See you are "cheating" as a real puritan painter would have the ability to paint an army in a post-apocalyptic desert.

In that situation I would use bone ash.
Perhaps the bones of posters with under 20 post count.
I can't imagine a situation where such a person would be actually invested in this issue.

Unless they had the mostly vestigial sarcasm gland removed at birth...

Tell me who's more invested in the issue -- the guy who fired off a handful of posts about a childish, wrongheaded, attention-seeking thread on the internets, or the guy who jacked off into a tumbler of flour, ostentatiously shot himself in the leg with a homemade needle-pellet, took an exhaustive series of pictures recording the entire process, and then posted them on a messageboard to accumulate the praise of dumbfounded strangers.

Does nobody recognize the tongue-in-cheek nature of everything Doomthumbs does? His is the position of Trickster, who does not take things seriously, and has a high "What the Hell" quotient. He has taken a subject that he saw as silly, and purposefully taken it to it's logical, and imminently silly, extreme, not as a serious example of what 'should' be done, but to draw attention to the unimportance of how a thing is done, as opposed to what is done.

I find it strange that some people would go out of their way to argue here... It's a thread about a plastic creature painted with berry-juice and blood. What exactly is there to argue about?

We SHOULD be arguing about how many women (or men) DOOMTHUMBS will have around his throne of awesome.

C'mon, this is not serious, its a satire: it takes a humoristic aprouch on something, proposing something people would call "absurd", just to point how "absurd" some people views are.

If you are pissed off about this, you are probably a puritan painter, who believe dipping is bad, and is angry after discovering all the bs you deffend... Or you are just a Troll...

This is the problem with the internet, no emotion is expressed. I myself have dipped on many ocasions, it's alright and its a great way to finish an army. The way I see it is that obviously there are people who are hurt by "is the army painter really fair" thread. And rightly so, that thread was created to hurt and offend people. But to relate back to a stupid and childish thread does'nt do anything for this thread. Maybe next time call the thread "painting the 'Ard way". And try not to relate back to a plainly stupid thread. People will know what you mean without saying anything, they will read between the lines.

Apparently, there is a lot to argue about. Allow me to clarify!
That I make posts on my friends account has obviously rankled someone out there, I guess because the thought that I have friends in the real world that trust me is abhorrent to some. It's a ridiculous thing to report me for though. My ego is no state secret, and such that I wouldn't want to share credit with another account, even if that account was me. That's just silly.
Happygrunt, throw in an equal mix. That way no one gets upset when I continue monogamy with Lady Doomthumbs, and we both get some eye candy.
I committed some minor sins in my painting process. I used flour and corn starch. I feel like I let you down. Next time I'll try harder and grind the finest dust from calcium rich sedimentary rock. No seriously, I will.

Thanks to everyone offering praise and support. Seriously makes my day every time I read this stuff. Please don't argue on my behalf though. "Haters gonna hate" is really better as "Haters sometimes make valid points".
A policy of actively ignoring negative input is a bad policy.
Sometimes, that negative input allows me to fine tune my output so as to alienate less people, netting me more support in the long run. Though I enjoy praise more ( and this stuff here is certainly lavish!), totally ignoring the negative is a path towards total sociopathy.

Whew. That all said, what should I paint next?
What do you guys use if you use similar techniques?

I was good up until the blood draw. I really don't care that blood was used but I think there is a more sterile way that it could be done. (Sterile Lancets would be my recommendation). I believe there are some young(er) readers that should be steered the right way.

BTW - anyone else read Fulgrim? Just saying this is just a step away from the remembrencers at the end.

Painting is all about the tools. Dip is no exception, it's just another tool in a painters arsenal. Want to argue about it? I won't bother replying to ya, because my opinion won't change. I see dip the same way I see wash, dip just also adds a wonderfully tough shell to my miniature to prevent damage. Don't like wash? Then don't use them. Don't like miniatures painted with washes and dips? Don't look at my miniatures

I saw in a post a bit higher up (i think page 1 or 2), I'm curious about the mold issue as well... This could make it even more "Nurgle," yet extremely smelly, or just nasty and extremely smelly. I don't think a clear coat (of whatever you might be able to find that's all natural could give) can prevent decomposition.

Ba da ba ba ba.... I'm lovin' it...

Some people even call drybrushing cheating. Sadly there is no cure for stupidity yet ...

For a bright pink color I would use the berries of the pokeweed plant. They will be in season soon!



It's pretty common throughout the US as long as you are in a temperate zone. But DO NOT eat the berries they are poisonous. However delicious they may look, mmm.

Turmeric root is great for bright yellow but you must find it at the grocery store.

For deep red, use beet juice.

Barberry for yellow any part of the plant will work.

RUST! get some all natural rust and grind it up and use it for bright red orange pigment. And burn some wood to get ash.... pure carbon for a nice deep black. Also rusty nails and vinegar work wonders I am told by the internet.
