Ultramarines have great fluff. Its just if they had different colors people would still hate them. I mean they are subject to some of the best lore in the 40k universe. Like the Battle of Macragge was a great Read! (index astartes was so much better )
Also the Ultramarines have great characters! I am a Vanillia Chapter Player. But I made my own chapter name Icongraphy, Ranks, Orgainzation, Traditions, and etc.

The biggest drawback with the Smurfs is that they are well... How can I put this gently? Noob's Favorite? And let us not forget they are dreamt as the best chapter in the whole WORLD. For The Emperor's sakes! That is such a false statement. The chapter is so bland when it comes to the new codex it makes me want to burn it. Hence why i stopped playing the hobby and just started painting and making lore! Because one day i walked in All ultramarine players and Blood Angels..... I died a little inside that day....
