How will the CYOA aspect function, I wonder? Merely allowing players to decide in which order they tackle quests, or possible NPC interaction in-game?

The only thing I've seen so far is it's 16 quests but you only do 10 to complete the expansion so you can vary you how you tackle it. Also mentioned that the heroes are not a dwarf and Barbarian as they currently exist but are adjacent rules wise so that you can have 2 dwarves in a party for example that play slightly differently to each other.

guessing a couple of "paths" that have different ways to complete a few of the quests.
its Heroquest, its not going to be complicated, will be a couple of points where you decide the left door or the right door, with maybe clues as to which path is beyond each then coming back together for the end.
either way its a nice addition and should make replayability better

I was maybe going to skip this (and Ogres), because I don’t think I’ll ever get round to actually playing them, but damn, they go and put a goblin with a boomerang in there! And a lot of other very cool models.
HeroQuest is rapidly becoming like my Steam library…

I'm in for this one.
It strikes me that the quality of the minis and scenery pieces is high enough that simply buying every Heroquest release could be like a periodic subscription service for anyone doing fantasy RPG or Indie-Skirmish wargaming.
There will be some duplicates, but even forgetting all the other stuff, each release is going to give you a bunch of minis and terrain pieces at around $1-1.50 Each.

That looks cool... There was some hope out in the interwebs that this one would include a new map, or at least part of one, to build on the jungle theme, and it's slightly disappointing that it doesn't appear to have at least a couple of jungley room cards, but the mini collection is very interesting.
Curious to see if the velociraptor-critter is a pet or a new beast mode.

The unboxing from UK games expo has new tiles not sure why they aren’t shown or listed in the preorder.

It's why I bought the core box. I'm not often in a fantasy mood, but when I am I like to have a variety of models to scratch that itch before I go back to something else. HeroQuest does a good job of it.

The little dino looked like a hero! Plus two new Barb hero models and two little guys as heroes/helpers!
Tempting. However, I need to get caught up painting what I have first.

sounds like the "animal companion" thing, can't hire them, can't recruit them as such, but they can take the place of a hero if the group is smaller than four
of if you feel generous for younger players let one be a 5th party member
nice bit of variation

That's neat, we've already done something similar to that as a house rule, we had my younger niece play along with a dog figure that gave bonuses to the heroes that it was adjacent to.

I don't know the source on this (it comes a youtuber that attended a conference) but it looks like First Light might be a stripped down starter set that can be integrated into the bigger set.

what would be interesting is that this would imply a smaller board, which could be something that works placed alongside the main board
however given Hasbro so far have firmly suck to (you only need this and the core set) for expansions it would be a bit of a departure to start including it
doesn't mean can't be done for home brew though

So some further rumours take with for now
- aiming for $50 price point
- alt sculpts for monsters but heroes are card standees (you need to upgrade to the big box to get plastic heroes and then you will have alt. Monsters as well)
- compatible with all previous releases
- new quests
No word on tiles/board or furniture which I’d assume would be card tokens.
If the heroes are card I wonder if that might lead to a separate hero release with 4 alt sculpts?
Existing players can use this like an expansion new quests new monster sculpts for the cost of a normal expansion.

would have thought more likely to have card for monsters (flat tokens) and the only plastic being alt heros
and some sort of thin card or folding paper version of the classic board, which is a pity
has been noted elsewhere the cover art looks unlikely, look at the elf and how shes ahh obviously female as an example

Not sure what you're referring to on the elf... the current game has both male and female characters.
I do wonder if it is AI generated, though, going by the misshapen hands and the way they're holding their shields.

look closely at the elf, its not that shes female thats what makes me think the artwork isn't real its the somewhat NSFW nature of part of the artwork
could be placeholder art of course, but I can't see Hasbro publishing a puppy nose cover art pic
