I agree. Why would they do that to a Death Company member? Even if Lemartes has held on this long, it is unlikely he will hold out forever.

more likely: "lets perform dangerous surgery on the guy we keep in stasis because of instability. maybe it'll actually fix the instability!"
after all, early on Cawl was claiming that his Primaris process was flaw free, and since none of the primaris had experienced the red thirst, it might have looked like upgrading the death company to primaris might be a cure, or at least a way to limit the effects. didn't work out that way of course, in the long run.

Actually, I think they did upscale Lemartes but not to primaris scale. Without those stairs he seems to be bit shorter.

Are First Born unable to wear MkX armor?
Is that in the fluff?

Indeed, nothing has been said that only Primaris could wear Mk. X or that they can't use older patterns.

Kind of?
Mk X is of course inherently modular. Whether Phobos, Eh or Gravis, it’s the same underlying structure. And yes it was designed with Primaris Astartes in mind, who tend to be larger.
But that doesn’t mean it can’t be made for a Firstborn’s stature. Especially as the STC or plan or whatever have been widely disseminated.

Well that was the teory in early 8th edition, but apparently is was wishfull thinking.
Anyway, death company is not the effect of the red thirst, DC suffer epic scale collective PTSD of their primarchs death (well, as far as I remember, I have not payed attention to BA since my fling with them in 5th/6th edition).

... Anyway all I am saying is that Lemartes seems to be bit shorter then regular Primaris/Death Company Marine if you try to compare with and without bases decorative stairs.
When there is better pictures to compare heights then this clears up.

Design team said to make him bigger, but the sculptor had Coteaz files up and just kept adding bulk, and the boss kept saying "hey noob, make him bigger I said!". And there we are now.

Hard to tell without a picture from a different angle. He seems to almost be doing a lunge, his front knee bent and his back leg trailing behind him. If so, he may only appear to have short legs because neither are anywhere close to being upright.

Maddening Mutant Boss of Chaos

Considering that the Primaris are almost certainly all started from the same digital 'buck' of the Mark X armor, I am quite confident any perceived difference in proportions are a result of the pose and not the actual sculpt.

I know it’s very unlikely, but if they did release new sanguinary guard, I’d love if they were a dual kit with the Erelim. They both have winged jump packs, the only real difference would be the the torso and helmets. And weapon options I guess

Astorath get a free pass, as that’s basically just a modernization of his classic sculpt. Which is almost always a good thing.
(We could have had primaris wind tunnel Lemartes)
Honestly better Primaris sculpts like Lemartes are more annoying to me than the usual fare because at first what jumps out are the cool new details, and then my brain steps back and takes in the model as a whole and yep, it's still a Primaris. Hopefully the various STL makers are quick to rip off the new detailing for a proper Marine sculpt.

if the only thing that annoys you about it is the fact that it is labeled as primaris, and if you like the model, then what is the issue at that point?
