You guys really have me wanting to try my hand at sculpting some models now! This guy looks awesome! I can't wait to see the finished product.

I really want to play around with building something from scratch myself, I've got all kinds of crazy ideas.

Your going to be a bit more specific than ? DC. I don't understand.

That is good to hear Chrisms, I hope you can start a project soon!. I would suggest finding something simple to start with, like a scratch-built gun. If you want to go fancy this hot-glue method I have been using works quite well for medium-large models with organic shapes. Get the glue sticks from your local dollar store.

If you want to work mainly with plastic I would recommend starting with some sheet-styrene (plasticard) so you can build hard shapes for weapons and vehicles. Plastic welding requires a lot of ventilation, so have a fan and a lot of open windows when you do this. Working in a garage is always the best place to do any crafts hobby.

"Note"
Here is an example of how the torso will look... well sort of. This is a prop, and after some thought I don't really think I should post links to images of real internal organs. Not that their is much online for medical research from what I have seen.

I believe you are referring to the shoulder plate. It may look a bit awkward now, but I have a lot of green stuff sculpting ahead of me. The shoulder plate is going to be magnetized to accept both a gun arm, and a sword/ chain... well chainsaw club to be quite honest. Eldar are about the only race I would feel comfortable giving a "real" chainsword. The first weapon I make may end up being a hybrid cannon/ body part mulcher. This would be in direct homage of "Brain-Dead" of course, and all of the other fantastic Peter Jackson splatter-fests.

Advice on weapon making materials is still needed. I can get sheet-styrene, because I can't imagine being able to make the gun I want out of sprues and wire mesh. The concept I had in mind is some sort of giant nostril... not cartoony at all though. Like a demonic missile launcher, or plasma cannon. The hybrid-gun arm will look something like a super-soaker infested by the devil. Not a Tyranid super-soaker, a demonic super-soaker that looks less like a crab, and more like road-kill.

Before I get ahead of myself with grandiose ideas of trapped souls in a bubble on the back, robotic organ harvesters, a exposed system of ravenous intestine (yes please do watch Brain-Dead, and see for yourself the wonders of this feat), a crushed rhino or dread in the BIG hand, several severed space marines still shooting as they are picked into assorted piles of "parts", spine banks that are tipped like syringes, and a system of organically grown (why right over here, in my garden of despair and unripened tomatoes) weapons of torture and dismemberment; I will need a bit of C&C to give me a bit more of a focused goal.

Working on weapon concept art for a few days I suppose. There is not much more I can think of doing with the model until my green-stuff arrives. And when it does, I can finally get to the easy part. Here are some pics, I'll just keep drawing and posting until someone says... "HEY!!!"

The top one will indeed be used at some point for a space wolves something or other

One quick question :

Cant you use some clay or whatever you where using to make the demon and sculpt something onto him like "pipes" or something?

I could attempt to use the Yellow-gray milliput, but would expect a pretty epic failure. The air drying clay is WAY to brittle to hold anything with integrity besides the most minute detail. The clay has become chalky, although it has served to be an extremely effective counter-weight to the rest of my model.

So in short, no I have no material that would really be strong enough to create any kind of surface detail as of now.

Update. Final gun-arm up for C&C.

Here is a description of what you see below.

The Demons arm resembles that of a rotten head of a giant horse laden with clouded eyes and a putrid scent. The nostrils of the mutant face take the place of two large cannons, firing whatever bile seems appropriate at that time. The arm also doubles as a "manufacturing plant", so to speak. When the creature emerges from hiding it immediately begins taking the pieces of it's victims into it's bowels. The small arms under the end of the arm serve to batter and harass any offending characters from the monstrous cannon and sub-digestive system. Where a fore-arm would be present a grotesque stone like face presents itself in full horror. The upper arm is where the demons victims are first ingested; if not directly through the mouth or torso that is. The "undesirable" pieces of gore are simply kept in a sac where they wait ejection with ill intent. The arm itself can form a shield to block and regenerate even the strongest blows.

Gun? He can have a gun? Is it a soul-grinder? (look hopeful)

It will have a gun most definitely. I am not clear on Chaos fluff and specific unit sizes, so is he could count as a soul-grinder so be it says I. In fact I think the model will work out out to be about the same width, but probably much taller; this could be a good thing for a soul-grinder though.

I was hoping for some feedback on the weapon design.

Which gun looks best? The bottom one is more basic and would be a bit easier to build, but the top one is my favorite.

I did a preliminary concept elaborating further on the gun arm. It needs a few adjustments; such as removing the tusk possibly, and making the cannon more visible and a bit more nurgly. Please take a moment to tell me what you think.

Thank you. I am trying to get the community involved so the model can evolve so to speak. More than anything I am reviewing my design process, just to keep the old-brain cog spinning. Input, whether it is positive or negative (constructive of course) is extremely valuable to me.

Little things in the picture, mainly the gun and tusk are what I would like a bit of feedback on. Possibly a nurgle flamer barrel style? Like it is made from bone and rotten flesh. Should it have a crest along the "forehead"?

Check this model out though, I like it a lot. Not that similar to what I am doing, but inspirational nonetheless. The head is very well done.

Combine this with the last picture and you will have something along the lines of my project... just add more grossness.

Thanks ToxicHazard; which festival were you at?

I just wanted to take a minute to share some of my favorite childhood art.

I would say these are my 3 favorite artists=
-Stephen Gammell_ I can honestly say this artist had the most profound effect on my drawing in general; truly amazing stuff... this was a kids book? Geez http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&um=1&sa=1&q=Maurice+sendak&btnG=Search+Images&aq=f&oq=

(I love this drawing so much.)

This is the center of my mind... I love it here so very much, twitch twitch

Here is some stuff I just ran into. Reminds of a lot of the art I have seen in Juxtapoz magazine, I don't like Juxtapoz very much usually (mainly because of the profuse amounts of adds infecting the articles) but they do occasionally have some very interesting stuff.
-Chris Mars

Fun stuff, but all the faces are not really my style.

This one is also nice.

That is pretty cool.

So my green stuff came and apparently I missed the postman... SO! I will have to go to the post-office tomorrow to pick it up. Oh, yes fun times to come

The commissar sure isn't!!!

"YOU... HEY YOU, get over here so I can heet you with my sword."

...OK... One minute, I need to screw my brain back in. Has anyone ever put the commissar straddling the a tanks gun like a bayonet? OMFG... I have to make that.

"No metal is tougher than the commissar, he is made of PURE bad-ass. Pure bad-ass happens to be more resilient than even wraithbone, and some commissar enjoy making a "point" of this by performing bayonet duty; although he rarely gives up this opportunity many guardsmen have been taught a lesson by showing the commissar what they are "made" of."

Looks like a pretty fun festival. Sun...in... England?

Apparently my green stuff is not at the post office, which is pretty irritating. BUT... my phone company gave my a free months service after I brought the FCC into the equation after a long, and extremely drawn out problem. Hey, not a bad trade... I want my green stuff. . Apparently a single letter is more than big enough or something to be simply put in my mailbox... so weird.

I am going to start by making a simple chainsaw arm like in the drawing my friend did. At some point I will make a second arm using the mouth gun stomach thing design, but I want to finish the model before making any other fancy pieces, especially now that I am getting behind on my original schedule.
