Nobody said Berzerkers were a bad choice...

As for Noise Marines, they'd be a good unit if they cost less or got sonic blasters as standard. Right now, you're paying 5pts for a fearless Chaos Marine with 1 extra point of initiative. 10 CSMs with the MoS gives you 10 marines with I5 for 30pts less than 10 Noise Marines, who then have to spend yet more points to buy unit specific weaponry.

Ol' Gav must've been trippin' when he wrote the CSM codex. Never before have I seen a recent codex (when it was released) that managed to have such a mix of good units and terrible units.

Crazed Dreadnoughts, crappy possessed and overcosted Noise Marines alongside Plague Marines, Obliterators and Berzerkers... It's utterly mind-boggling.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I really like striking scorpions and the incubi. I also like the background between karrandras and arhra. I just wish there was more of it.

Back with the old DE codex I had 2 dracons with tormentor and punisher, with a unit of incubi each while my troops were lead by syb (forgotten the name of the warrior leader :( ) with the same.

If Drazhar made incubi troops in the current codex I'd almost certainly do that.

I'm holding out hope for Karrandras making scorpions troops and I'll start Eldar back up. They're still in my 3rd edition box that hasn't been opened since I took the rulebook out and started my DE.

Read the whole thread. This is about running because it looks cool / you like it, not about functionality. Also NM are only good for their upgrades, which are a good pinning template weapon and a strong flamer with cheap slighty-better bolters.

I really don't want to de-rail the thread though. That would be just rude.

So to stay on topic: I also occasionally run a Nurgle Lord with Plaguebringer demon weapon. Not because he's any more useful than a prince (he's not) but because I custom made one that looks so cool (won't post it and flood the thread, you can just click on my gallery if you want.)

Also my white scars biker comand squad, 2 pwr fists, 2 pwr weps, apothicary, 2 combi meltas, and 4 storm shields. Its far too expensive but it's also far too much fun.

You know, they actually have their uses. I was in a tourney and had a squad of Veterans running to an uncontested objective. They hid behind an immobilized, weapon destroyed Rhino. The dread decided to Fire Frenzy and promptly blew up the rhino, killing one of my guys, causing me to fail the LD check, and have them run off the board (below half strength). Would've been a win for me.

Anyways, on topic, Stormtroopers because the Kasrkin models are ace, and hellhounds because....well, they're flame tanks! How can you say no?

I used to love to run a Slaaneshi Chaos Havoc squad with 4 flamers and a champ with combi-flamer and power weapon. That squad would devour hordes and even took out most of a seer council once. I had an alternate champ with powerfist and combi-melta to have an anti-tank option as well Good times.

That's actually really cool. I found at 1000 it was best to max on one thing but you've managed to fit in opposite extremes that woudl be hard for many to counter. I used to love to run two 5 man CSM squads in rhinos (one champ), two DPs, a Greater Daemon and two have squads (one ML squad and one HB squad). It could cover everything and only lost a few times

Other units I use because I like them? Well, nearly my whole eldar army for starters... Scorpions, banshees, reapers, spears... Fire Prisms... (Yes, I know they aren't really seen as not competitive, but it frankly never does anything major for me. Yet, I like it so much.)
