Which is why I asked him where he tourneys at since I can't think of a single flgs or GW that is 18+ only.

Don't get me wrong I have absolutely no problem with the swearing, I'm just really curious how Vyler gets away with it at official events.

Thanks for the feedback and compliments everyone!

In regards to my upcoming tourny, it isn't GW official, it's a local club thing. We are expecting like 80+ people to attend, however. I talked to the club leader and organizer last year about possibly running the Angry Marines, and he said that it would be fine as long as I don't "draw and model genitalia all over your models", heh. That being said I will probably bring some masking tape with me, just in case.

In regards to swearing itself: I, obviously, think it is fine. If I take a step back and really look at the situation, I think the censorship of "naughty" words is one of the silliest, most illogical, and immature things our culture does. I mean, most swear words have "clean" versions that mean the exact same thing and are used by children as soon as they know how to speak. (I am speaking only of the words that don't directly refer to something degenerate or bigoted, of course) The words that don't have a direct synonyms, such as the F bomb, are so versatile that they don't even HAVE a set meaning (it's really just fun to say). Ironically, they only reason swear words exist at all is because they are censored. If we stopped censoring them, they would either go away, or we would have to come up with new ones. This means that (Even MORE ironically) the people who enjoy and laugh at excessively coarse language actually DEPEND on those who are offended/censoring it for continued entertainment. So basically, we need to keep a certain level of censorship, otherwise things just won't be shocking and funny anymore; and THAT would be tragic. Also, it's just common courtesy to respect those who don't like it, and don't find it funny. Kind of like turning off a type of music you know someone isn't fond of when they are coming over. The rubbish "protect the children" justification is something I can never get behind, though (but let's keep that discussion out of the project log forums, lol)

Phew, anyway, I want to thank everyone for remaining mature about this subject. And I really appreciate that the folks who may not appreciate the language on my models who could still find merit from a hobbying perspective. With that out of they way, let's talk about projects! (this is a project log thread after all )

We are now completely up to date with my Angry Marine progress, which means updates may not be as frequent. That being said, I plan on also posting some of my other armies (Dark Eldar, Orks, Chaos, and commissions) to help flesh things out seeing as I don't work on them often enough to warrant their own plog. I am also currently planning on a conversion project to make some Pre-Heresy Custodes and Custodes terminators which should be super fun, if a ways off. Also, if anyone would like me to do a commission project for them, let me know, we can probably work something out!

Makes sense. I personally don't have any problems with swearing, and there is nothing to protect the poor, poor children from since they know all those words anyway (and use them frequently becaue they are "forbidden" and "bad", wich makes using them fun.

Unfortunately, I already had to put the assault cannon there, because of how the dozer blade fits on :( But I may use your idea for missile pods when I get around to making a typhoon.

It shall be done! I have seen the 'dex, it's pretty good stuff, but could use an overhaul. I'm tossing around the idea of writing my own...

My ork army is a bit of a sob story, I had 3k pointz of kustom orks, and someone broke into my car and stole them :( This was like 3 years ago, and I have been very slowly rebuilding. But anyway, ask and you shall receive! (although they aren't as good as yours) Here's what I got painted up so far for my freebootaz, Da' 'Azardskullz:

My warboss, 'AzardSkull Gitstompa. Minor conversions here. This FW model was actually the reason I started building up my orks again!

My FW trukk, my basic color scheme is not red, but I wanted this to have a red paint job, so....

A really bad shot of my trukk boyz. Again, I only gave them red bitz to differentiate them from other masses of boyz.

Love the Angry Marines army, to the point that ( in my boredom and searching for a new project...) I've decided to start my own Angry Marines force.

However, I'm not familiar with marines overall, just know a few generalities.
You're using them as Counts-As Death Company right?
Is this simply due to low model count, or is it because they seem to mesh with the AM ethos best?

Both those reasons, and more, actually. The low model count allows me to make each model unique without being too burned out, and Death Company Marines are basically the fluff equivalent of your standard Angry Marine, and DC Dreads are the same with Belligerent Engines.

You can also give each Death Company Marine his own personal load out, so I can jam as many wacky power weapon variations in a single squad as I like, and not have to worry about making like 4 marine tactical squads w/ veteran sgts to be able to use all my conversions.

I can then use Astaroth to take away my Death Company limits, and add Sanguinary Priests to make EVERYTHING have Feel No Pain and Furious Charge (this means I can have Angry Terminators, and Sanguinary Guard!). Then you can add in silly things like deep striking Land Raiders, monstrous special characters like Mephiston, fast razorbacks, etc.... Blood Angels are perfect! The only downer is their inability to take thunderfire cannons...

Although it is great fun to tool around the battlefield with like 15 super-powered, practically unkillable, madmen, it's not exactly the most consistent or tactical force to field If you want something that can be more competitive (at the expense of some flavor, admittedly), I think a "counts as" space wolf army would fit the bill nicely. If they would make a new black templar codex, it could be even better, heh.

The flexibilty of using AMs means I could just go with most any marine dex then
Tempted by the blood angels though from what you said - I don't really care about winning so much as the fun of it.

Of course, do BAs / DCs get the option to take pods? I like pods. And have ideas of what to do with them for angry marines.

Basically, yeah. The limit is how creative you get with interpreting the rules to suit your conversions; so the hardest, I think, would be vanilla marines, they're too "boltery" in my mind.

DA and DC can certainly have pods. My dreads are going to have standard pods (I just have to figure out how to attach dozer blades ). My Marine squad is going to have a rhino, that counts as a drop pod .

BTW, does anyone know: when disembarking from a pod, is deployment the normal 2in from the base hull, or the extended ramps? I need to know this for converting purposes...

Made in gb
Ichor-Dripping Talos Monstrosity

My plan for pods are the following:
(Some of these will be plaster-of-paris or something, several have been inspired / stolen from other peoples ideas.)
1: Dreadnought Splat.
- Make a cast of the front of a dreadnought. Around the cast make a crater impact, when deployed place the crater with the dread in it on the field, to deploy remove dread from imprint and stand it in / next to. I intend to have a dreadnought storm bolter of missile launcher 'left' in the crater to be the pod weapon.

2: Rhino > Attach engine > Attach Dozer Blade. 'nough said.

3: Cast my fist up. Place rocket engine in wrist. Have the middle finger fold out as the door.

4: Have at least 2-3 actual pods, cos pods are awesome.

5: maybe another crater one, but a mix of face first / face down / face up / standing marines in a mini-crater thing...

6: model a ship-munition missile or massive shell, have them holding on to that (magnets!) riding it down.

My primary issue is this though: Fuklaw.
Fuklaw is awesome, I want to make him, I want to use him - question is: As what - I bow to those who know marines to point me in the right direction

I'm going to be starting simple though - Converting my AOBR marines to AMs, and aqquiring + converting fuklaw. Timescale - unknown.

Fuklaw could be used within a Command squad, not completely sure what as though, don't have the codexes handy. That could be something to look at...
