I missed a lot of this thread, but just updated the Rumor Tracking. I'm amazed at how many people pegged March for IG.

The truck says "Militarum Tempestus Taurox Prime/Astra Militarum Taurox". It is two distinct vehicles, not necessarily "separate from the Guard". Look at how the Valkyrie is considered, it's an Imperial Navy vehicle operated by Navy personnel and distinctively a "Navy" bit...but then its pilots report to the Guard officers in command of the regiment and the Valkyrie is painted in the regimental livery.

Ogres having huge slabs of metal as shields does not equate to "riot shields" or "Arbites" though.

"Cold hearted killers....operate outside..." of the guard?

It might be a freelance ally force....

Or it could be a revamp of the current Stormtrooper fluff?

Read the current fluff on them. Stormtroopers are "ruthless, proficient killers" who essentially are an outside force, part of the Imperial Guard but not. They answer to the Guard command planetside but are not part of the regiment that they might be fighting with.

I wouldn't give to much credit for the pic with a valk in background. These minis might be used for Inquisitor forces, guard, on their own, who knows. For all we know, looking at the pic of them fighting tyranids, they could be part of an Inquisitor force.... I just can not fathom GW making a separate codex for guard usable only stormtroopers, and maybe an extra entry or two. There MUST be more to that codex, it is obvious Guard Codex & this other codex are two distinct creatures. (IMHO). If GW were doing codexes, per entry (HQ, Troops, Elites, etc...) that would be ridiculous. My money is on this codex to cover scions, the fugly van, and maybe the ogres (with shields?), and maybe some copy & pate for other vehicles that will also be seen in guard codex, and maybe some Inquisitor options, or even a way to do an arbites force... I would HOPE GW had to common sense to do that.... I just realized what I said there.

Somewhat tempted to look into a renegade (not Traitor!) Guard using some of the third party infantry figures to avoid paying the GW tax. That would be interesting

Considering how they released a codex that has 2 options (which is really just the same model with different loadouts), warlord traits and a random table for "variety"...yeah, I hate to be negative about these sort of things, but it isn't looking good.

I don't like the tank at all. Swing and a miss. The 4 tracks are just...lame.

The troops look cool, but I would model them without the berets if I were to do an IG army.

To be frank, were I to do IG, I'd do the cold-weather Cadians from Forgeworld.

But, these are still cool and very well done troops IMHO.

I think it's a bit early to pass judgement on the tank since we've really only seen one angle and have no idea about alternate loadouts, etc.

If you can swap out the 4 tank tracks for something that looks cool, then I'll retract my statement. I don't care about what guns it can take. It just looks lame, IMHO.

The troops are cool, though. I like them more and more, the more I look at them.

I can assure you that this is NOT Latin. Wrong words, wrong grammar.

Kasrkin are still on the GW US website. They're available in the 10 man box(which includes the Sergeant, Flamer, and GL models) and a blister with Melta/Plasma Guns. They are listed as "Shipping within 24 hours".

You are aware that GW is discontinuing all metal, right?
And that it plans to reboot the GW webstore the same month that this Codex arrives, right?
So chances are that all those listed will indeed go OOP when the new models arrive ... or shortly after that.
pretre wrote:I missed a lot of this thread, but just updated the Rumor Tracking. I'm amazed at how many people pegged March for IG.

Not many people thought that you could fill a month with just two plastic kits ... and that you could write a hardcover Codex for just one of them
pretre wrote:I think it's a bit early to pass judgement on the tank since we've really only seen one angle and have no idea about alternate loadouts, etc.

Well, even from that one angle it is obvious that the turret is crushing the driver and blocking the exit and that the motor exhausts are fed into the driver cabin.
And that it looks like the TMNT truck on stilts

you're going to have to start asking for a week not a month for rumour mongers now it's weekly releases that might straddle a month

Hmm. I must admit I really like the Storm Troopers, but not nearly enough to buy them at this price considering I already own quite a lot of Kasrkin and "counts-as" troopers from other manufacturers.

That armoured car though... *sigh*. GW's design philosophy for their vehicle kits was always questionable, but oh boy, ever since the Stormraven (I think that was the name... I'm thinking of the Marines' flying toaster) it's steadily gone downhill IMO. Why do they keep playing around with the aesthetics of long-established factions?

I've seen a couple of people on this thread saying that they are going to use the FW Tauros instead of the fuggly truck - don't know how this will work as the Tauros is a tiny buggy & wouldn't even fit 1 Ogryn in it let alone 10. Confused.com.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

The Ogryns will carry the Tauros, thus giving it improved difficult terrain capabilities.

Though kudos to anyone who does actually create a conversion of this.

Therefore, by using simple math, we can assume that the ogryn increase the maneuverability of the tauros rough terrain even further.

I am confused. Is this a new IG Codex or a funny little varient thingy. Is it online only?

IG is the one arm that may get me back into 40k - or at least paint 40k stuff again. I keep hoping for some Tallarns or Valhallans and actually like the rambos.

but that vehicle. That is just ..... bad.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

What new version? It was a new kit for the same vehicle, with the same technical and aesthetic flaws as the previous kit.
