Wow Ramos, those marines are bloody nice man! so good to see a chapter not often painted and be done so well! I sheepishly should have been here sooner to check your stuff out but due to me being a FOOL! it slipped my aging feeble mind! but i'm sure glad i'm here now :-) and subbing right......now!

@WM: Understandable, though I think it suits them very nicely (not that Im biased, or anything Plus, Grey marines on Grey rubble would have been to monotonous. Brown basing makes em pop!

@Gits, YB, and cormade: Thank you! For a quickie job, Im glad it turned out as well as it did. In the future I'd like to pick out some of the details and grates on the rubble piece, but for now its good for the tournament!

Ok so lotsa airbrush work today- touch-ups on various spots on the Neph, painted the Razor's turret guns, and put the power sword colors on! Have to say I really like the color blend on the blade.




Also, the Razor is just about done, save for a decal or two. Its getting its gloss coat tonight, then decals in the morning.

Sword came out beautifully! Getting the details painted really makes a difference on the rhino.

That sword is amazing, Ramos. Nice work.

Razor is done!
I tried something new with these photos, using a black background rather than my usual white. I like the results!













I also got a rather pleasant surprise in the mail today...
My little brother brings me this envelope, and it took me a few minutes to figure out who it was.... SL sent me a whole bunch of Deathwatch pads!!

Great work man... love the radar thingie inside. The split white eagle on the front really makes a difference.

Razor looks good. Still don't like the split, but the details helped a ton. So what's left?

Fantastic work, Ramos! The RB looks great. Really love the subtle shading on the turquoise, and the details (interior, squiggles, name banner) really add a lot to it.

Hmm... I have just encountered an issue whilst painting.. There I was, getting metals done when suddenly everything around me blinks off and I'm plunged into darkness....

Apparently we have lost power.

Ugh.... just when im on a roll too! Well im trying something now and i think it will almost work... This is definitely proving to be quite a memorable project...

So I'm definitely crazy... Here's what I was working with during the power outage last night:


Painting by flashlight is really hard on your eyes... Got the metal up to its washed state on all the little bitz and bobs, though.

Fortunately, power is on (came on right after I decided to quit last night, actually xD ) and I'm back to making forward progress.

@Gits, YB, cormade, SS, IPS, DC: Thank you!

@WM: That's about right, and ya there's a tac squad 2. I'm at the cusp of finishing a majority of the marines right now- mostly its a lot of bitz painting. I figure for every update I actually take a picture of, there are another 3 things I don't. I'm actually a fair bit further than it may seem.

The Neph is perfectly playable, and well exceeds the 3 color rule... Thats sort of the reason it hasnt got much work on it recently. After the second tac squad is up to playable colors, then Ill go back and detail it if I have time.
Dev squads will both be finished at about the same time as the small tac squad, as all they need are heads and theyre done.
Finally the larger tac squad needs only to get to where the 5-man squad is at the moment, with major colors blocked out. that shouldnt take more than a few days. I plan to have army shots by Saturday, if not sooner, provided my luck holds out!

The Orks quickly saw the fatal flaw in the marines design.. Thus grot tipping parties have ravaged the imperial fist defense lines ever since that fateful day, when marine commander do-hickey tripped and fell on his face.

Its a fantastic paint job, just had to had humor to the grim dark.

That black background really does look good, will have to try and get hold of something like that myself. Really like the weathering on the razorback, subtle but very effective, what on earth did you do it with?

C panda --- very funny... my take....Vesrus having just put in 4 months painting his entry into the Golden throne Imperial SM painting contest, drops the figures osl Plasma pistol on the floor.. He miss's the deadline and is still franticly seaching for it.

@Ignatius: My setup is real simple, though it needs a TON of tweaking to look right, lest you end up with pics like mine today ><
All it is is two sheets of black card stock and a good daylight bulb. Then a wash in Photoshop and it looks all pretty! My white backgrounds are the same way, though less finicky about lighting, it seems. Two pieces of white printer paper.
Weathering on the Razor is just Charadon Granite through my airbrush. Same technique I used on WMs Razors, though with his I used Scorched brown.


Adepticon: One week and counting.

Ok, so! Devastator squads (as well as all the heads and pads Ill need) are complete. I just need to do the bases on the Tac squad and they'll be done as well! (Pics of them tomorrow) Details like squad markings, squigglies, and other details like shoulder pad markings will be done at a later date, as at the moment its all about completion to a playable level.

My camera didnt seem to want to cooperate today, so pics are a bit substandard.... I really gotta get an actual lightbox one of these days!
