Yeah working on it.. most sales are going to people that know how to use pigments already, and with Forge World bringing out their own pigments and the "how to paint citadel tanks" book, I don't think that will be much of a problem. I haven't gone on my full advertising campaign and testers are still working with my stuff and taking pictures.
Gonna see if the site will let me add a youtube video to the page
hey lbursley will you be doing a video on the forge world powders and using them cause im really interested in them (and yours of course would've loved to test those, lol)
Yeah eventually I'll do more pigment tutorials. I'll let GW push the FW pigments and get people familiar with them. As far as buying FW ones. No, that would be like vallejo buying GW paint for a tutorial.. I have my own products to push now.
If you are interested just buy the GW book and you can learn the techniques. Or search youtube for a guy named scalemodelmedic and he will show ways to use pigments.
Very nice marines! Great work on that strong green it really is impressive.
As for FW pigments I have heard that they are Vallejo pigments repacked. OR rather they come from the same supplier Vallejo uses, a French company that produces scatter and ground powders for model train scenery.
Theres a very interesting pigment comparison article on the Mig website that looks at Mig and Vallejo. OF course its biased from Mig's point of view, however I did find the comparison photos interesting.
Cool! I'm gonna check that out! I know my pigments are of same quality because I also have MIG pigments and compared mine to theirs. But I produce mine because us here in the US get hit pretty hard with the exchange rate for MIG PIGs.
Its on the front page of their website, in a banner.
Actually it took some flak on their forum from scale modellers who felt it was unnecessary and negative advertising.
Given their reputation and niche market though it's easy to understand why they are trying to maintain their position as a prestige quality product. Although a little competition can only be good for the modeller/consumer at the end of the day.
i can imagine that your hit pretty hard for mig pigments since i think they're like £3.60 over here in the uk which is why im interested in getting some good quality/low cost/nice range of powders
Actually Pastel color is pigment and gum medium compressed into stick form. I make my own also
The powders are available now but I'll warn you now that shipping overseas is about $12 USD. To find my products just click on my sig and it will take you to my site.
-Also just finished editing/rendering the second part of the White Scars tutorial. Here's the finished mini.
lol, I thought you were going a little crazy with the weathering stick for a minute, but it actually looks really good. Way better than plain white, anyway.
I need to buy one of those weathering sets, but I'm not sure how much use I'll get out of the oil color on my Tau. The set with the black soot however, I could probably use that.

If so I'd be in.
hes done weathering pigments and washes so far. click his sig!
my friend I have clicked his sig enough times to get carpel tunnel syndrome . I was mainly curious because I'm currently using VGC paints and if he has an even more improved product I'd be very excited.
Great job on that white scar mate and a really nice and slickly produced tutorial too. It's always great to see talented guys like yourself taking advantage of new (comparitively) media to provide hobby tutorials, tips and advice.
Keep up the great work, will talk soon about the bases .
That Chaos Terminator Lord is one of the most genuinely imposing models I've ever seen; Chaos often becomes comically grotesque but instead you've made him look truly twisted and hateful. Well done.
With the new paint challenge underway I figured I'd work on my Black Templars Land Raider (yes I traded my eldar for space marines ). I picture them as a convoy and very filthy as they are always chasing and fighting with no time to polish their armor. So my army will be the same. I spent some time reading tutorials and watching videos on how to make the items I wanted on the LR as I picture it in my head. Lots of extra gear strapped in including fuel, ammo boxes, tow cables etc. And I have all the mould making stuff on the way for things I want to duplicate that I don't think I can sculpt exactly the same again. With BT being basically fanatics I sculpted scrolls and seals to go on the tank and I love how they look considering it's the first time I had tride to sculpt them. I'm also trying to add little details to the model trying to keep scale modeling in mind. Rails and hand hold with little details here and there.
Here's some progress.
I can't enter the competition so I figure people can look and take something away from it.
I reccomend making the tarp over the equipment more textured, or atleast have a few rips here and there.. it just doesnt look right too me (maybe some rope to tie it down aswell, just looks like it has been thrown on. (google canvas for ideas maybe).
Hopefully you can find a project you can stick on because your getting me wraped up for the elder then changing so suddenly, but trial and error i suppose..
the tank does look good though, how did you get the white spray job so smooth, my GW spray its too wattery (pools up, if that makes more sense...)
The tarp....... IS sitting on there lol. It was a test sculpt, and I plan on the final to be textured and I'm working on making the folds look a bit more natural instead of shrink wrapped.
Primer- Was still wet when I took the pictures. It's also 65 F in my garage so the primer has plenty of time to settle before drying.
Les, you might think to use a textured paper instead for your tarp if you can't quite get the putty to work out. A little bit of water and glue and it folds easily and naturally around anything you want. A lot less hassle for my money ^_-.
definately love seeing the new stuff up. The white scar I think is one of your best works yet.
Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!
