Wow. I just read through all of that in one go. All of the pieces are great. The paint, conversions, and large custom pieces.

Amazing stuff man, can't wait to see more.

I hadnt checked this in a while and i was looking foward to seeing Wazdakka for some err "borrowing" of ideas but then...

I saw him painted and he looked really really squashed up by the bike, it looked kinda like Ghazzgkull on a snotlings trike.

other than that no criticisms all good.

Hey Hughzle - no probs - that's kinda the look I was aiming for I was thinking of a few different ideas, but the main concept was for it to look like the rider wasn't as important as bigger guns and bigger engine. One thought was to try and make it look like the rider had to rider with one leg on top of the engine/gun or even standing just so they were able to control it, but it was pretty hard to pull off and keep to the concept pics as well.

Another idea I've had - and I might do this another time but I have to many things to get to - is to have the rider standing on top of the vehicle driving it using reins and a control panel... But like I say, I have too many things to get to before I start designing other vehicles. I just had a brainwave to build 3 steam stompas simultaneously - that's one thing I'd like to squeeze into the schedule...

And before I do that I've got 3 buggies, 1 trukk, 11 nobs, 1 more warboss, 13 deffkoptas and 6 more bikes to paint. And 25 grots to base and paint and 3 grotherds to model up that haven't even been thought of yet. And a big mek with shokk attakk gun, painboy and orderly and... I think that's it for painting.

Then I have a new battlewagon to build - I won't be waiting for the new one because I'm not a huge fan:

And I think I can build something that I am happier with:

Strange going on - I had to edit this to add stuff because all my text was typing backwards! Cool thing about that design is I can integrate the deffrolla into the front wheels.

Wow!!! What's that drawing from?? I did a little bit of a sex wee when I saw that... especially in contrast to the "meh" new battlewagon.

You can see the name of the artist and location on the bottom of the pic. Its from the galleries over on CGSociety. I found the original pic for the steam stompa there as well, and a couple of other projects I've tried, started, finished or thinking on...

It's alright - I already hate myself enough. I've got at least 4 more projects to get to and finish and I'm forcing myself to finish the orks off.

I've got the following list to finish off:

6 bikes started painting
13 Deffkoptas
24 Grots and 3 handlers
12 Nobs
Mekboy with shokk attakk
Painboy and orderly
AoBR Warboss
Weirdboy
Tankbusta nob
Trukk
3 Warbuggies

And I think that's it that I have to paint....

But now that I've seen an open topped version of the new battlewagon, it's kinda grown on me.

I like the way it looks there, so I think I might just buy one and convert it a bit for the sake of saving time so I can finish the jobs I've got left to do a bit quicker...

I had the change of heart when I saw the open topped version as well. I really really didn't like the kit when I first saw it in all plastic with the top and turrets. but without all that junk, it actually looks pretty damned cool.

Lol @ hughzle - let's not go there

The plans on the shelf at the moment are:

Painting up around 2500pts of sisters
Converting Space Wolves out of Warhammer Fantasy Chaos Warriors (the big armoured boys)
Converting a Dark Eldar army using the new Corsairs and the Cold one riders
Building 3 (YES 3!) stompas at once based on the Steam Stompa design, using a more modular build.
Walking baneblade beast

Oh, and finish touching up the rest of my armies - I have a couple squads of Firewarriors to finish, a heap of normal eldar vehicles, and the rest of the Iron Giants chaos army.

So as you can see - I've got a lot on my mind!!!!

When you say a baneblade walker do you mean: a) a stompa using baneblade rules or b) a stompa using baneblade parts or something i didnt realise.

so the hiatus that was on the iron giants has shifted to the orks?

You know your speed painting guide? I have a few questions about it.

1. Does it work if you do it in colour? (E.G. Evil sunz)

2. You mention "Dry brush gray" when talking about what to undercoat. What am I supposed to dry brush gray?

3. When using super glue to glue base terrain on, do I need to do a sealing coat too?

@ Hughzle - the baneblade walker is an Iron Giants project. I have yet to get back to that and finish it. That'll come soon enough

@ Pika_power -
1. You can use it over most any scheme, but keep in mind you might want to test it first, you need to make sure the colours and shading will be conducive to the scheme you want.

2. The grey drybrush was a bit general, I know, but it can apply to many different things. Because this army is more or less the goff type paintjob (lots of black) I do a general drybrush over the black areas, but you might find that it will work ok over greens, blues and even reds for the weathering. Again, try it out. And use a very sparse drybrush. I even use it over some brown and yellow areas.

3. Superglue is the glue of choice to ensure that all the materials are attached to the base. If you use anything porous, you need to ensure that you seal that surface, so superglue would be my sealant of choice, unless it doesn't react well to superglue (foams) or the superglue may destroy the texture effect you might have. Again - experiment.

Hope that helps out guys

OK, bigger better larger updates!

It's been prolly about 2-3 weeks since I updated this thing so here I go with some new stuff. Since last update I've painted up the rest of the bikes, all the deffkoptas and 3 warbuggies. I've also converted and based 24 grots and 3 handlers, 1 with prod, 2 with grabbas.

Over the next week or two I'll paint those up, so then after finishing this lot, all that's left to paint are:

24 Grots + 3 handlers
about 12 nobs
roughly 10 special characters
Oh! And 1 trukk

Then I've painted everything that is sitting unpainted and that ought to free me up to build another battlewagon and maybe that 3 steam stompa idea I've been toying with...

Here's some pics:

Everything I've painted since last update:

Buggies

Bikes

Coptas

Big enough update, I reckon...

They're really looking great Lem.

I love the three blade fix for the AoBR koptas, I'll definitely have to try that on a few. It hadn't crossed my mind, and for such a simple change it really changes the overall feel of the model, kudos.

Just read the whole thread from start to finish, and loving the work, lemmy!

I really like the look of the bikers, esp. the one with the skelly strapped to the front. Wazdakka's nice and the chainsaw-PK is one of my favorite bits of it.

Overall, brilliant work!

Excellent ork stuff! I love the bikes, koptas, balloons, heck I love almost everything I see... but one question. What was the mek boy thinking by adding aiming reticules to the rokkit launchas on the buggies? Was he just trying to warm up some boyz or sumthin'? "Back blast area not clear... oh neva mind him he was a git anyways!"

Nice work. Really!

Lead, follow, or get out of my way... but be careful or you may trip over my boyz corpses!

Lol @ Boss Khamzi - yeah I originally was mounting shooters behind them but they die...so they still have the targetting reticules in place. Just makes em look less like pipes stuck together and more like they shoot stuff!

Well with the introduction of a fan to speed up the dip-drying process, I've been seeing some real speed come into the painting. I've only been working on the trukk today and it's almost finished, and the grots have been started. At this rate I should have the grots and trukk practically done tomorrow afternoon and maybe get a start on the nob squad. And after a quick recount, the only models left to paint after that are a Big mek with Shokk attakk gun, A painboy and orderly, the AoBR Warboss and a weirdboy sans handlers.

So next week should see the finish of the large masses of painting. WOW! It's taken long enough...but not that long at all really...I guess it feels that way because there's so much to paint!
