Im planning to buy a bloodhirster and 2 boxes of bloodletters. for the cool looks. for that same reason Im planning to buy an inquisitor and some henchmen. And I wont buy any codexes for them.

Dreadnoughts aka Murder coffins. These guys got me to start 40k and space marines.

OOP Necrons

I've bought up a fair few and I'm going to be fielding:
20 OOP warriors (Actually own 40+)
10 OOP Immortals
2 OOP lords (Own 4)
5 OOP destroyers. (Have 6/7)

I also have 3/4 bases of scarabs too.

I just really prefer the oop crons, they look meaner to me than the current models do.

How come Stormtroopers are bad? If you think they are bad, you may be using them wrong.
I agree that they aren't the best option, however they do have some uses.
Sure, veterans are also a good choice, but veterans cannot deepstrike.
I run an all infantry list, and the ability to deepstrike next to an enemy is quite nice.

I'll go with the thunderfire cannon! Somehow, I ended up buying three before realising how terrible they are! :/ But they're reasonable against orks or nids when you have three, so that's the main time I use them!

True and since they are ELITE, they don't have to survive a round of shooting or sit on an objective.

No but since they cost a lot it would be nice if they did...

How can the thunderfire canon be considered bad in any regard!? I love the thing, it blows holes in the enemy line, and is ridiculously cheap. Seriously, 25pts for a giant gun and a servo harness for my techmarine.

As a side note, when I said I chose plascan sentinels because I like them, I am not saying they're weak.

They're very effective, in fact, especially combined with an army that has lots of other high strength, low AP blast weapons. Which Guard can easily do.

Guys, the thread is about units you put in your army regardless of their combat effectiveness.

If you want to stay on topic, you need to ignore and avoid discussion of why a unit is or isn't effective in combat.

I point blank refuse to leave my traitor guard's barracks without 5 Ogryns. If only to make silly noises when they die horribly.

I love to take my Thunderfire Cannon because I think its an awesome model.

I like having flavourful characters in a list, someone you can't get through a battle without, regardless of how well they fit your list

I must agree. I built my marine captain first so that I was happy with the way he looked and after that checked the points. I never battle without him.

I like Rough Riders. And Marbo. Hell, any of my conversions I like will definitely be featured in my army.

I know it's getting lots of malice, but I think the Stormraven is easily the best GW-model of the last 5 years or so. Gothic Eye-liner Space Elves aint for me.

Well they did kill some Imperial Guard wednesday night but thats unusual.........

For my Guard;
Sentinels (love the concept, love converting these things, they aren't horrible in game either)
Rough riders (look super cool, sometimes useful)
Ogryns (Mostly just get shot up, but love putting them on the field)
Penal Legion (field them as cowboys, unpredictable but tons of fun)
Storm Troopers (because ... awesome)
LR Punisher (can't get enough of that gattling cannon)

For orks: Pretty much the entire army but mostly;
Looted vehicles
Bikes

For SW;
Blood Claws

Also, in chaos, I often field spawn, useless, useless, spawn.

I always take my Chaplain on bike and Librarian with jump pack in my army. The chaplain was a birthday gift so maybe I'm sentimental in always using it, usually with a bike squadron. And the Librarian is an old lexicanium model and was the first character model I bought for my army so again I probably just keep using it for sentimental reasons, usually paired with an assault marine squad. Regardless of sentimentality I just enjoy the models even if the chaplain sometimes falls over half way through a game.

I also include stormravens. I like making silly noises when moving them and leaping squads out of it

Why stop at 2 if you can take 3! I take 3 in my GK army cause I think they are so cool.
