That's the same dredd they are selling today. I think it is from an older model but would be surprised if this guy was mistaken; there were a few other 'klassik' ork players agreeing with him, so IDK.

Actually, no it isn't

Orks got new Deff Dredds and Killa Kanz a bit back.

Check out the GW site under Ork: Heavy Support for nee, (and awesomely cool) models.

There was an even earlier ork dredd. I used to have one but have no pics.

Huh, don't know how I missed that release. When did that happen? The one you linked is the one I have always seen in play and at the stores.

I like the older one more, having seen them both now. The skull on the front is too grim dark for me. The rest of the universe has skulls everywhere, the orks are supposed to be fun wacky.

It comes with several different faceplates. The Skull is one option, but there are other ones that are less 'grimdark'.

It also comes in 2 parts, so you could just give him an iron jaw, and use a different eye-piece. I added the jaw piece to one of my older metal dredds, and it looks OK.

Dreadsocking with the newer one is a bit counter-productive though The dredd is plastic, and a bit fragile

What's the range of a grot's gun anyway?

It's a lot cheaper if you get the 2nd ed monopose grots on ebay (or out of your retro-models drawer)

Still not cheap though, but then what army is?

Less horribly expensive, you mean

The only cheap armies GW ahs ever produced (IMO) were the hive gangs for Necromunda. I had a 4 model gang of spyrers

T3 means 163 wounds
Sv 5+ is 108 unsaved

MEQ

T4 is 109 wounds
Sv 3+ is 36 unsaved

Orks
109 wounds
91 unsaved

So, basically nothing can survive this. Yay mathhammer!!

Speaking of mathhammer, I noticed two things earlier. First, someone suggested 120 guardians against 2,000 points of grots. In reality one would need 250 guardians, minus obligatory weapons platforms, to meet 2,000 points.

Second, 12" from long table edge on a 6x4 foot table should theoretically have the same area as a table quarter, since the geometric difference is you cut one dimension in half, then multiply the other by 2. When going from table quarter to long edge, one cuts the width in half - going from 24" wide to 12" wide - then multiplies the length by 2 - going from 36" long to 72" long, and vice versa going the other way. It's the same area, just re-arranged.

Long table edge would have.... 72" long x 12" wide = 864 square inches.
Table quarter would have........ 36" long x 24" wide = 864 square inches.

Back on-topic, many years ago, I was a young guy, and I'd been reading on the GW forums, the Space Marine Commandments. So naturally, I asked this Ork player, "Why do the red ones go faster?" trying to make a joke. When he ignored me, I just shut up and admired his half of the table, which was covered in nothing but grots. Lots, and LOTS, of metal grots with blastas. All of which were painted.
