super neat, with exceptionally smooth paint coverage. Kudos for taking on something so massive as well! The blood tanks are my favorite bit.

Flinty - Good colourful stuff. I like the little ideas like the design on the loincloth, and the sort of flaming circle on the shoulder.

Ferrous695 - A classic Dark Vengeance librarian. Where have I seen that model before? <checks own avatar> Nice work on the cloak.

lipsdapips - The best thing I've seen you do, I reckon. Super-neat, with excellent edge highlights as usual, but that little bit of a gradient on areas like the chest/stomach armour helps make it stand out, stops the armour panels looking flat. Great work,

Deadshot - A nicely over-the -top techmarine. More servo-arms! All the servo-arms! Have you magnetized them for extra options? Nice work.

spirallingcadaver - Great freehand on the cloak, and excellent OSL on the rocks. The way you photograph your minis can sometimes make it slightly difficult to pick out individual bits of painting, but this is obviously a pretty spectacular paintjob. It's a real shame that your entry suffered from a technical glitch, I think it definitely cost you a number of votes unfortunately. I hope it doesn't put you off, as it wasn't done maliciously - accidents can happen. I think the accusation of unprofessionalism is a bit unfair - Paradigm doesn't get paid for this! It's not an official thing (see the thread title) but something he's been organising in his own time for several years without fail, while doing university work at the same time (I think - apologies if this is incorrect, Para.) I hope you'll be back next month.

Ezki - Good stuff, very neat Eavy Metal style painting. I also like the base a lot.

DukeOfBeer - Very nice. I don't remember seeing anything else quite like this from you before. You've done a great job on her face.

SmallChanges - NIce clean painting, not easy on a model with so many metallic bits. I imagine him using his Sword-on-a-Stick for bursting balloons, for some reason.

Paradigm - I really like this. You've got a very nice yellow tone, and the face and weathering are excellent. All your marines always look absolutely knackered.

Tim 121RVC - A simple idea executed quite effectively. Perhaps a few spots of moss or splats of pigeon droppings could have added a little interest to the stonework.

Chris56 - Tremendous as usual. I love that freehand, and how the chestplate on the center marine is highlighted so brightly it almost seems to glow. I also just love the seashells on the base.

feltmonkey - I dunno if it's a reflection of my current mental state, but to be honest I really hate it. As I say, possibly a result of a higher than normal level of stress and bouts of depression. I might have to put it away and look at it again in a few months.

DanceOfSlaanesh - Extemely neat and clean. Great blends, super-solid edge highlighting and black lining, and topped off with a fantastic-looking sword. Great work.

vejut - A cool model, and the yellow undersuit helps make the camouflaged armour panels stand out. I heard an interesting thing about blue camo on a podcast the other day - the army and navy hate it and won't wear it, because the only thing it camouflages you against is the sea, so if you fall overboard it makes it more difficult to rescue you! I'm not sure that would be a particular problem for this guy.

SirOllox - Good and clean. The black lining is very effective, and the face of the imperial fist guy is nicely done.

possumcraft - Great colour choices, and I love the bright pink gun with the designs painted on. It adds a lot of character to an already characterful model.

CREEEEEED - Great job on the black armour. Good work all round, actually.

Great job, everyone! Forward onto April! See you then.

Hi all

Apologies for the late response, I wanted to give everyone a comment for the first challenge of the end but its taken me until now to write them.

This was a fun month to take part in and vote for, I don't think any 1 entry stood out from its competitors so lots of spreading of the vote, this might be the closest month ever in terms of the top 10 entries just a few votes from each other.

Nevelon - Good eyes, managed to get them right which can be tricky

queen_annes_revenge - Great idea, a really unique model but fits in perfectly with the Word Bearers theme, lovely tones on the skin, armour and all round.

Rybrook - 2 good looking model, the landspeeder is hard and partly in shadow to see but looks like there could be some nice details on it

ZergSmasher - Nice to see the Blood Ravens getting some reinforcements, they need it, well done Zerg

Captain Brown - A cool combination of parts and well painted

Modock - Another awesomely painted model, I really like that you have taken the time and effort to highlight each scale on the mesh armour

Midget Gems - Acceptable give the amount of work I've had this month, happy I'm making some progress with adding squads to my chapter and more than anything this month has made me try to sort out the lore I was creating around my custom chapter, I've expanded it quite a bit and had fun doing so

DrGiggles - Think I commented in the challange thread but yeah I like the extra detail of putting the chaos/krone symbol on the base ruins

Maharg - Nice crisp paint job with good highlights

Jadenim - These guys look pretty cool, the base is a nice touch as well with a minimal details which is a nice offset

ZoBo - Wow well done for getting such a monster completed, I'm glad we convinced you to post it up, the fluid levels on the tanks are a great idea.

Flinty - Nice freehand and battle damage on the armour, gives them a lot more character.

Ferrous695 - Good shading on and cloak and a nice model all round.

lipsdapips - some great detail e.g. the yellow and black on the small cable by his neck,

Deadshot -Thats an impressive tech marine harness, is it all magnetized?

spirallingcadaver - Every atmospheric photos and painting, great freehand on the cloak, shame about the photo losing its link but Para is always quick to respond when someone highlights there's an issue.

Ezki - Good clean painting and highlighting, I really like the NMM Gold, icicles are a cool touch

DukeOfBeer - Well done for going for a dark skin tone, you don't see too many models painted that way, would like to see a bigger pic to see all the details

SmallChanges - I like the extras you have added, the spear is very cool and the bike tracks on the base is a good idea.

Paradigm - Well done for trying a new technique Para with your trademark bloody mess/grim mark touches

Tim 121RVC - great idea, this as come out very well and a really well executed idea

Chris56 - Amazing freehand on the cloak, would have loved to see a close up of it, superb painting and detailing all around.

feltmonkey - Nice idea Felt, I think that you are always thinking of different ways to showcase your painting, it shows your talent

DanceOfSlaanesh - This entry just goes to show that a simple model (not meant in a bad way) painted really well can look amazing. Great work

vejut - .Nice model, vejut, interestingly the base blends in really well with your worktop

SirOllox - Good clean paint job, well done

possumcraft - Nice model, you have done well with the details on the base and the little bits of freehand

CREEEEEED - the orange helmet works well contrasting the black. Black is strangely a colour that's very hard to paint.

Good luck everyone

Thanks for the feedback guys! The Flamer arm isn't magnetised but all the rest are. I wasn't originally going to but the glue wasn't strong enough and it worked out anyway so I can either run a single-arm or full harness, so worked out in the end.

Also wanna say thanks to you guys for putting up feedback for everyone. Guys like you who get high scores consistantly will always get feedback and praise, its really nice as a 1%er to get a little kudos now and again so its very much appreciated.

Thanks Feltmonkey, yeah you're right, it doesn't take just a few hours to paint these minis. I put quite an effort to paint them. Also my paint schemes are always evolvoving.
I do minor changes to recipes and so on.
Onto your miniature. I think you did a great job, it very smooth and precise. I like the face a lot, it gives a very serious vibe. Maybe I miss a bit of contrast on the blue armor bit that's it.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope the things get better as soon as possible.

Thanks MG. The arm and the gun took the most time. I had to redo the hexagon suit two times. The details are so damn small, I do mistakes even with magnifying glasses.
