I am the president of the "Paint-straight-out-of the-pot" club. I buy my paint and brushes from Wal-Mart, and my primer. (The black primer that's $1 a can). I prime, base coat, slather on the wash (Yes, I actually spring for the citadel washes, they're awesome!) and then eventually do some drybrushing of highlights, and maybe, just maybe if I really feel like it, I will shoot a coat of clear varnish. If that is cheating, so be it. I've got a couple hundred guys to paint and games to play, I don't have time for any shenanigans.

I wish I was skilled enough to dip. If it's more complex than "Put paint on brush. Put brush on model. repeat", that I don't have the skills. XD

Dipping hardly requires much skill.

Y - Paint the base clothing, weapon, skin.
next - dip it in an ink / varnish whatever it is - this is to bring out the detail / shade it etc I believe that's all there is to it..
Next - brybrush / highlight if you can be bothered.

N - well, you're only gonna have an undercoated army done with a spray can or unpainted plastic anyway.

I did that with wood stain to make my Necrons look Rusted back in 4th.

One of the Citidel painting books I borrowed made it sound alot harder than that.

Awesome. Might I suggest for future blood drawing either a cannula and vacutainer or perhaps a lancet used for diabetic fingerprick testing? (not as painful as it sounds as you do it on the side of the finger - not the pad!)

In addition I find the addition of a little 0.5 Molar ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) helps keep the blood bloodier for longer. It would probably still attract flies though.

Don't leave juicy fruit models in direct light too long btw
The colours are not likely to be very permanent.

I've actually cast warriors in chocolate. Strength 8 weaponry starts me on a pavlovian reaction now.

Doomthumbs, you are the best. There is a lot of snobbery in the GW world, and I love how you make a pure mockery of it. It helps show the line between Game & Hobby and going way overboard.
