Omaha, NE - Game Shoppe 1) Mech Guard (4 Vendetta List) 2) Nids - big bugs 3) ? Not sure but think it was SM variant And why don't I know you ask? I got the bye on the last round . . . So out of 16, I was unlucky 13th. Each squad had the potential of knocking out tanks/vehicles, but the dice were not kind. Probably would have done better with my 2500pt list of Tau.

Rivals in Hillsboro, OR.
1st - LF missile spam SW
2nd - Mech BA (me)
3rd - Drop Wolves (rednekgunner)
Great opponents, no issues.
Game 1 was nearly an autowin for me, as I went 2nd w/plenty of fast vehicles to contest.
Game 2 was a tense bloodbath against a 6-predator mech BA list.
Game 3 I massacred a Vulkan mech list which had 12kp more than mine.

Came in 5th out of 18, 2 pts away from number 4 spot, 4 pts from number 2/3 spot (it was tied), and about 10 from number 1.
1st battle vs. SMurfs
Major Victory for me. I had about 400 more kp than my opponent, so he put up a good fight (and also ended up in the 4th place spot...). I ended up winning the game by DAVU-shocking him off of the objectives on the last turn of the game.
2nd battle vs. ork swarm/hordes
Major LOSS for me. Spearhead deployment against a 192 model ork swarm? By turn 2 I was literally surrounded. In fact, I spent most of the game trying to fight my way out of the corner. Everytime I opened a hole, it was filled back up by the horde. Fire prisms proved to be absolutely useless (which is bad, because I expected them to save me in the (what I thought was an unlikely) event that I went up against a horde army. Everytime I fired the pieplate, at a unit which would have taken a brutal punishing blow... it scattered about 8" to the right... into a unit of ork nobz, which got a nice 4+ cover save, PLUS they had cybork bodies... Can you say I didn't really kill all that much? Yeah...
In the end I missed getting the minor loss (and possibly 3 place) by about 20 pts...
3rd battle vs. blood angels
Massacre for me. I claimed 18 killpts, and I only gave up 9 (2 of which were fireprisms... yeah, those actually ended up being the weakest link in my list, 1 survived the second game... somehow.... but thats about it)...

New World Games & Comics, OKC
1) Mech Eldar
2) SW World Wolf army (I think)
3) Massive Horde Ork army (240 models)
I did not play, but got to watch some increadible games. 14 players started 12 were able to stay to finish.
Round 1 had only one Major and one Draw every other game was a Minor.
Round 2 hurt a few players but it was still fairly close.
Round 3 had some straight out massacres and some tight games.
The Horde Ork was impressive just to see, had almost no speed and lost less than 1000 points in each off his games.

Played Sunday at Ancient Wonders in Tualatin, OR.
Brought my Sisters with Guard Allies. Got 6th.
Top 3
1) Demons
2) Foot / Mech mix Wolves
3) Eldar
Massacred my first opponent. Khan bikes with LR and a couple tac squads.
Tied a Mech Dar with bike council and foot council. Great guy, tough game.
My score at this point put me on the top table against Daemons.
Got WTFPWND by Daemons. Like seriously. I know I haven't played against anyone but people at my house in a while, but I just did not know how to deal with Daemons. Add to that a person with the rules knowledge and precision I last saw in Ragnar, and I ate some serious death.
Highlights. Changeling having my vets drop 3 meltas and a demo on my Canoness and an Exorcist killing another Exorcist.
Venue was VERY hot and stuffy, but three games against three armies that I don't get to play normally made it fun.
And now I know how I'd deal with fast daemons next time (no crushers, 4 heralds, 3 Fiends, 1 dogs, 3 DPs, ouch)

I think the breakdown for mine was.
1st. Chaos Marines
2nd. Marines
3rd. Orks
I took fifth with Marines, but afterwards we found out my first opponent had an illegal list and was over the points limit. I would have taken 3rd had the catch been made early enough. It was very close over all. 1st and 2nd was a tie breaker by victory points, and 4th and 5th was as well.
First game was against Abbaddon and Kharn leading 80 Berserkers. I pulled a Minor Victory.
Second was against the Orks. He had a maxed out Nob Bike Squad, Mega Armor Nob Squad, and about 120 boys. Minor Loss on that one.
Third was against a very balanced Chaos Marines army. Started off strong with a solid massacre in the first half of the game, then the dice went to hell on me and ended with a Minor Victory.

Not here to discuss rules, but that's incorrect. An MC gives up half points if it is reduced to half of its wounds or below - pg. 300, BGB (unless there was a section I missed in the Scenario rules. . .).

Placings went like this:
1. Foot Orks
2. Khornate Daemons
3. Jump pack BA tied with BT

Which is a slight advantage at best. Even if you get a single massacre, you dont get in by getting annihilated in the other two games.
People will find any excuse to support this nonsense. Guess what? Anyone not playing nids (ex. Mech vs Mech) would have had an easy time getting massacres as well. Considering it seems like there were only a couple Nid players at each store, S3 shouldnt have affected the totals of most of the "top tier" armies and their tournament scores anyways.

Getting a free pass for 1/3 of the tournament only constitutes a "slight advantage" in your mind? Reality check, please.
I agree that Mech vs Mech could score a massacre easily--another flaw with the mission. 7 killpoints over an opponent when 30-50 points are available is tiny, analogous to a 2-4 advantage in a normal game. Now play those numbers with 20 kp Tyranids vs 50 kp IG, or 65 kp DE. Slight advantage indeed.

In the Sudbury Ontario Ard Boyz
1st: Nids (me) 66pts
2nd: Tie DE and SM got 49pts a piece.
I massacred in the first round; tabling my opponent ( BA) in round 3 and then got two solids in the next two rounds with all 4 bonus soft points. I tried to build a well rounded list (and succeeded i think) but even I will admit that the new Nids codex makes the bugs a bit ridiculous. I beat the 2 second place dudes in my next two matches (major victories with all 4 bonus points) and they were able to pull off massacres in their other games barely beating out the other competition.
Can't wait for the next round in Kingston

I played Hybrid Wolves, changed from 13 vehicle Mech Wolves due to last mission. Turns out I picked up more firepower, and with no DoW I had those Long Fangs pumping out shots from turn 1. Was a good day all in all, and thanks again to Above Board Games for some great tables/scenery, and comfortable (OMG I <3 good A/C) gaming.
Store Results:
1. Foot/Can Orks
2. Priest/Fang Wolves (me)
3. LR/Term Lysander SM
Round 1 - IG Leaf Blower
Started out real well, but around turn 3 the game kinda stalled. Both of our dice went to crap and it became more of a dance until turn 6 when we went for the last minute node grabs. Ended up pulling a minor here, because I thought that I required the shots from the guys inside my RB holding the center to finish of his squad contesting their node. Turns out I required about two more squads of guys since his cover saves were 90-95% on point. The light show from his unit that followed managed to finish the squad and cost me the contest for that one. End result 13pt minor for me.
Round 2 - BA Vind/Pred Spam
I all but tabled the opponent here. He had 3 Vinds, 3 Baal Preds, LRC+assault squad, some tac squads on foot with Lascannons, Walking CC Dread, and a Huge DC Jump squad with Meph flying with them. There was a large ruin in the center of the table, and I got to go first chosing the corner with a nice three story building to stack my Long Fangs in. None of his vehicles except one Baal Pred that wasted the game taking the long way around a flank to avoid the fire, and a vind with no weapons made it past midfield. When the nasty jump squad finally made it to me I rolled up 3 transports full of guys and proceeded to shoot the 90% of my army still up into that unit. They really shoulda let me add a crater to the scenery. End result 23pt massacre for me.
Round 3 - SM LR/Term Vulcan.
I would like to take full credit for this one. However I will have to point out here that there was a 3 story building about 2 ft long that would fit 3 of my transports as well as ALL of my Long Fangs across the top of it. Clear field of elevated vision to all but the very corners of his deployment. He had a building about half that size which would hold maybe 2 vehicles. My army was made for bunkering up while his was not so my gaining that vantage was the deciding factor in this. He decided to hold what would not hide in that building in reserve. I had placed half my vehicles out to make him decide if he wanted to go for them early or hope to make some good shots when his reserves arrived, and he chose the later. Rounds 2 everything but the DS terms and the Raiders comes in. His Speeders and Razors show up and pop 2 of my transports. The resulting barrage 21 + 2d6 hvy weapon shots coming out of that building killed all but one of his Razorbacks and it was stuck behind wreckage in the corner. The next round the terms show up and since I have the inside of the building packed up they port in out front hoping to weather the storm of fire, or hope that I focused on his raiders. With some good dice against the tanks for me and some horrible saves for him after my turn there was one raider and 2/10 terms still on the board. From then on it was his remaining guys in the building and his immobile landraider trading shots with my Longfangs. By the end though I had lost a couple 5 man squads, and all but one of my transports so he did the best he could with a crap situation. End result Major Victory 20 pts.
Ended up finishing second right under kartofelkompf (sp?), and will be heading to the Semi's again this year. Will probably be heading up to The Hobbit in NC again this year. Hope to see you there.

I played in Delaware at the ice house. I'm really happy to see I'm the only sister’s player that placed. I've been playing 40k for about 4 months now so that’s cool. Allot of fun hope I do well in the next round.
1st Me with sisters of battle
2nd No idea
3rd space marines
Also someone asked a question or made a comment, about the 3rd mission.
I'm kind of shocked to see this many Mech guard armies place this well. Those scenarios are probably the worst missions I've ever seen in 20 years of playing Warhammer games. They were definitely designed to screw Mech lists over (with mech guard being the most vulnerable) and clearly it didn't work very well. I would love to know how so many mech guard players won with such a massive disadvantage in that one scenario.
If you look at it from a Mech list it goes like this. From what I’ve noticed about 40k the person with the tanks has a better chance of winning. Again I'm new to 40k so keep the nerd rage to a minimum. So wouldn't it make since that in the final round if the IG leaf whatever list is there he would be playing against another tank heavy list. The kill points don't really change anything. If they were trying to hurt Mech IG they should have made squadrons worth more kill points. Just my too cents, again I'm new to 40k so I could be way wrong on this. I had 48 kill points my opponent hat 39.
I mass all my opponents to it was allot of fun.

I played at Sci-Fi City in Orlando as well. Played this Blood Angels list:
Sanguinor
Reclusiarch w/ Combi-melta
Furioso Librarian Dread w/ Heavy Flamer, Might of Heroes, Blood Lance in Drop Pod w/ Locator Beacon
Corbulo
Sanguinary Priest
5 Assault Terminators w/ 4 Lightning Claws in Land Raider Crusader
8 Death Company w/ Powerfist, 2 Power Weapons in Land Raider Redeemer
Death Company Dreadnought w/ Blood Talons, Heavy Flamer in Drop Pod with Locator Beacon
10-man Assault Squad w/ 2 Flamers, Power Weapon in a Rhino
5-man Assault Squad w/ Meltagun, Power Weapon in Razorback w/ Twin-linked Heavy Flamer
5-man Assault Squad w/ Meltagun, Power Weapon in Razorback w/ Twin-linked Heavy Flamer
In testing, I was able to tie against Black Templars once, and I beat a foot logan list in the third mission by 5 kill points.
In actual play, I had a by the first round because I was the odd man out.
I faced a good Necron player in the second round, and it literally came down to his passing of 6 armor saves and passing his moral test, or I would have swepped him and phased him out. Considering I had no answer for Monoliths in a Victory Point mission, I had to throw everything at phasing him out. Without being able to phase him, I took a minor loss.
Second round I faced off against a Blood Angels list that was all jump troops (60 actually) and 9 Multimelta attack bikes. I had some bad rolls, he had some good ones. (like breaking out of combat with the MM attack bikes, regrouping in his turn and shooting up more tanks), and at the end of the game I still had a massive amount og KPs over him, however, he was able to kill me to the man at the very end of turn 6, giving him full points.
Needless to say, I will not be going to the semi finals.

Well things ended all right but didn't start well... I played against the Dark Lance Spam list, won turn to go first AND he stole the initiative... well I got hit hard turn and it hurt, but managed to pull the minor victory.
After that, got major win then massacre.
Now if only you had used a rune priest instead of your silly bob the inquisitor, you would have had 3 massacres! ;P
I tied for first at Battleground Games in MA. People that moved on were:
1) Me with Space Marines with Vulkan, Pedro, thunderfire cannons, 30 tac marines, 10 TH/ SS termies, and the kitchen sink
1) IG with a good mix of infantry platoons and russes
3) Blood Angels

No, it's a slight advantage. Since you agree S3 was easy to massacre another mech army even if you were playing mech, I fail to see how the players playing in the other 95% of the games (playing non tyranids) were affected at all. You cant massacre one game and get into the top 3, and a Nid massacre against one player has no affect on maximum gain for any other player in the tournament.
Again, you agreed it was easy for anybody to get a massacre, so anybody who got one in S3 against a non Tyranid army would have an equal amount of points as any Nid player. It would then fall to the results for rounds 1 and 2, where tyranids had no advantage at all. Except, if tyranids were a weak codex like the ignorant keep claiming, that would surely mean that Tyranids would have a disadvantage, no? Why didnt the Space Wolves/BAs/ IG who all got massacres in S3 against weak, non tyranid armies beat out the nids in points in S1 and S2?
The fact is, you dont get 60 points, even with a free massacre, by drawing or losing the other 2 games. If S3 made it easy for Tyranids, and ONLY Tyranids to massacre, then yes, it would be an advantage.
