I saw them mentioned in a history of the Skaven and was honestly wondering if we might ever see a line of models for them? I’d guess not because that would be encroaching on Kharadron models a little bit

Yes. When GW decides that it'll make them enough $. If that encroaches upon the Khadadron? Then so be it.

I don't think we'll see sky-skaven.

If we do then I hope its a long way off as yet since the Skaven army in itself has a LOT of old sculpts that are in woeful need of updating to modern plastics and I'd rather see Skaven ahve a brilliant solid core than see them bloated.

I think that Skaven with skyships are an idea that's there to tempt people into buying khadorans and skaven and kit-bashing their own skaven skyfleet with "counts as" rules for either skaven or khadorans.

When you read the lore of most of GW's games you see a lot of factions swap things over; or steal things; or use things they shouldn't. Especially so in a setting like AoS which has far fewer political and religious barriers compared to something like 40K. Plus most of the underlaying technology in AoS is fairly similar in terms of how familiar races can be with it.

Honestly I kind of want to now, but that’d be quite a bit of money to sink into something that people might object to because it’s not officially sanctioned

Eh I can't see any problems really.

I'd convert them and run them as Khadorans because the ship hulls would be the biggest aspect and not "easily" made to work for pure-skaven armies. But you can still go to town putting lightning guns and stuff on them instead of the khadoran weapons. Then you're basically just running a Khadoran army with skaven models. Provided each different type is easily told apart and each looks a bit like the original you should be fine.

Of course any event or person could refuse you, but done right I'd wager you'd easily be well into the "so cool most would never refuse you".

Heck I've seen photos of the "My Little Pony" armies done for Warmachine (a game where competitive games are even tighter than 40K) and they've run in tournaments.

Oh yeah, I see it as inevitable. When? No idea. But it'll happen bar the apocalypse.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Yeah, I doubt models will be made, or even bespoke rules, they seem more like (really awesome) conversion fodder and inspiration for other kinds of things.

Surely the sky goblins and skaven are mostly an opportunity for creative modelling for counts as armies? Or a way to inspire cool scenarios and campaigns?
It is funny that the traditional enemies of underground Dwarves are still their enemies in the clouds. I would have thought High Elves would have been a stronger competitor with all their flying beasties.

while I would love sky skaven, I doubt it will happen
