The article specifically highlights several core factions of the Eldar
Asuryani - craftworld eldar - lots of models, full core army

Drukhari - dark elves - full core army

Harlequins - supporting army

Exodites - no models

Ynnead - supporting army (newestish)

So as GW specifically called out the Exodites I wonder if this strongly hints that they will give them some proper attention! Bringing them up at least to the leve of Harlequins and Ynnead in giving a few core models to the force and then the option to draft in at least Craftworld Eldar without any allied restrictions. Dinosaurs with lasers might become modern 40K reality!

GDC is a lore series. Taking it as an indication of specific upcoming releases is dubious at best.

Agreed, however it would seem odd for the community site to highlight a specific part of the lore that has honestly been mostly ignored for the last many years and to put it so boldly alongside other aspects that are model supported. There are other subfactions of the Eldar that they could have put into the lore article if it was covering them in a more generalist way. To do otherwise is a marketing fault to basically have only 1 of those they choose to show without models.

I do agree, lore and artwork are NEVER confirmations of future models.

They're mentioned in material from GW from time to time. The list of Eldar factions - not sure if it's in the codex or the BRB - includes Exodites (and Corsairs and [Redacted]).

It's too bad Corsairs didn't get mentioned, although they're expats/exiles of the other civilizations, not a civilization unto themselves.

They also didn't bring up [Redacted]. Fairly sure they're Crone Worlders.

I find it interesting that there was no mention of Corsairs.
I guess that makes enough sense. Corsairs have always been that grey area between Asuryani and Drukhari, so there is fluff and rules enough from either to create a decent Corsair force.

With Ynnari around the corner in the May WD, this fluff article seems well timed.

The image you are referring to is in the BRB in the Xenos section.
I also think the [Redacted] are either Crone Worlders, or Chaos Eldar. Especially considering the picture next to [Redacted] looks like a Skaven-Eldar mutant

In fairness, I was shocked that AoS got Fish-elves before Exodites in 40K. GW consistently comes out with new factions before entertaining old ones. Genestealer Cults and Harlequins being notable exceptions.

The best Exodite models are kitbashes. I kinda don't want GW to introduce "official" models for them.

Yeah but official ones won't stop kitbashes - if anything they will encourage them if there's official rules out for the game and official models.

If they don't grammar check the article then I doubt it's a hint of models.
Unless make use soul stones is a sentence and I've missed it...

Plus GW hates armies that encourage kitbashing apparently.

They also called out DE yet in the last 5 years or so they've done nothing but remove models from the codex.

QFT. Exodites are mentioned "fairly" regularly in Eldar lore. I wouldnt buy into it too much - at least in the short to medium term.
Its been pretty much confirmed Primaris mk2, Sisters and Ynarri are this years big releases iirc.

I will be really quite annoyed if they do Exodites while my Corsairs are still flailing around headless with no real rules.

Where have you seen Ynarri confirmed (or even hinted at)? They are getting an Index fix in White Dwarf, same as Assassins did. To me that implies they are not planning on doing anything else with them for the time being or they would just wait for the full codex release to fix them.

Tbh, these WD indices seem like part of a plan to finally end the Index books, any list that gets a WD Index would seem unlikely to ever get a Codex.

There is no confirm for Ynnari, just a sneak peak that they will be in the next WD.

Exodites could be really interesting.....

Exodites would have been a far more interesting model line than Harlequins (could have stuck as one or two boxes of models), or Ynnari. If one more random Eldar off-shoot gets models before proper Craftworlders do...whatever...(grumble grumble)

The exodite artwork was new yes?
If it is... Hmm.. could very intersting.

I do assume its probably just a marketing gimmick to create some stirring before may WD though rather than an omen that they are listening to what the eldar customers want. Time will tell.

If they were listening to what we want, we'd get corsairs back, a less gakky ruleset, and freaking plastic kits for ****s sake. Hell, a nice facelift on the 20 year old kits would be the death of my wallet for months.

Gotta make more power armor tho.

Corsairs is FW, GW cares more about the core of 40k more than Corsairs. They most likely talked about it and put them off the table for now, they haven't had the main kit for years (yes years).

yea but if the artwork is new concept art... A salamanders vs Exodite boxset with new units would blow ppls minds. Just imagine!!!! Imagine.... Imagine!!

Lets face it GW will happily make new marine units so theres half the battle won.

Oh trust me, I am painfully aware of that. Been around for a bit, but not as long as some. Kinda sick of the shameful way GW treats its non human factions.

They got 3 boxes and 3 blisters, only one of the boxes was truly new - bikes go way back and no new characters were introduced at all. I'd love to see Exodites, but the space murder clowns didn't exactly get a huge release.

Harlequins has been around for a long time as well, they were just updating them not making a new army. Its also just infantry units and a couple small vehicles, Exodites are going to be large kits Tverigon size ones at least. Its a different world compare to updating Harlequins.
