OOC: I disapprove of this terrible grammar. Debut IC post: Jake glanced around at the man who had spoken. He replied confidently, "Corporal Reed, ready for action sir!" He shouted so that he could be heard over the engines. The massive PR-K7 Dropship roared furiously, hauling itself off the ground into the air. All hatches were sealed, the interior pressurized and the roaring of the engines dulled slightly, allowing normal levels of conversation. "Good to have you aboard, Corporal," Tibbs replied enthusiastically, "that makes you my second-in-command," he noted. Jake caught a jealous look from the woman who was meticulously checking the workings of her rifle. The giant in PLEX armor seemed impassive to this revelation; but then, since when had the heavies cared about leadership roles? They had big guns and therefore they had their job. To go in, and make sh*t die. Hell, that's what they were all there for, but Heavy Assault Troopers did it in a louder and far less subtle way. Nonetheless, Jake was glad to have him with them - his considerable power in a combat situation was not to be taken lightly, and he knew that they would need him. Foley leaned over to Gaz, the Heavy Assault Trooper, and whispered with a sneer, "That idiot - in-charge of us?" She paused to spit on the floor for emphasis, "We'll all be dead if we follow that fool!" Gaz just turned, grinned inside his helmet, and replied loudly enough for everyone to hear, "Ah, bit jealous of Mr. Reed are we?" Foley just slumped back in her seat angrily. Jake glanced over at the stranger who was skulking at the back; the so-called "Ghost" that had defected. He didn't trust him, and he'd make sure to keep an eye on him - just in case. "And what's your story, Ghost?" He asked James. OOC: Maybe it's time to chase up the other UN players, eh Mordo? [edit for spelling]

I pressed it.
I like how we're now using the standard roleplay format.
But Mordo, as GM, I charge you with bringing back the other UN players. I don't want to be on me own.

OOC I liked the first Lazarus because it had the feel of general terror that our character might die. It had the feel of a real rp you would do outside of Dakka with friends. In this kinda format players just sorta god mode. The whole reason I liked Lazarus was it seemed like the only rp on Dakka that implemented a roping system. You did get creativity of what you got to do with your post you would make decisions. Whenever you would pick to go to the Engineering room or Green House you would consider what would have the best supplies and if you could fight the beast you might face there. All of the rps on Dakka are already like that. Why ruin Lazarus?

I never said ruin it/convert completely. That's what Events are for, and the GM can do it at any time he likes. He can even specify certain situations in which we must wait if he truly wishes. But the roleplay would be very slow otherwise.
Besides, the other system is good if managed properly, so I would hardly call a complete change to that "ruining it". Changing yes, and I'm not saying we should.

Gaz laughed at the corporal
"ohh he's fine,
and I've got my eye on him already for any of you that were wondering.
any one know how long it is till we land?"
Gaz already didn't like some of these people like the Foley girl,
this corporal Reed though, his personality was hard to read.

Alright, let us discuss. I like the traditional format, but not enough to convert Lazarus over to it completely. What you should do is this; Describe your actions in detail, but don't go crazy. Describe your reactions, your emotions, your actions. I'll have you roll if you have a chance of death (often). I want to mesh these systems, so that both casual and hard core RPers can enjoy it. I'm open to suggestions.

That is why, as I said earlier, roleplaying is all about trust and acceptance that creating a good, enjoyable story is more important than winning/surviving...
..but winning is always fun..

OOC:Wait a second, are the UN forces attacking the city yet? Otherwise wouldn't they just be plain rebels?
I agree with going the Lazarus way. There are a lot of RP's using the 'choose a or b' path and a lot using the 'GM does events but doesn't control much else'. Lazarus seems like a middle ground between those two. The GM gives us events and allows us to create our own options without controllingtoo much of the story. Let's give it a go for awhile, the last Lazarus was a success from what I've read.

Conclave Players- The UN is not in Chicago yet, so you would not be fighting them. Also, clean up your posts, I have no idea what you guy's are doing.

Mordoskul wrote:Conclave Players- The UN is not in Chicago yet, so you would not be fighting them. Also, clean up your posts, I have no idea what you guy's are doing. UN Players- I'll have your event up sometime tomorrow. OOC: I believe that Dace(wild host) and Chimera19(shroud) are right next to each other in the coolant tower room. Dab746151(myself) has moved deeper into the room by moving around the corner. Hassan and Kremlin are both where they were after the first shootout. Dace and Chimera had a nice little chat about their respective training and time in the conclave. Dace is reporting rebel fire from somewhere in the coolant tower room. I'm not sure where the fire is coming from(above, below, all around, or somewhere) so I'll have to assume that around some other corner there were rebels hiding and they ambushed both Dace and Chimera who were standing still. BIC: Dab continued to move further into the room and it appeared to him that he had lost the trail of the rebel worker. The fact that he had lost the trail didn't necessarily annoy Dab, but the fact that he was unable to accomplish his mission did. He returned from around the corner to see the ghost and phantom talking to each other as if it was designated free time. Dab felt annoyed with the fact that these two stealth specialists were not actively assisting him in seeking the rebels, but if he had to do it on his own he would have to attempt to do so. With a loud cough he grabbed their attention, "If you two would please split up and search different areas of this rather large room we could locate the rebels faster. Keep in radio contact however, it would be strategically deteriorating if an asset was lost and the others did not know of it.". With that Dab looked at the intersection of the pathways between the coolant towers, "I'll continue north, away from the point of entry. East and West are viable options as South will return us to the door.". With that Dab pressed on northward between the rows of towers.
