Hey everyone,

I feel that a lot of players (sometimes even myself,) dig on the new primaris marines for essentially re-releasing old marine codex things with slight variations.

So, rather than complain about these things, I was thinking of instead giving some thought to those parts of "normal" marine kit that you would be excited to see revisited as a shiny new "primaris" version!

Me? Drop-pods. Oh god do I hate the look of those models. I know it's a silly complaint, and they have tactical use, but to me they just look dumb and after they do their one trick pony thing they pretty much sit there until someone can be bothered to kill them. I would like to see them re-imagined as some combination of the deathstorm drop-pod and the regular one. Something that has the flavor of the old ones, but maybe a tad more reason to be shelling out the time and money for purchase/assembly/painting ect.

So how about it? What is YOUR piece of marine kit you would like to see get the shiny new primaris treatment?

Well apparently we ARE getting big old gravis armored "sword and board" dudes, that's at least in the same ballpark eh?

They'll make good Sword Brethren.

I'd like to see something closer to Breacher Squads (bolter and shield troops), but I'd also be interested in a jump pack melee unit. But the Assault Intercessors are nice!

Deathwatch Veterans. With the new models, we have most of the basic 'roles' covered, but there is still that oldmarine style of every model having a unique loadout. Deathwatch Vets are the ultimate expression of that and I'd love to see a primaris version.

Fully kitted out deathwatch veterans as primaris would be crazy good!

Storm Raven equivalent. I always liked the idea of of a loaded up Raven dreadnought and all. So this thing must be able to carry a redemptor dread and 12 troops/6 gravis. Plus we need an alternative to the Repulsor to transport gravis

Options. I want any Primaris unit where I can choose what to do with them beyond "do you build version A or B? Or C if you're very lucky?"

Primaris Captain on bike is what I'm hoping for now.

Bikes and heavy weapon teams where what I really wanted, now that we have them, I want an HQ who can keep up!

40K Armies: Ultramarines, Tau, Ynnari, Orks, and Thousand Sons.

I like the idea of things that, like the current Primaris, will be similar, but not just a Primaris version of something we already have. In that light:

- More melee version of the Aggressor with a few weapon options. Probably let them take a stormshield or dual weapons, and give them a few weapon choices. Something anti horde, something anti vehicles, and something anti heavy infantry. Thunderhammer, chainaxe, and heavy chainsword could work. I would prefer that Primaris NOT get Terminators, but it would be nice to have something in a similar role as them.

- Suppressors but with closer ranged weapons. Maybe a flamer or anti horde weapon. So designed to drop in and move fast to hit things at close range.

- Melee Inceptors are likely to happen too, but I'm not crazy about them as I just don't like the Inceptor design.

- Some super heavy melee honor guard style unit with relic blades and stormshields (oh wait)

Always 1 on the crazed roll.

Assault Marines with Jump Packs. We're halfway there with Assault Intercessors, time will tell. Also, Primaris Dante needs to happen.

Impulsor-based combat vehicles(a-la pred, whirlwind, demo, etc)

"Man-portable" heavy weapons i.e. devestators(that aren't highly mobile with no way to mitigate move and fire penalties)

Fully heavy-ranged agressors(basically cent-devs)

Just unit designs that make sense for the rules.

I'm pretty happy with what is already available. The only thing would be some sort of jump pack melee unit, Assault Intercessors with jump packs or Inceptors with melee weapons would do it for me.

My predator has performed adequately well for me. It's not a Executioner, but it does do well enough to find a valid place in my lists. What I really want for my SW though is a squadron of Vindicators and a battery of Whirlwinds.

I'd argue that the executioner is basicly the primaris predator.

but yeah a whirlwind equivilant would be nice. heck could even take it and the vindy and combine it into a single mobile artillery piece.

I'll be honest, I always found the idea of Space Marines with artillery a bit weird. Legions? That makes sense, but Chapters? I've always been of the opinion that indirect artillery shouldn't really be a Marine staple, and instead should have more along the lines of direct fire weaponry like Vindicators, Predators, and Land Raiders (I'd retool the TFC to be a direct fire weapon, if it isn't already).

Of course, that's just my take, and I do have a Whirlwind, if just for completionism.

If they move all the old-Marines to 30k the Primaris won't have "replaced" Space Marines.

The fact that they're so mobile and also can't be shut down with consolidation moves is the best thing the Omnis pattern armor has going for it. I'd love to be able to buy more Suppressors without having to buy the Phobos started to get them, I suspect the reason we haven't seen it is that GW is having as hard a time as I am coming up with another long-range weapon option for the multi-kit that would compete with the Accelerator Autocannon. It's such a well balanced weapon.

I think it would be pretty awesome to see Chaos get it's own unique version of the Primaris line actually... but as of right now I'm pretty sure that's just not the priority for GW.

(I've heard others talk about a version of the "greater possessed" to counter the Primaris)
