Sanguine Bases, huh? I'll give it a shot. It looked a little too brown for me when I first saw the bottle of it.

Fantastic looking army, dude!

I didn't notice that this thread got resurrected until now!! So sorry I didn't reply! I'll go through the comments now.

Disco Shogun wrote:REALLY great work man. I too want to have my BA to represent the Flesh Tearers. Question though, what man you come up with the flesh tones for their faces? Also, this could be a long shot but what paint method did you use? Paint choices, washes, and brushes? Thank you for sharing, I am inspired and will get on my army asap! Keep them coming!

Thank you! The flesh is SUPER easy. All it is is P3's Cryx Bane Highlight paint used as a base. Then I just add straight white and layer it up about 3 times. Bam. Done. Then I will give the eye sockets a purple wash, and then the eyes a red wash. Easy peasy and it looks great.

Jumpin Jesus wrote:Really love the models, especially the Rhinos! The Sawblade is pretty cool idea.

Thank you! I have to admit that I stole it from Aghast over on Warseer. Check his Flesh Tearers out. They are unreal!!!

Quarterdime wrote:Yes... Yes... the skin is definitely my favorite part. It really gives them the look to fit the role, although that priest's face looks a little iffy... Maybe it's the camera focus or the model sculpt, but the mouth looks a bit off.

Thanks! Yeah, the priest's face is weird just because that particular head is weird. It's from the Berserker sprue, so it's a pretty old model.

Peredyne wrote:Question: Did you do the chapter badge by hand or is it a decal? And if it's a decal, where did you get them?

Some of the chapter badges are by hand, but most of them are decals which I printed myself. You can find the files on The Bolter and Chainsword forum, although, I believe that GW now sells Flesh Tearer decals, so definitely support them if you can. Printing the decals is kind of a pain, to be honest. I will buy them from GW from here on out.

Cactusstudios wrote:These really are very good. The highlights on the black look really nice. It's easy to over highlight and make it look silly. But non of that here. And the skim tones are perfect.
Really good work mate.

Thank you!!

Thanks! I stole it from Aghast on Warseer - all credit to him!

Thanks! Yeah, believe it or not, I do not use an airbrush. It's all brush work.

Sure, please see my response above.

Yes, I use Sanguine Base straight from the bottle, no mixing. It does look a bit brown, but that's why it works. The Flesh Tearer red is supposed to be kind of a brownish "dirty" red.

Thank you! I have an update for you guys now!

Amasai looks really sinister. I love the helmet, I think it's a converted Chaos helmet.

May the Angels of Death watch over this project!

Thanks! It is, in fact, a Chaos helmet. If I recall correctly, it's the helmet from the Rhino gunner.

Wow! These models are sick! I love how all your converted characters, although plastic have resemblences to the original minis. Reds and gems look great, fantastic blog!
Shame you had to paint the SM casualty Ultramarine colours though

Yeah, thanks! I try to use the existing model as a base so that my opponents can easily tell at a glance who the characters are intended to be.

I was tired of painting Flesh Tearers and wanted a break when I made that SM casualty... when I was thinking about which chapter to do, well, it seemed fitting that an Ultramarine would need to be bailed out
