Seems kind of rubbish?

I guess there's some possibility of castling up on an objective to spread the buff. But otherwise what? You are giving reroll 1s to wound to 1-2 units you have on a given objective - or when shooting 1-2 enemy units on a given objective.

From the company that thinks Eldar having a reroll to hit and wound on every unit is reasonable?

The Lieutenant with Combi-Weapon has something similar, and he's a top pick for SM characters rn.

It came from the interrogation of Astelan in one of the codexes.

...Is it safe?

I think this is a change for the better, and expands on the lore in a really interesting way.

Somewhat interesting rules on the Votann. Hopefully they are around 9 points each. I am wondering what the point of a Theyn is though, as he has the same stats and weapons as the rest of his squad.

I'm hoping that once these guys and the squad of jumppack guys come out that I can build a 2000 point horde army with 130 infantry and 3 Sagitaurs.

Like Student said, you pay for the squad as a whole.

Bringers of Flame is good for SM, and it'll probably be even better in an army that spams flamers and meltas.

Looking forward to the dataslate.

In theory I'm fine with DW being changed, or "tweaked" a bit here or there. I just ask for a few little things.

1. The obvious one everyone wants, points balance internally and externally.

2. Keep the special units/wargear. I still want to see the Corvus Blackstar, Watchmaster, and Frag Cannons.

3. Custodes are the exception to the "no Heresy Crossover" rule. Can you give DW a bit of leeway on the "no model, no rules" part? DW have a noted history of truly diverse weapons loadouts. I'm not saying it needs to be anything-goes, but just relax a bit? Bring back special weapons (melta, plasma, flamer, etc.). I'm not saying it has to be available to EVERY member of a squad, but 2-3 would be nice.

4. Keep squads with 4 frag cannons legal, even if they have to make a Devastator equivalent unit for it.

I quite like the DW, though I'm not inclined to collect an army of them. And I agree with you that the special units/wargear give them personality. I personally think we won't see a huge amount of change to their datasheets, though I could be wrong.

Why did they feel the need to overly differentiate that human-worn power armor from the transhuman stuff?

It all looks pretty good and characterful.

Lemartes being upgraded to Primaris is just further proof that GW couldn't care less about any actual narrative.

I agree. Why would they do that to a Death Company member? Even if Lemartes has held on this long, it is unlikely he will hold out forever.

'Let's perform this supposedly extremely dangerous surgery on a guy who we have to keep in stasis because he's so unstable!'

What?

Lemartes is lucid.

My view of the old (3rd ed?) Lemartes model does sort of speak to how nostalgia works.

Its not a good model to be sure. But it has a certain amount of character to its ugliness. (Although I've never been one to care for realistic dimensions in my miniatures.) By contrast the new Coteaz is also a bad model - but it just feels like a plastic characterless imposition.

The new model is okay. Marines do Marine things and not much for me. Then again maybe I should bring my Lamenters up to 1000 points...

I do agree old metal has a certain character. I study the 'old masters' of 3rd and 4th edition fairly often to inspire my own works. That said, as a 20-something Marine fan who started properly in 8th after being engaged with the art and marketing lore over my teenage years, I certainly enjoy the new Marines. While Coteaz feels characterless, I feel they've hit it out of the park with new Marines since the fumbling baby steps of 8th.

Watching it again, I really want to see what that massive pair of cannons are for.

The marketing copy articles beforehand mentioned some sort of superweapon, so perhaps it's that?

I honestly don't know what the veteran level units really add though. The game isn't in a state to support flexible loadouts, so the trueborn/brides/thingumy units would basically be just.... kabalites/wyches/wracks with an extra attack/wound maybe.

I promise you, the game is not going to explode if you give things weapons options.

Correct me if I'm wrong, your IG army is now either Cadian, Catachan, or Krieg?

If you play something else (say Vostroyan), who have to decide which of those armies fits your force the best?

You.

I hate to be a negative Nancy, but if there is any truth at all to how the model was acquired, then there is a slim chance it might never be a production model.

There isn't. Dante was acquired from "a car boot sale", too.

Sad, I had hoped trolls who suggest eliminating other people's favourite armies would find new games to play and new forums to post in.

"Penitent" Jake, whose favourite armies are the bondage elves and the BDSM nuns, has weighed in.

edit: forgot your bronze medalists, the forced impregnation aliens wearing human skin

I thought there was a standard of civility we had to hew to here on Dakka. This post doesn't seem to.

Give the “new Primaris lieutenant” shtick a rest. It should have died with the Eldar refresh, to be honest. Everyone will get their time in the sun.

Some people need to remember it’s just toy soldiers.

8th was seven years ago, and Marneus has traditionally had the ability to take either power armour or terminator armour. I don't see a problem with more options. I thought that was what your crowd wanted.

The Iron Hands are also some of the most brutal, bloody-minded and cold-hearted Astartes. Only the soul cradles vengeance purely, or something like that. The kanabo is perfectly on brand for me.

Who says it's warp magic? The Wolf Priests are masters of medical science, kind of necessarily. They reconstructed Kaspar Hawser in 30k; who says they can't still?

I cant believe people still fall for this crap. Its marketing/manufactured demand. They get people worked up about something (ie how dare they take our Steel Legion away), suddenly a bunch of people who had no opinion over it become passionate on the topic, then a couple years later surprise heres the thing you all want.

Now instead of selling steel legion minis to all 5 people that care enough to buy them on release day, theres thousands frothing at the mouth for them because it was taken from them before and they are going to make sure they dont miss out on them this time lest they be taken away again.

This, put plainly, is a conspiracy theory.

Additionally, there were a number of kitbashes shown off in the 2nd Codex and related WDs — pretty sure WD 200 has a showdown diorama between a Dragon Knight and Chaplain on bike.
