I was just commenting that I like to paint things as they are fresh off the showroom floor before I weather it down. If I do weathering out of sequence, I always forget something. It's just more or less my process.

Yeah I get it. You work the way I do for my tanks, show room quality finish, then add the scratches, dings, dust and mud etc.

For my Orks though I go all sorts of haphazard, willy-nilly and chaotic as if I were an actual Ork slapping the stuff together and then slopping the paint unevenly all ofer it!

Well, aside from the badly applied red paint job my oprks will give my finished bommer, it will also get a "Lucky bloo" racing stripe! as all my red painted vehicles get.

This bommer is looking really good Dave!

what additional color do you want to include to that scheme by the way? i like the idea of adding blue into the mix... heck why not do something to get a twisted version of a stars and stripes on that bird? or try a lil freehand and do the ork cheerleader as a sort of freak pinup

Thanks Man!- My GF suprised me yesterday and ordered 2 more kits for me! - Now I will have a WING of them to harrass my Marauder Destroyer, which means I will need a couple of FW Thunderbolts to fly escort - This will turn into a huge Imperial Vs. Orks Cold War!

Same here. Of course w/ my Nurgle stuff I use GS etc, but the first paint job is "straight from the shop" and then I proceed to mess it up from there.

Yep Skalk...That is really the proper way to do it, at least in every modeling book I have read.

I don't think my readers realize that the base paintjob isn't done yet. Even Orky aircraft would have to be somewhat maintained to be able to keep flying.

There isnt any other way to weather is there?

Surely painting a panel fully, then weathering then moving on would just lead to disparity?

Depends on the look. Sometimes, for Orks, that works very well. It also works for "scavenged vehicles" made out of a bit of this and a part from that.

True, but aircraft weather completely differently than ground vehicles do.
