Termies and MKIII are not exactly rare either though. It would be nice to see a super-ornate MKII but I suppose the idea is that the officers have the latest types of armour.
I am surprised there are no special helmet options for this set, they could have put a wreath or some such on an existing helmet and thrown it in, still a beautiful set.

Sorry, this is more of an in-joke between myself and Ehsteve. He's not a fan of Mk.IV, whereas FW is a big fan of Mk.IV (so much so that they went and made a whole new type of Termy armour that looks like Mk.IV), so I thought he'd appreciate that FW have made some nice new singular FW models that aren't just more Mk.IV.

Is the BFG stuff even the slightest bit different from last time around?
I know a guy who seems sure FW are buying the rights to BFG, I haven't heard or seen anything about it other than what he is saying so I don't believe it but I want to.

I don't have a copy of the old book to compare the rules against, but from first glance they look the same as the old .pdf Tau rules that GW released publicly.

How has the tetra changed in this version? Did they come up with a reason to take a manta? It always seemed incredibly overpriced and undergunned for the points.

Tetras are now 2-shots. And the manta? Looks the same to me still, flying one-vehicle army...

I disagree with the ongoing overly long wedding vow FW has made to MkIV by making the releases so very, very uneven. For every one or two releases for any other Mk of armour, there is one for MkIV. The amour itself does not lend itself to the kind of the exquisite detail we see on MkIII, MkV or even MkII. Look at the Legion Champion and Master of Signals compared to either of these two models, it even decidedly outdoes to Command Set. Again, this is just my opinion, but nonetheless there is a definite trend.

Still waiting for the day the move XV-9s to regular 40k Approved rather than Apoc.

Those models: totally sexy.

Do I have a use for them? Unfortunately not. We'll see with the next marine 'dex.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Both standard XV9s and the character XV9 always been 40k approved, since the day they were released.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Oh, before I forget, can Elysian squad sergeants in both regular infantry squads and veteran squads also use lasguns now instead of pistols? I do hope they finally fixed that, seeing as all squad sets come with sergeants with lasguns and no parts for pistols and swords..

Platoon Commanders and Infantry Sergeants can do so, but you have to pay the points cost for it as it comes with the Aux. GL - there's no way to get the lasgun alone. Veteran Sergeants and the Company Commander can't get a lasgun. XD It's ridiculous that they missed that for the Veteran Sergeant, but oh well.

Bah, still no regular lasguns then. fething idiots, great. So I got six squads of veterans with sergeants I can't use now because lasguns are not issued to sergeants all of the sudden and FW doesn't issue the bits or the arms for those load outs. The feth FW.

Hmm. I guess you could clip off laspistol holsters from other IG and stick 'em to their belts? I'm probably going to be doing conversions at the hand for mine, I haven't actually thought about it much yet.

It's just horribly idiotic and backward that sergeants MUST have a pistol and sword, which does not fit in with the style and fluff of the Elysians one bit.

Meanwhile the Death Korps can take rifles rather than pistols and close combat weapons. Cearly Elysian sergeants aren't badass enough to have rifles.

Then just model one without? I can't see anyone taking issue with it to be honest, and like you said it's not really in character for units such as the Elysians (who would almost certainly have some kind of bullpup-carbine, or even just a pistol). Jumping out of a plane with a sharp, long stabby thing (even sheathed) is not something anyone with any common sense would do, after all..

Strap it across the chest like a rifle carbine, or there is the other simple solution of a musette bag.

At the least, Elysians desperately need a version of this kit to make sergeants and officers. Unique looking officer models (rather than a single yelling head and powerfist part for a normal guy) and Commissars with grav chutes are also very high on the list of needed models.

Yes. I posted pics of the concept art for Elysians in carapace long ago, from the 2008 Gamesday US IIRC. It would be nice to see something come of them.

Those 4 were mine, taken off a rather crappy camera phone that I had at the time.

Someone (The Spring offensive) else got a much better pic of two of the pages in 2011:

Yeah, I was referring to those. I thought it would be a nice inside joke with other Elysian players, lol. I have an art book lying around that I think has them in it. I've been thinking hard about how to convert a squad of them.

Now there's an amusing thought, Krieg officers leading Elysians,

"But sir, it's a minefield, defended by tanks and machine gun emplacements," Elysian Trooper A

"The Emperor does not care for your excuses, fix bayonets!," Sergeant 297F-17/C

"But sir, we don't even have bayonets," Trooper A

Isn't elysians in carapace armour pretty much Harakoni Warhawks? It would be cool for FW to release some of them too though.

There's plenty of scope for fancier MKIV, we just haven't seen it. The Loken model is an example, though much more could be done. They could have done a fancier helmet rather than just add a crest too. We might see better more ornate examples as the series progresses.
MKIV is clean compared to II, III, and V which have lots of overlapping plates and rivets. Rather than detail, maybe you prefer the steampunk look of the other marks rather than the streamlined look of MKIV.
It would be nice to see more MKII, that seems to be the ugly child locked in the basement of armour marks, yet it should be as common as MKIV.

Can't really comment on Tau as they're, well they're xenos scum.

Harakoni Warhawks have different gear from Elysians. They're supplied by different Forge Worlds.
