Nice! Good and dirty, definitely looks the business. Impressive dingy yellow and metal, I likes. I didn't even catch the little snots and grots when it was WIP

ROIGHT! Stompa is done, I've had enough of it and it can stay as it is. I reckon it's come out well. It'll go on the auction block soon enough as well... Funny these days how I go through all that work and then just feel like selling it afterwards... Weird. It's not like that's the reason I start it!

Anyway, enough blather, here's the pics:

Well, I haven't been doing nothing, I've been pretty busy so I've got some pics and links anyway. Here are some links to the CMoN sites for Da Klaw and for the Squighound Stompa:

Wardiggas?! WAAAAGH!!

And the stompa is tight! I think you got the proportions just right on the saw arm.

I'm pretty excited to see how Da Klaw turned out while I've been away, too - looks awesome, man!

It's official Lem, I love your work. Those Diggas look incredible! I think we were spawned from the same spores, I've been drawing up some buggies and skorchas in small go-kart and front-loading digger style. You beat me to fabrication and I definitely plan to do a little R&D on those pics. And by R&D I of course mean research and development, or rip-off and duplication.

Are those wheels lego? Or just bits from other model kits? The proportions are perfect.

In that vein, I've recently been toying with making a dread like your Diggy-Stompy-Fing, very similar to that concept art you've posted but a good bit smaller. I've got several drawings done, but with your blessing I'll get to cutting plastic! I'm tempted to name it "Lemmy" and pay homage to the idea's father, and snag a little Motorhead reference at the same time...

Well I've been doing a little here and there - had a tournament with the Iron Warriors on the weekend and that kept me busy for the past few weeks making sure that everything was set for us to go to it.

Anyways, heres a couple of little bits and pieces that I have done in the meantime, just some meddling with stuff and things while I get everything else done. Army painting will be starting soon as well, hopefully next week.

Pics for your enjoyment:

The short wheelbase trukk (to be used as a warbuggy with TL Rokkit Launchas). If I get another to convert like this I'll build a gun platform on the back instead of mounting it where I have on this one.

The real benefit I've had here is that since I have two trukks, I can swap the wheels around, so I could balance them out a bit. Of course orks don't care for such hoo har but I did it anyways.

And Da Klaw of Gork and the Squighound Pattern Stompa are up on the auction block so if any of you keen punters wanna try getting them, you know where they are

Im totally in awe! Not only beautifull scratch building but that stompas paintjob is sweet! Totally wow. How do you do that rusty metal and scratched paint???

Made in au
Regular Dakkanaut

The rusted metal is a lot of work, basically silver with stacks upon stacks upon stacks of colour washes to dirty the hell out of it. Browns and blacks and some other funky colours thrown into the mix.

Just so you all know, I'm still working on this. Things are still setting down since I"ve been sick, but at the moment I'm in the process of batch painting a total of 35 orks at once. Really pushing that but I'm finding it not too bad. I also have a dipping method worked out that I will try on the rank and file of the troops. If you saw how many troops I have to paint you'd probably think I was insane!!!!

Anyways, back to work for this paintslave!!!!

Well - not really an update just a moment of insanity realised so I thought I would share it with everyone ... if you're interested ... otherwise - here is some mindless drivel from one driven insane by the sheer weight of a task taken on by myself...too many elipsesisesisi.......

Just did a count of the ork army to date and boy oh boy oh boy have I ever bitten a big chunk off!!!

Here's the list of what I have yet to paint:

35 Boyz in progress
101 Boyz (all a mix of 'ard boyz, shoota boyz and slugga boyz. No nobs)
9 Big shoota boyz
12 Lootas
4 Mekboys
5 Bombsquigs
7 Dethkoptas (which will increase with the release of the new box set mind you! And hopefully I'll have a bit batch painted up before then)
19 Tankbustas with their nob
25 Burna boyz
4 Commandos
1 Shokk attack gun
2 Nobs
1 Painboy and orderly
1 Weirdboy without handlers (thank GOD)
19 Bikes, half and half new and converted old
3 Warbuggies with TL Rokkits
3 Wartrakks with TL Big Shootas
1 Wartrakk with mega blasta
1 Trukk
2 Huge Zeppelin battlewagons

What I HAVE painted

14 Stormboyz and nob
5 Trukks
1 Battlewagon (regular groundhogger)
1 Mounted Warboss
3 Mega armoured nobs
1 Ghazkull
3 Killa kans
7 Nobs
1 Squig toting warboss who will probably be a nob

And the soon to be sold

1 Stompa and 1 Klaw (which btw is 1000pts worth give or take on their own!)

And what I plan to build in the future:

1 bike toting special character guy who has the crazy rules but I can't remember his name now
1 Steam stompa REDUX
1 SMALL klaw of gork as a dread because the old one was WAY too big for what I actually wanted it to be originally

Which comes to a total of:

246 on foot troops
46 Vehicles and walkers
2 War machines

In my army at the moment!

And I have 20 unbuilt, uncut, unprepared boyz sitting in a box. That I will not build. No no no no no. I will not build them. They are parts for other things...

That's roughly 4500 - 5000 pts in models.

Woah.

Let's see if I can get them painted........

So Lemmingspawn, do you also play the game??

Or is all of this painted and sold off?

That is one daunting list of stuff!!! But if it's all built, then it's a big feat already to give you motivation. The end result will be spectacular!

Yeah I play it Migs - it's mainly the stuff I can't use or don't get much opportunity to use that I sell. Like the stompas and stuff are fun to build and the rules are cool, but I just don't get to use them and they take up too much space.

And I can't explain the feeling at the end - I do all this work, have the fun and pleasure of designing and building this great piece of work and then it's like "Meh, it's done, I'm over it, seeya!"

I'm in the process of painting up the main troops, I'll post some progress pics soon, maybe tomorrow. I've got 2 batches of 35 models being painted simultaneously, lol. The way I worked it was to lay the main coats for the first batch, and then developed a dip-wash to dip the models in instead of brushing it on. Works great except if you use PVA white glue on the base - then the pva keeps breaking down!!! At least if you let it reset it goes back to normal, but I had to superglue some to fix them.

Anyways, so I have 35 in the dip-wash stage, so while they dry I lay on the basecoats for the next 35, and I'm almost ready to take another 35 to the workshop to get them started soon too! At least at this rate I'll get the basic troops done quickly (136 boyz in total, so they will be done in four batches if I can keep the inspiration going!!!!).

Once I've finished the dip-wash of the first 35, which should be tomorrow, I'll wash the metals with the new GW washes to improve and bind the metallics. They're nothing amazing like my Iron Giants army, but they still look good. And in large numbers (like orks are want to be) they look very effective, even partway through the process.

Hey guys, just a quick peek at where I'm up to with the boyz I'm painting at the moment. On this table there are 99 orks with various weapons (mostly sluggas, choppas and shootas) in 3 stages of being SPEED PAINTED! Yep I'm doing them in roughly 30-35 lots, blocking in the main areas of paint and then dipping them in my SPECIAL wash mix. Here's a few pics:

That's it for today. This lot has taken me 7 days so far to get to this point (about 6hrs a day). Enjoy!

Good lord. You're going to end up in the loonie bin for sure.

I don't think I've seen so many painted models in such short order.

The washes are a mixture of cheap paint and the current GW washes. I use very few GW paints, and tend more toward Vallejo. I just like them better, but I'm realising that the GW paints are actually a bit thicker than the Vallejo...

Anyways - the wash... It's a cheapass folk art paint called americana or whatever else I can get that I water down a fair bit. With these models I've been going crazy with a dip method where I mix up a batch of two colours, mid brown and black, in specimen jars and fill them right up with it. Then I dip each model into the pot after the base-coating. And that gets about 4 goes before I then go over the metals with GW washes. The GW washes are Devlan Mud (my fav), Gryphon Sepia and Ogryn Flesh. I experimented with the Thraka Green over one of the mekboys because his flesh went too dirty - it cleaned it up nicely but ended up a touch darker than I wanted. But that's ok, he's an ork of a different fungus...

There's no OSL in the mix on these though...there IS a bit of verdigris on the mekboys gun end though.

Because everyones been asking so nicely.....here's some older models I painted ages ago before I got sick of painting them last time, all the Bosses and the Nobs.

These were painted using a more traditional method, not the cheaty dippy washy style but were earlier forays into the "juice" method. I call my "Sloppy juice" method .

Okay! Here's the lootas painted up with a mek a burnaboy and a big shoota boy just because. I've done up an article on Coolminiornot that I'll provide a link to later on how I have done the dipping for all those interested in that method, but for now you'll have to settle for pics!

And here's a few closeups of one model to give you an idea of what they look like up close and personal:

Enjoy!
