Just pre-ordered the Lieutenant and Librarian via Forbidden Planet. Just wish I'd known what was in 11&12 so I could've figured out if there was something else to bundle in.

Steps in

As printed on the back of the magazines

CONQUEST IS
PUBLISHED WEEKLY
UK: £7.99
AU$: 19.99 Inc. GST
NZ$ :19.99 Inc. GST

And for what it is worth the barcode is 9772516039027 (on issues 3, 4 & 5) which is suffixed with a smaller separate issue barcode 03, 04, 05 etc. The magazine equivalent of ISBN I think?

Promotional issue 1 in the UK was 9772516039003 with 01
Promotional issue 2 in the UK was 9772516039010 with 02

Edit note: At some point in the Grim Dark future this info will help a collector

The huge promotional cardboard fitted to the back of the earlier issues is UK specific. I would speculate that when Conquest makes it over to Australia and New Zealand you'll either have your own version of the card backing or a price sticker over the £1.99 first issue and £4.99 second issue. What those early issue prices will be is anyone's guess. Someone with local knowledge care to chip in?

Have the new issues with the lieutenant calsius sold out in shops? Seeing them on ebay for upwards of £20. Wondering if its worth selling mine when it arrives.

Also, I thought it was going subscription only from this point? If I cancel my sub can I buy single issues in the future?

Some stores will still be carrying it but from issue 5 there is no sale or return if they don't sell the stock they are stuck with it. I think issue 5s popularity might mislead some retailers with 6 being repeat EtB Plague marines and 7 being 2 shade paints with only a small saving I think there will be a drop in sales until the Librarian.

You can order individual issues direct (UK only) but you have to factor in the £1.99 shipping. Issue 5 is still available

The eBay market has actually slowed down once the issue hit the shops. The figures were going for £35-40, looks like you can easily pay around £15-20 now, but as posted above you can currently get it from Hatchette direct for £10. No idea how long it will remain in stock though as issues 1-4 are currently "out of stock" on their site.

Personally if you are not interested in the figure I would sit on it and wait, currently the auction market is saturated, there is a chance that people can get the figure at retail and it is available online. That will not be the case in a few months time.

My one of my two localish WH Smiths had a bunch of them on Thursday, the other had run out so it seems to be very hit and miss

Hachette had (don't know if it's still true) limited issue 5 to 1 per customer so hopefully it will be around for a while for those who want it for themselves rather than re-sale

Yeah.. I have the sub already. Was planning on cancelling after this one. Will probably still do that if I can do single orders in future, as I'm not interested in the bulk stuff really. I'll probably keep calsius and convert/paint him for GD or something.

Heading there tomorrow, although probably check WHS in Gravesend or my local McColls first, but thanks for the headsup.

Given the sales, I suspect WHS will be stocking these for a while longer, similar to the Assassins Creed partworks which they still stock, albeit in small, single digit volumes.

I don't mind this, I just figured they would use the plague brethren rather than a second easy build. I now have 4* easy build DG, one stock, one modified with DG parts and the two from this magazine still on sprue.

It's likely that when the stuff was initially allocated for this promotional dealio the Plague Brethren were still being considered a "limited edition" thing. It's only been relatively recent that they've become effectively an "online exclusive" item instead.

Picked the last issue 5 up in Bridport WHS yesterday. I'm not sure what I'll do with the figure, so I'm leaving it unopened until I have looked at my subscription one when it comes (sub'ed 3 weeks ago, issue 4 onwards, so hopefully due soon). I know he won't be a smurf.

Still, next four are pretty decent. Issue 7 with just two pots of wash is probably the first where its cheaper to buy separately. But with the Primaris Libby the week after (an eye watering £22.50 retail, fact fans!) and the Blighthauler soon after that (£15.00), it's hard to feel ripped off there

And for clarity....more recent issues are showing a price in AUD and NZD. Sadly I can't rattle them off the top of my head, but I'll make a point of sharing that when I get in. Unless someone else can step in with that info of course.

That of course indicates an antipodean release (as Hachette did with Dredd), and I can see that being very popular. Provided you don't mind Nurgle or Primaris.

Wasjust rereading the thread and this stopped me.
A) but less important, issue 7 is big pots so aren’t they more than £4 each?
B) my reason for posting. Where did you get the blight hauler coming after from? I thought we only know 7&8 as they’re in the back of 6. No one has 7 yet to see what’s in 9?

My Forbidden Planet issue 5 order arrived yesterday, so they have had at least some stock. For all the debate about Primaris, I really like this model; it’s a characterful pose that is not easy to replicate through kit bashing, etc.

My personal view is that if someone buys into a part works for a purely short term gain, there may be disappointment.

For me, it's all about the long haul. At the end of 80 weeks, I will have two armies built up slowly rather than having a mass of plastic in one go.

As for as repeat of the easy build Plague Marines so early, I have a couple of choices. Hack them up with other bits to add some variety to the ones I already have OR build as per the instructions but paint in one of the different colour schemes for Plague Marines in the accompanying magazine.

I picked up a couple copies of Issue 1 and the Reivers issue and by mixing the models up with bits bought from eBay, I've created enough variety to distract from the same three torsos being repeated. Then again, as a 2nd Ed metal IG collector, I'm used to repetition.

I guess the doubles show up early to space out the unique stuff (same with the paint). If you shoved all of the special stuff up front I imagine you'd get a lot of people cancelling their subscription halfway through, having got the bits they wanted.

Yeah it’s not for quick winners of good stuff as it were (though they’ll still be able to just buy single issues to gain).

I’m guessing I’ll go with a little converting and such for the three sprues of Plague Marines (as I already had it once :( ) and same for the Pox repeats (again I already had that sprue)..

I'm a little stumped with the Poxwalkers. As they're very individually posed, arm swaps and so on look a little difficult. I suppose the comedy sized mallet could be swapped with the spiked club and so on. At least the easy build Marines come with arms separate from the torsos.

Yeah, I bought some PW from someone way back, and got the 20 from DI and 6 ETB. Then I was getting four more so looked through them all as to which would be easy to convert as I dislike doubles, I had a list of what to do to most and how easy it would be somewhere. The doctor coat guy was most difficult I believe..

I guess want to build up the forces a bit first before getting to it.
I’d say the 11-14 set for starting subscribers would have a sprue, containers first, Delivery 4, it’s enough in that people would need some.

Terrain. Paint. DG character. And Primaris unit.
That’s my guess, the paint could come combined but I think from now on it will be 3 paints alone in an issue rather than mixed with models.

I think I counted about 23 and 25 issues worth of sprues for the armies, 15-20 for the scenery, then it leaves some for a bundle of paints.
That’s if they really spread things out in the way I was thinking when I looked.

they wont put the terrain in until later. someone totally new to the game would still be getting used to the basics using the 2D boards.

I cancelled my sub today. dont need issues with pots of wash or any more of the regular troops/vehicles etc. Just going to keep an eye out for any decent character issues and buy them individually. got a pre order in for issue 8 for the librarian.
