I want to pick up some things but don't really have the resources to right now. Thinking of picking up Grey Goo, which is a neat little RTS, and is fairly cheap on sale.

Picked up Ghost Recon Wildlands for about $12. Gunplay is fun, but the game overall is disappointingly shallow. [Go place, shoot guys, repeat. Shoot endless waves of reinforcements if enemies are purple).

Which I should have really expected from Ubisoft.

Debating picking up Battle Brothers, but I'm honestly not sure I won't lose interest in it.

The 'grand prix' race amuses me, because it got gamed by the Steam community almost instantly. The games people are requesting as prizes amuses me (you can see the top 3 awarded games for each day if you dig around in the terrible UI a bit):
#1 Cyberpunk (Which is top requested prize for every single race, beating out everything else that actually exists)
#2 Sekiro
#3 TW: Three Kingdoms
#4 Octopath Traveler
#5 Grand Theft Auto V (contrary to Cyberpunk, a 4 year old game)

The game is honestly only worth it if you have friends to play with. It's a shenanigans game. If you don't have anyone to have shenanigans with, it's a very run of the mill experience.

If you are considering Battle Brothers, it is a great time to buy in. It's a game of punishing difficulty, unpredictable and often disastrous moments, and a struggle simply to survive.

In a word, glorious!

The one problem with the game was that it always started out the same way, which does get a bit tiresome after a while. If you do buy the base game, the must have expansion is Warriors of the North, because it adds many new ways to start, including cultists, a single knight, an entire company of militia, poachers, beast hunters and more. That's 9 bucks, but it's also not on sale at all- so get the base game now, and if you want to go deeper later, it own't cost you anymore.

Beasts and Exploration adds monster variety, and crafting. It also makes the game much harder, as the monsters generally require specific weapons or strategies to not have your carefully raised mercenaries devoured.

I am (obviously) very heavily biased, and am presently at over 1300 hours on the game. If you like really hard turn based combat, it's one of the best out there.

Some Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeny has compared the Steam Summer sale to "Surprise Mechanics" and made the bold claim that Epic Games Store had a more successful sale.

It's a bold play lets see how that goes for him

Well, that's adorable.

Got Strange Brigade and had the misfortune of picking team PIG on the first day.. Valve tried to balance things out but as has been said, the system is being gamed hard, so this'll be something they won't be doing in the future again.

Might pick up one or two other things, not sure yet. Maybe MudRunner or Volcanoids.

I migth get the latest expasion for Grimdawn, I enjoyed the basedgame and the first expasion. The Ashes of Malmout(spelling?) was also good fun if a bit restrictive in the exploration department once you got towards the end. but still well worth the coin and time

Yes. Decided to go ahead and buy it. My first company lasted all of 46 minutes. Lost a fisherman to the default battle against the Weasel (head went flying), but it seemed fairly straightforward. A quick delivery went well, and then I opted for a caravan escort.... which drove straight into 8 bandits and 6 orcs simultaneously. Some of the bandits did split off to fight the orcs, but I quickly heard their screams from the darkness. Killed all the bandits, but didn't expect the orcs' charge attacks. So got the 'Time to Rebuild' (lose half the company) and 'Lessons Learned' (lose a game) achievement in under an hour.

There are a few older games I would like to pick up eventually, but honestly I always just figure I’ll hold off as I know they will be back on sale in a few months and I have quite the video game backlog.

I wanted to get the borderlands handsome jack series (like 250 USD worth of stuff on sale for less than 6 USD right now) and then changed my mind. I'll only get my refund one week after purchase which is after the summer sale is over. This means i can't buy the Grim Dawn expansion i wanted one way or another. I'll probably just get the Handsome Jack collection anyway now because of that.

Grabbed a few things, the two recent mini-expansion for Endless Space (the new quests and new versions of classic music from the first game); the latest expansion from Endless Legends (really hoping that EL 2 is on the developing table!).

I also grabbed the base game of Surviving Mars and Three Kingdoms: The Last Warlord

I've half a mind to grab one or two more Cities Skylines expansions on discount, but they come up fairly regularly on sale so I'm not too pressed.

I'm really tempted by Band of Brothers as it sounds cool. However, every time I see the 'Prison Architect' style art style it really puts me off!

Got my refund just in time and got the Grim Dawn expansion pack. All is right in the world. I can have the necromancer profession and maybe occultist too. Those sound most fun off the bat.

This is what happens when you pick an internet meme animal. Hopefully steam learns a lesson on this one.

As for me I picked up a ton of stuff.

Inqusitor (Which so far has been a fun and great game, I really don't get all the hate for it.)
Cities: Skylines
The first two witcher titles.

I got ABZU and I picked up Chaos Bane too.

The corgie wasn't the issue though - the race winner only meant a handful of people won a few free games from their list. The real issue was the idea of winning things from the list which caused loads to panic remove all the cheap stuff until steam confirmed that it was the top "ranked" items only that were picked from.

The other issue was how they made the points re-set in the early days and then disabled it in the latter (unless you spent lots more money of course).

But the corgie winning most days just meant that the same pool of people got a tiny chance to win a game - and its really such a tiny percentage of people that it doesn't matter which team wins.

Also if you get DLC for Cities Skylines I recommend getting the Transport and Industry DLC packs. The first expands your transporting options over the city whilst the industries builds in a load of great industrial buildings and the idea of having industrial zones geared toward specific focuses (minerals, farming, forestry, oil) as well as a casual chain of production setup and some huge industrical complexes to produce products. Several of which require more tahn one working industry to produce their product. Overall it adds a great layer to the game beyond just working out traffic jams.

Even at a discount (and disregarding music and community packs), they still come out to more than a full game. They went kind of nuts on DLC.
