I started playing warhammer in 8th grade, and now I play in college.
I think a competitive hobby that involves kids as well as adults is a terrible idea. It really isnt possible for a young adult to have a game with an adult. Also kids who are really young shouldnt be in gaming stores with adults its not a day care service.
I had ALOT of problems when I was a kid. I remember one adult yelled at me for being "disrespectful" and the rulebook clearly favored my opinion.
Yea warhammers a funny hobby. IMO get together with friends your age who dont care if they win or loose, thats when its fun.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

Bit elitist, much? I have had GREAT games of Warhammer with people 2 times my age, and great games of Warhammer with people my age. In short, it is totally possible for a young adult to have a great game of Warhammer with an adult, as long as said young adult has a brain and is not hyped up on sugar/energy drinks. Just limiting yourself to playing games with people your age smack of being social "challenged" (not saying you are, your just giving that impression).

Someone did that once at the video game store I was managing at the time. The parents were incensed when they showed up three hours later to pick their child up and the child wasn't there. Running to the counter in a panic, they asked where their child was. 'I called mall security fifteen minutes after you left and had them pick him up. They're located just off the center courtyard, next to the Abercrombie store.'
This makes me smile. It's rarely the kid's fault, it's the parent's.

Its not the game, its society. No matter what facet of life you observe, your going to have bad apples. That why you find the good apples, take down their number, and form an external gaming club away from the stores with those players.

I can't think of many other shops that have a large youth customer base which actively encourages that group to stay in the shop and use their purchases, alongside an adult customer base doing much the same thing. Closest we can figure here in Festung ArbeitsSchu is that a GW is closer in spirit to a Community Centre or Sports and Leisure centres, or some kind of bar and thus it follows that the means of handling customers should most closely reflect how such places are managed.

"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" Mario Savio |

You know, the best way to solve the problem is just to have GW's open Bars in their stores, and maybe a seperate room for the younger and newer players.
I know of a BB that does that here, where one room is meant for gamers who have been playing for more then 2 years, and another room for the youngsters and rookies. It makes it quite peaceful... sadly, no bar in the more advanced room
