Though it wasn't an option I think cutlery is stronger. My opinion of cutlery being stronger than a lasgun was reinforced after reading the short print of "The Slaughter of Clan Mackenzie". In this an Eversor Assassin kills 317 members of the same Clan mostly using items like butter knives and silver soup spoons.

About powerfists: The power field is able to be turned off, so that the wearer can still use the hand to; hold a 2 handed weapon, or throw grenades. It is also said the the most skilled users of a powerfist would be able to catch a glass bottle WITHOUT breaking it while the power field was active! Now that's skill!

lasguns cant penetrate anything. I bet an m16 could penetrate IG armor. It has to have the penetration power of a 9mm or something. They would be seriously better off with bullet weapons. They'd be easier to manufacture too.
That or rainbows, I hear they are pretty powerful compared to a lasgun.
