They use lower tier paint jobs so it seems more realistically reachable for novice painters. Guess you'll have to try it out when you paint them up.

It takes away from how potentially good something is imo, if the paint doesn't draw me into a model then I tend to skim it over and not bother, or at least they can include an unpainted version next to it. these aren't kids toys they are gaming and modeling pieces for mature collectors!

They aren't targeted at the painters/collectors. They are for people to buy lots of, slap some paint on, and play some games.

But it's Necromunda! the new guys who will buy and slap paint probably have only heard about it in myth and legend or vaguely when shadow war was released! I really thought they might at least leave some grim darkness for some of us instead of the Saturday morning cartoon style they seem to be deciding is good :-( and these paint don't inspire me except to do better than!

I think it's something unique to the Forge World/Specialist Games department, you can see the same on some of the FW Blood Bowl bits. It's an interesting style, I quite like the almost impressionist look and it probably requires a fair bit of artistic flair to pull off (definitely seems more complex than it looks at first glance), but it really doesn't show off the models all that well. It'd be fine as a display piece, but to have it as the standard marketing pics would be like showing off new Space Marines but with all the metals in Sky-Earth NMM, it's technically impressive but so far removed from what 99% of painters will be doing with their minis that it's not the best way to advertise.

Actually, looking again, something really weird is going on. The style is consistent, but there's a massive difference in terms of quality between the autogun Escher (pretty basic) and the pistol one (much better technically speaking, leaving the style aside)... Odd! Still, can't wait to see what you do with them, I look forward to... ahem.... drawing inspiration from them...

Back to your own work though, I really like what you've done with those ships. I'm getting a real Mass Effect/Halo hard sci-fi vibe from them which is great.

Just too much to comment on... yet all spectacular. I just love the shore-line board. That's a Golden Demon right there!

Nurgle board looks ace!

Love the waves coming in, and how it transitions to the green sludge, so good.

Minotaurs board looks cool too, reminds me of a Samurai temple or something along those lines.

I literally started this yesterday after work, just thought i'd throw a wash or two on and I ended up getting it ready to use the silver on so today I just whacked on the silver scratches and it already is shaping up to look decent! which means I should be able to do other vehicles nice and fast! might end up getting some more and really going vehicle heavy with predators and land raiders which is in the fluff of the Minotaurs

I think the 'clean weathering' looks decent on the tank lots of small scratching as if it's in a warzone, should I add some red dust to the tracks to mimic the bases on the troops?

That looks spot on bud, nice and quick too, and yes to the red dust, just to tie things together.

Agreed on red dust, but it should be the last thing you do after any markings on the tank. I feel like the red panels could use some weathering too. They are pristine while the rest is battered.

Thanks guys, I'll add some dust later on then :-) I'll have to paint the reds before I weather up but they will get a little to tie it in with the hull,

I still like the colour, it's kinda a metallic brown rather than a true bronze but it still appeals to me when painting which is good considering it's my army! :-) and once I darken the recesses and paint the spot colours it'll look grand! speaking of colours, the skull and eagle on the front, what colour should they be? gold or bone?

I vote bone, gold will be too similar to the main armour colour IMO

I vote bone as well. Agreed gold will blend in too much.

I don't really understand the dread question. It's huge compared to the normal washing machine.

I only know one person who has that dread, and it was given to him free by GW because he's a big podcaster. Sorry, Primaris performance is pretty lack-luster so you don't see a lot of them around.

I have one. Though I haven't assembled it yet. It appears to be a Dread in a Dread. A bit better stats, but expensive pt wise.

Hey guys here's a Leman Russ i've done to the same style as the other models I did for the client earlier in the year nice sculpt but would be easier when he's not totally glued together, hard to see his face though since his pose is pretty hunched over which makes it hard to select a focal point for him but I think his armour gives him enough Ooomph to look good

Supernice Minotaurs. I never thought I'd actually like the new colour scheme, but your made them actually look pretty. And those scenic elements are great looking. Even some fancy waterfall work there.

What would you do different on Russ if he didn't have to match?

Minos looking good. You have other stuff planned for them yet?

Those dropfleet ships are gorgeous, makes me want to get more!

My only critique is that Russ is too clean-shaven. Not very Viking like in my book. He should have a 5-o-clock shadow of some sort.

Russ' armor is gorgeous, and the glow on the tip of his sword makes me think of ice, which fits their wolf concept. If I were a dog I'd be humping his leg for sure

Firstly i'd like to welcome Sigur back to the fold glad to finally see you on here again!

and everyone else, thanks as always, Russ I agree would benefit from a better beardy face or stubble but it was all glued together so I didn't have as much freedom as i'd liked with him. If I were to do him again i'd still follow a similar scheme but give his armour a more 'paint over metal' look and really bring the details up by doing more on his belt, cloak banding on the armour. This version is a table top sort of level so he looks good but the small stuff doesn't get as much love

I'm still working on my Mino's Predator and assembling Gits Crawlers so I can get into them soon.

so not much to show at the moment but gimme a week and i'll give you an update!
