Ok, big update time.....


Been very busy on this one.....


Here we go....

Finished the shin guards details:

Finished the head:

Finished the Carapace and carapace detail:

Finished the Weapons mounts and sponson arms:


Finished the Codpiece details:

It will need a base when the weapons are added. It is standing on its own but only just. I really like the pose, however and will do this pose again. It is gonna look sweet.



Overall, very happy so far. All that remains is to build a Twin Turbo Laser Destructor and a Plasma Blastgun.


Yes, I know the Void shield Projectors are little wooden buttons. They were perfect to me and they look fantastic.


So what are your thoughts? Does anyone see anything that I missed? What could I add? What detail is needed that isn't on it?


For now, though, I gotta hit the hay. I have to build those weapons tomorrow and still get it delivered to my buddy as early as possible. He needs to get it into the mail so his son can have it on his Birthday. I will post photos of the weapons but, opefully soon, he will start posting painting wips in this forum. When you say Torso what precisely do you mean? The main hull from rear to front? (Which, incidentally is almost precfisely .35 inch longer than the FW Offering, so that I would understand) or the Lower body from waist to feet?

I put exhaust pipes on the speed build variant I built for Paintstuff's son's birthday. It looked sweet but i wanted this new design to be very FW accurate.....



How did I do in that Aspect?

Inceidentally, I haven't spent half as much time on this mars pattern as I did on the speed build variant but I did it over a longer calender time and with with better and more detail. I am sorta proud of this bad boy.....

As for being close to the original: Once painted, I doubt people will notice the difference till they pick it up... The only difference I can spot are the head and the carapce icons, but for dimensions it's pretty close. .35 inch difference, apparently

I wanted custom Icons on it. I think I could do the originals fairly well, but I wanted these special. And as far as .35 inch, well, let's just say I see much merit in the Blackadders pechant for accuracy. He is my mentor, afterall.

I am not going to paint it. it is for my friends son's birthday. The second birthday Warhound I have done. This guy is turning 26 and manages or owns a game shop in Washington state. I regret to state, as well, that this warhound is amongst the last few that will be done for friends. I am very happy it turned out as well as it has.....

I do not regret to state that my design and temolates are what I consider to be perfected and officially announce the beginning of the end of free time at my workshop. In a few short weeks I will begin the Mass build of approx. 13 of these bad boys. I have a few gifts I want to give to friends and family so I am doubling up on what I want to build for myself. Ok, you guys are right. I am crazy......

@Cappy, please remember that I have been refining the Mars and Lucius pattern Warhounds for several months. This is, overall, the 6th one I have built. I think the design is solid now....

That may be true, but still, Lightning fast. I couldn't even build a squad of guardsmen in the time you scratch built the warhound!

I don't have templates, I have copies of all the pieces that required designing. It would be a pain in the butt to make templates out of them...

And I admire you guys for it! I can scratchbuild, but I can't recreate stuff tot he exact standrds like you do.

So I got the Plasma Blast gun and Turbo Laser Destructor donehe sponson arms turned out fantastic, imho.

I am happy with everything but the Plasma blast gun. I feel like it was not congruent to the rest of the overall feel. I think it could have been a little better, but it is my old design. The new one I had thought up for this model (and the stencil bag that will build the Legio Maximus) failed miserably. I will relook it later.....


Ok, hit me with all the negative stuff about it first. then tell me what you like best. Please include what you think I could improve......

Rear to front.

The plasma blast gun is lacking vent holes on the muzzle end.

Good god man, its freaking beautiful.

I really, REALLY, just want to see at least one of your models fully painted. You've posted like what, a thunderhawk, 2-3 warhounds, and a reaver, and I have yet to see one painted!

I love it! If I had to make negatvie comments: the 'armpits' seem a bit bland, and the plasma blastgun could do with some more detailing (vetns, atrgeter on top), but that's just minor stuff. Oh, and both weapons could be chaos'ed up a tad. I love the model and it's pose a lot though, it realy looks alive, stalking it's prey.
