Awesome job Ramos, I really like the color scheme, with the reds here and there on the figure.

Ecellent work, Ramos. I love all the details (knives, etc.) that you added. Can't wait to see them in person.

Thank you everyone!
You guys really keep me motivated. Ok! Almost done now!
Here's the tac squad and its sergeant:

I am officially on the home stretch!
Final project is the 10 man tac squad. A bonus though is all the heads and arms are done, so its just bodies and backpacks!

Thanks! In truth the sword is super simple, and requires only a rudimentary level of skill with an airbrush.

SL: I actually wrote up a tutorial on the technique I used HERE The only difference is color choices. On the sergeant's blade I used a base of Golden Yellow, then blood red, then a bit of chaos black mixed into the blood red!
Seems like that was more than enough to really make the effect pop!

In progress news: Tac Squad 2 is basecoated and washed!

5 days, 10 marines. Seems reasonable.

OK!
So I actually made pretty killer time with these guys, all things considered...

May I present the Marines Errant detachment of the Redeemers of the Maelstrom!

(The Neph makes it really hard to get good army shots!)

I also think Ive banged out the various names for the force:
Marines Errant Army List wrote:

(HVY) Devastator Squad Secundus: Sgt. Garu commanding
(TRP) Tactical Squad Primus: Vet. Sgt. Nevra commanding
(TRP) Tactical Squad Secundus: Vet Sgt. Vitellius commanding - Razorback "Shield of Vilamus"
(FA) Nephilim Fighter: "Star of Vengance"

And a close up of the second tactical squad:

All around, especially on the second Tac squad, I have a good deal of details to paint in, however I'm finally at that playable level. I'm going to spend the rest of the time between now and Thursday getting some more details on.

Hard to believe its only been a month since I started this project! I'm really surprised how it all came together, even with losing a week due to illness and work.
An army in 3 weeks.... Not something I'd want to do again xD

OH-I Wanna get out of here

And think, for the first time (that I know of) you have a fully coherent, fully painted army!

I'm guessing you are going to need a break from marines for some time, but do you plan on expanding outside of future years list? Might be nice to bring it to a 1500 and 1850 point list, if nothing else.

I'll try to get your list all personalized and printed this week, rather than make you do it Thursday night.

Really nice army Ramos, I agree that in the future would be necessary to bring It at 1500 pt or more, just for the sake of It ( and for your fans )

Hahaha Thank you all for the complements ^^ (God I have fans!? You're gonna give me an even bigger head, SS!)

Its been an experience to say the least... Everything jumping in the way, breaking through "The Wall"... And its not even over yet! I still have a tournament to go to!

Honestly I've not thought much on expanding the force, though the idea is not entirely out of the question. (I think much of the reason for this is the lack of time to think!!) But I think that'd be kinda cool to build the list up. Could be fun to organize a larger Battle of Badab Apocalypse-esque match in the future...

For the moment, I think the primary project is to finish these guys 100%... After that, I think Im going to re-think my white technique. Painting over black wash is rough! Depending on how it turns out, I may even start getting rid of some of these guys, replacing them with the "new" marines colors....

Though all that is way into the future, really... For now its focus on Adepticon!!
After that, who knows what commissions will bring

Final update here before beginning my journey to Adepticon tomorrow:

Just in case any of you missed this post on Gitsplitta's blog (in which case, SHAME ON YOU GET OVER AND READ HIS BLOG NOW! )

 Gitsplitta wrote:
Just wanted to remind everyone...

On the Friday night of Adepticon at approximately 7 PM (or as soon as we can find a free table in the main hall), the Wardens of the Maelstrom and the Redeemers of the Maelstrom will revive the epic stuggle of the Badab war. 8000 points (or two full Adepticon teams), 4 rebels, 4 loyalists will vie for superiority on a desolate battlefield in that far-flung region of space. The Fire Hawks, Red Scorpions, Marines Errant and their Adeptus Mechanicus allies will try to bring the four rebel chapters... Tiger Claws, Lamenters, Executioners and the Mantis Warriors to heal.

We invite all of you to come join us to witness this historic event, and well as joining us in a mixer of sorts. A chance to meet us, see the armies in person & maybe even run one of these storied chapters whilst it's owner takes a pee break! We'll provide some limited quantity of libation and nosh to get things rolling... but it's probably best if you bring your own lest you be disappointed. We'll start to set up 7ish... but if you want to wait until the battle is rolling to swing by, 8 PM is probably a more reasonable time to join us.

Dakkanoughts on our two teams are...

Myself (Gitsplitta)
Solar_lion
Briancj
whalemusic360
Ramos Asura
Yellowbeard

inmygravenimage's... well... graven image!

I hope you can join us... it's going to be a really good time!

Feel free to cross-post this as you like. This is an open invitation to Dakka and the 40k community at large.

See you there!

P.S. Leaving Friday morning... until then I'm one majorly stressed puppy.

See you guys at Adepticon!

Aaaaand we're back!

Lost every game, but for the most part my opponents were really cool, especially the last couple of folks I played (one even convinced me to buy a contemptor dread )
Not to mention it was awesome to meet the Wardens. I dont think you could get a better group of guys together! plus, Yellowbeard made BEER!

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of free stuff in the swag bag at the con:

Next year though, Im definitely going to register early- WMs full swag bag was even more impressive!

And of course, I've got a lovely bunch of Forge World goodies

Stuff perhaps for next year.
Mk3 boarding party, complete with big ol shields.
Mk4 armor kit
Emperor's Children Contemptor Dread
A pair of contemptor dread arms (and an assault cannon is on the way)

The list next year will definitely get an overhaul, maybe with the addition of a trio of Rapiers- those things are wicked at popping vehicles!

A day or two to decompress and recover from the awesome convention, then we'll see what gets painted next!

Oh yeah! and dont forget to check out the Wardens' recap page HERE

So, After my latest streak of painting, I was wanting a break. I really didn't feel like painting what I had here, and Adepticon still burned brightly in my mind. Going to the con sparked a multitude of ideas in me, and got my mind racing towards the future. It inspired me to take the first step into a project I've been considering for a long time-

A Space Marine...

Oh yeah baby

As it stands now, this is at a VERY rough prototype stage. The joins are rough and primarily this is to give me an idea of what the process would entail. This is about 6-8 hours of work on and off, primarily with me being distracted by youtube or forum posts. Its a quick version, cobbled together from cheap printer paper. Plans are to fiberglass the surface giving a durable and smooth finish.
If I do continue this project, it will probably drift into its own thread.... For now though, I'll just leave it here.

This could prove to be a very interesting project indeed

Alrighty! So I finally got a little painting done.
I wanted to do something different, as for the past month I'd seen nothing but blue and white power armor, so I started on an old Space Wolf model I picked up at Adepticon:

And a few Zombies that were sitting around my desk:

I decided to try out a new skin tone on the zombies. That'll probably show up best when I get more colors on them and get close up shots of the models. Its actually kind of refreshing to get back into it... After these guys get finished, Im going to whip up a few of my turtle marines!

I've also made progress on the Armor Project:

I decided that I want to go with a Mk4 helmet for the simple reason that I've never seen it done before. Not to mention it looks nice
At this stage the helm is mostly done, and just needs the boxy cheek areas assembled. Pipes will be some kind of automotive hose.

Yeah, post-Adepticon is a great time to try odd little projects. I'm working on my Armorcast pipelines and refinery pieces. Wonderful terrain bits and things I've had around forever. Every time I look at them I see more that needs to be done.
