I'd love to see some primed/washed (not painted) shoulderpads with the finer material.
Once the tech is up to scratch, I'll be sorting out a couple of designs and a pile of pads. Automatically Appended Next Post: Not sure if you take suggestions on things that would sell or just do customs exclusively - but I think a Judge Dredd-style eagle shoulderpad - but perhaps with the common historical slant - of the double-headed eagle!
I'd consider commissioning it, but the truth is I'd rather not wear the cost to commission something that I feel will then sell in large quantities afterwards to others.

Thanks! Rhino parts should not be an issue as I recently got back some test doors and they fit great!

I'll see what I can do about some primed pads, washes don't do super well with this material unfortunately.
As for suggestions, I'm always open to suggestions, but they do fall to the end of the list and as of right now I unfortunately only have time to work on paid Commissions as I wrap up my Bachelor's degree
But next year you can expect to see a lot more non-commissioned designs flowing out. I've got quite a few ideas I've been sitting on over the last semester and have been really been wanting to work on them.
Thanks for the feedback as always

Hi there Homenutt, sorry I'm just getting to your message. I should start checking Dakka everyday.
The easiest way to start talking commissions is to visit my website, http://custom-minis.blogspot.com/p/commissions.html and fill out the commission form. We can then talk more about the design and what you're looking for.
Also, just a heads up to everyone else, I just started a Facebook page that should have updates on work and products. Check it out, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Custom-Minis/194670827279457
Thanks!

Seems like this would be a perfect way to make some true scale space marine shoulder pads. From what I have seen so far most people take the Terminator shoulder pad and add the raised border with plasticard.
Would love to get some plain old shoulder pads, but in terminator dimensions!

I see you got some terminator-sized pads up. Very awesome. I'll probably get you to do a set for me in the next few months in the winged-hammer-blood design I had you do earlier.
Out of curiosity, can you do a 3D icon like what you did for my winged hammer shoulder pads, but not on a shoulder pad? Something with a concave back that could be glued onto a shoulder pad? I have a pile of metal minis that can't have their pads replaced. If you could make such an item, I'd be completely set! Also, I could use it on scouts, Dreanoughts, drop pods, land speeders, and the like.

Hey there Ruyn,
A concave symbol should be possible. I'll have to check dimensions as all of the materials have a minimum thickness necessary to printing, we'd probably have to use Frosted Ultra Detail which requires a .3mm thickness, and I generally try to double their minimums to be on the safe side.
Another thing that would be difficult would be getting the exact deformation of the icons to fit the pads. I would probably have to go off the pads templates I have now, and that should put them fairly close to the metal ones you have. If you're still interested just send me an email through the commission form.

Hey Shrike,
For the shoulder pad process take a look at this post on my website, http://custom-minis.blogspot.com/2011/10/custom-shoulder-pads-for-table-top.html
But in general, a 2D pad costs $25 to commission, and then $1.25 - $1.50 a pad depending on which material you order.
So you'd be looking at $62.50 - $75 for the pads, and $25 for the commission costs.
Thanks
Mike

I could use some Raven Guard pads as well, I got the transfer sheet from Forge World, but that might work as well. Let me know if you get a quote and I might be interested in going 50/50 with you on the commission cost. If that is alright with our shoulder pad friend and you of course.

No idea what a raven guard is, but a black bird looking one way with wings out stretched shoulder pad is possible. And I'm ok with with splitting commissions between people. It would basically be 12.50 each, an then you could each but the pads individually from shapeways.

I don't think it'd sell as well, but it'd be good to have for commanders, specialist units, ect, plus there's always the possibility that someone buys a load for thier army (a lot more models than a space marine army)

You could simply make a mould for it and treat is as a special commission when someone asks for a set done- it'd be partly because of the fact that only a few IG models come with seperate shoulder pads and partly because they won't sell as well as others, but in this sense they could work (though it depends how you make them and if it's that simple)

Well, I'll have to look into it, I've not run across any loose IG Pads yet, but it should be doable.
